The YouTube app is pretty cool. I’ve been using it for a couple of days. I had skipped the Rogers app because I figured it was only for Rogers customers, however, this post implies differently so I’ll check it out.

As I originally expected, the Rogers on Demand app is only for Rogers customers. The information above is incorrect.

Yes it’s the same with the Sky Player app in the UK. Doesn’t tell you that you need an account until you install and run the app.

Has a release date been announced for HBO Go yet? Other than the Comcast app (which I hear is due early 2012) that is the only other one I am really anticipating. YouTube is great. I’ve had it on my blu-ray player but the interface on the xbox is so much better!

PS Also “Youtube” is not part of the UL. A nice easy fix for you I presume🙂

A single asterisk is used to mark “requires Gold membership”… but there’s no single asterisk anywhere else in the list.  Exactly which services require Gold?  All of them?

Sadly yes. From what I can tell, they all require a gold membership.

Looks like I’m finally going to have to give in and get a year. :S

There are 11 items out of which 5 are available in the US with three of them being US only. This means the US is getting the most new features of any country on top of the existing US only ones and still you complain?

Now they just need to fix the reference levels to stop videos looking grey and washed out, this has been reported numerous times and they just seems to be ignoring it. Also Blinkbox doesn’t give you access to any of the free movies and TV shows that are available on their website.

My biggest gripe, which has been around for a while, is how quiet audio is in avi files with voices being very quiet then explosions, background noise etc being ridiculously loud.

Why is there not a queued list of YouTube subscriptions from ALL your subscriptions like on YouTube/all other apps. You have to go through each subscriber to see what content has been uploaded, and that seems like an oversight. Also, why is the quality so bad? I don’t seem to be getting videos in HD for some reason.

Hey Major, I know you guys didn’t include U-verse on your list of upcoming partners because they already are on the xbox, but that required an “in$tall” on U-verses part.  Do you know if they are gonna update their app and make it available for free to U-verse subscribers?

Wow. The availability of the Youtube client is just really sad. It’s not enough that most of the world gets absolutely nothing… no, just add some more artificial limitations to Youtube.

I guess this just crowns the disappointment that is the new dashboard.
