I’m excited to use Hulu Plus on my Xbox. I hope it’s as good as or better than it is on the PS3. Since PSN is down, I guess it would be hard to be worse.

This free week you speak of. is this on top of the free week that everyone gets for signing up for Hulu Plus?

Or what if we are already a member of Hulu Plus, will we get a free week added to our account?

I love how you spin the free week when in reality it seems it’s free for everyone anyway when they sign up.

Not really true. For Hulu maybe, but Microsoft doesnt seems to be pushing for other Hulu-like alternatives on other markets.

A lot of other countries have their Netflix-like services, Hulu-like services and MS has yet to release anything on any market outside US.

So, even Hulu being a no-go outside US due to licensing, the lack of progress on other markets partnerships is no-one but MS to blame.

Personally, I think there were a few Flash versions that were crap. I had trouble with both HULU and YouTube, until one of the more recent Flash releases. I had to drop dow to “Low” resolution in order to watch anything.

Its annoying we cant even get BBC Iplayer in the UK, PS has it, its a free service, so stupid as it’d be handy. We have sky player but its rubbish, like 20 channels and exspensive!

Maybe BBC isnt keen to what Microsoft is offering them dude its all about money and contracts all that….Hell maybe PS3 has a exclusive contract with BBC Iplayer.

No, iPlayer isn’t on the Xbox because the BBC insist on it being free and Microsoft won’t allow that.

      • http://pjon.es Paul Jones

BBC provides the iPlayer wherever they can, as part of their charter. MS will only allow it to be available to Gold subscribers, and the Beeb can’t force license payers to pay extra to watch content.

So blame MS looking for another way to differentiate silver and gold accounts.

Jesus do you guys read? How is it MN’s fault that every time he says something is available he doesn’t put 3 pages of fine print that say, NOT AVAILABLE IN YOUR AREA.

Get over it. you guys know what kinds of things don’t get to you and you should pretty much be used to it by now. Go bitch at your government and your Broadcasters because they are the ones keeping those services out of your area. Basically the same guys that probably control your ISP.

But stop spouting the same stupid crap over and over.

I can’t get the BBC iplayer yet but I know it’s coming. AND EDUCATE YOURSELVES MORONS. the BBC iPlayer is NOT FREE, british TV viewers have already paid for their content because they have a TV FEE that people in other countries like the US do not HAVE. We have Pay Television which is DIFFERENT. The TV that is broadcast over the air in this country (THE US) is also NOT FREE it’s paid for by Grants, Government money and it’s mostly supported by Advertising.

Stop being such selfish and entitled little brats. I would like to point out that by the way the website your accessing is not the one probably dedicated to your country and is in english. Does that mean that because certain people use google translate to read Major Nelson’s posts that he’s supposed to let them know it’s not available in their country too?

        Get a clue already.

I pay my lisence fee, therefore I want it. And on pretty much every new marketplace posting he lists exactly what regions can/cant get it, so yeah, i have come to expect that.

Now get off your offensive and chill out

Your a moron. Obviously if the service is not available in your area (and HULU PLUS) Is the service I’m talking about here, not XBLIVE, then it will not be available to you even if XBOX Live is available in your area.

Stop your bitching. If you want this stuff so badly move to the states or shut up. It’s not Microsoft or Hulu’s fault that it’s not available in your area. Thats due to the TV broadcasters in YOUR AREA!!!!

Educate yourself on why these things happen and then go after the people responsible for you not being able to receive the services you want.

I can’t get an iPhone on Sprint should I go yell at sprint about that? No because most likely it’s Apple deciding where their phone goes. Sprint is where I get my phone service so why shouldn’t I yell at sprint right?

Things are not as simple as you guys would like to think. Do I think it’s right that you can’t get it. No but it’s outside my sphere of control so just deal with it until the service becomes available in your area. As economies get more globalized and companies have to depend on selling all over the world instead of just geographical localities then this thing will happen less.

Where are my indie games ? Where is my Netflix ? Where is my inside xbox archive ? Where are my US.only deals? Where is my language-pack for Kinect ? I pay #*$ 45 euro’s each year only for the servers and not anything else, and those Americans get Xbox Live for 39 euro’s and is getting al the features I named. We european people are paying more then the Americans and we even get less features . Microsoft must talk to the companies to expand it but it only talks to the U.S companies and not european countries because only the almighty U.S is important for microsoft. And Major Nelson said : All Xbox Live Members but Major only thinks about the almighty U.S people.

And I will never, never go the The States. All the violence there

You will need to eliminate your VAT (AKA Value Added Tax) if you want to pay closer to what the USA pays for Xbox live, (it’s the tax that taxes you several times before the product makes it to the consumer). For the other services that we have if your country was more supporting of capitalism you might stand a chance of getting more content. As it stands I’m surprised that Microsoft even bothered going to Europe at any level.

I know what your saying and have seen there FAQ but it is also how MS put. Many times before MS has x service or offer is coming to ALL subs later to find out it is only US. All people ask is that they which country’s or regions will have the service. Is that too much too ask?

According to Hulu it will only be available to the US.

      International (Outside USA)
Hulu is a U.S.-only service at this time. Unfortunately, we don’t have international streaming rights for our content. Our intention is to make Hulu’s growing content lineup available worldwide as quickly as possible. This requires working with the content owners to clear the rights for each show or film in each specific region. It’s a long-term project. We don’t have a definite timeline, but we’ll continue to work to make it happen.

If, however, our system has incorrectly determined that you are outside the U.S. or if you are trying to access Hulu from a U.S. military base, please submit this form. Please note that Hulu does not work with anonomizers or proxy services. If you’re using such a service, please discontinue its use in order to watch Hulu videos.

That’s correct-have heard many times on twitter from them they’re working on getting such rights.
