Videos looked rather -meh-, but this demo The graphics still aren’t marvellous or anything, but a big step up from the atrocious quality of DA:O on consoles. Especially the textures of armour etc. look far better. I still wish they had kept the art style of the first one though. The Darkspawn look far to cartoony.

Combat seems fine. You can let the combat just flow and bash low level creatures and start using pause and character switching for stronger enemies.

The skill tree looks a bit nerfed, but I’m looking forward to see how it works out in the full game.

So here am I, a guy who said that he would pick up DA2 as GOTY version somewhere down the line, currently trying to figure out where to pre-order the full game to get the best bonus dlc.

You already missed some bonus content through not preordering before 11. January😛

I decided to order from the same place I got DA:O. Back then I got all the bonus dlc even without pre-ordering. Keeping my fingers crossed that “The Exiled Prince” is included.

Trying out the demo now! Either way, my pre-order will remain active as I fully paid it months ago.

Nav, you are so kind to give a months long interest free loan to your retailer. You would have made at least a quarter by keeping it in an online savings account at current rates.

I’m on the fence with this game… Not sure what to make of it. Bits of it appeal to me, mainly the story. While other bits don’t…

The Dragon Age 2 demo is up on Steam. =)
So far I like what a see in DA2. As someone said earlier you can just let the combat flow for easier mobs but it still has the stop-pause strategic elements too it as well. Can’t wait to get this one.

I was hoping that the combat would be truly different than it was in DA:O, since that is what made me stop playing the first. But no, they brought over all of the broken mechanics, and added (at least) one more to the list. I’d rather still have autoattack if the only difference is going to be that I need to jam on the A button constantly.

I must admit I was pretty disappointed by this, judging by the comments of the first game I was expecting a masterpiece, what I saw was just another western RPG with muddy landscapes.

demo was good, although I didn’t like the way the darkspawn look now they’re way too cartoony, also didn’t like the fact that you couldn’t access the inventory screen since I found some new weapons & wanted to see if they were any better than the default ones you are given.

the best part of the demo is the fact that your character is able to talk & doesn’t stand there like a mindless zombie like in the first one.

The best party members(available in the demo) are only playable in the last bit. =( Demo wasn’t all that impressive, but I also didn’t think DA:O was all that good soooo…
