Xbox 360 Wireless Headset with Bluetooth and a new Media Remote

Today we announced the all new Xbox 360 Wireless Headset with Bluetooth. The device is compatible with Bluetooth devices such as mobile phones and PCs in addition to being able to connect to Xbox 360 through the console’s standard radio frequencies. The Xbox 360 Wireless Headset with Bluetooth will be available for $59.99 (U.S. ERP) and will be available in stores worldwide beginning early November 2011.

Here is a quick video I made showing the new headset

In addition, the Xbox 360 Media Remote was also announced. Media playback controls include play/pause, skip forward, fast forward, skip back, fast back, and display to control DVD, CD, or streamed media. The TV controls include power on/off, volume up/down, mute and TV input. The Xbox 360 Media Remote’s menu navigation controls include A, B, X, Y buttons, D-pad navigation, back and select. Live TV, if provided on the Xbox 360 by your TV service provider, can also be controlled with the Xbox 360 Media Remote. This Xbox 360 Media Remote will be available worldwide for $19.99 (U.S. ERP) and will be in stores in early November 2011.

Why not make a BT remote like on the PS3 and release a BT adapter for the console?  I’m a die hard 360 fan, but I do appreciate some things about my PS3.

The revised headset also supports bluetooth, which means you can use it with your cell phone when you’re not using it for your 360. Or for the true multitaskers, you can switch in realtime between the Xbox and your cell phone. The new media remote actually looks a million times nicer than the current edition. Also, the price hasn’t been hiked up at all, it’ll still be $19.99. For high res images and a video of the new wireless headset, check out Major Nelson’s Blog. […]

If the new remote isn’t bluetooth then I won’t buy it. I bought the old media remote and unless I have absolute direct line of sight to the xbox it doesn’t work…Silly me I thought it may have been defective so I bought another one. Same problem.

I was excited about the remote, until I noticed something: Where did the windows media center button go? The old white remote had a nice windows media center button on it. I’m not paying Microsoft more money for less features. So really it would be more cost effective to just paint the case on my old white xbox 360 remote if I wanted it to match my new xbox that bad…

What does the media center button do that the guide button couldn’t do on this remote etc. I’ve never used the remote that came with the original 360 (the small media center one) and never use media center, but I can’t imagine you’re ‘missing features’ because of a button.

You couldn’t force me to buy a headset for that little amount of money, I’ve only had friends buy things like turtle beach headsets for that sort of money and it never has turned out well for them, poor sound quality and things breaking over time etc. The only headset I want to spend any money on right now are the pretty expensive astro ones, not enough money atm but eventually I’d like to get those ones as I do need a great headset and mic that works for my 360 and pc etc.

I’ve never heard anything more ignorant in my entire life. The amount of money something costs almost never equals the actual value of the item. People like you are why companies charge exorbitant amounts of money for “professional” products.

Well do you want them to give it to you for free, because that is sort of what you are implying. Microsoft is a company and needs to make money to sustain it self in the market over the past couple years you are lucky you are not paying 100 dollars a year.

Can it be swapped around to fit in either ear?  Given the volume control positions, it looks like not.  Sadly, this would mean that I would not be buying it.

    Like

    • J A

Yes, you can. The volume buttons will just be placed in opposite spots depending on the ear it is on. When worn on your right ear the volume buttons will be ontop (so you use your index finger to toggle) and when in your left ear they will be below (so you use your thumb to toggle).

you raise the prices for your monthly subscriptions because of new features that not everyone can use, then you want us to pay $60 for a wireless mic and buy overpriced Microsoft points for overpriced arcade games and overpriced avatar stuff? not everyone gets to sit at Microsoft and get paid $35 an hour to act like they know what there doing. money doesn’t grow on trees

People like you should be banned from forums.  You offer nothing at all to the discussion.  Nothing, zero, zilch.  Is someone holding a gun to your head demanding that you pay $60 for the mic, or buy MS points, or purchase Arcade games, or avatar accessories?  I doubt it.  Don’t be such a charlatan.  Stop complaining and move out of your parents basement.

I agree on the fact that making us buy all these useless accessory’s instead of giving out free items for the avatars is absurd. Month by month subscriptions will cost more in the long run then annually. If anyone important in the Microsoft ladder does happen to read this then imo, Zune music and possibly movie streaming should be included in the Xbox live gold package or a possibly new “platinum package”. Think about it. Downloading any items you should always have to pay per item.

Actually I’m pretty sure the price increase was mostly in the US correct? I live in Canada and saw no increase. All of the features Live provides are available in the US, it’s international users that sometimes can’t use some of the features, though I’ve never cared to really use them eitherway. Money isn’t as hard to come by as you may think, with my crappy part time job I can afford transportation, a smart phone monthly bill and many other things along with xbox live very easily, just buy the 12 month cards for $60 and you’ll be fine.

If you are not able to pay for the services Microsoft offers, maybe you should look back at your expenses and sell ANY “luxury” you might have to be able to survive in this economic crisis. If you are so unstable economically that you cant buy any avatar, microphones, remotes, service, etc then don’t buy it, no one is threatening  you to buy them. Maybe you should reconsider moving back to your mom’s and save on some bills expenses.
