1600 points for an Arcade title?  Forget it.

Sorry Microsoft, but there’s no way I’m paying more than 800 points for any title.  And I almost never buy any in-game DLC.  If I were given the opportunity to transfer my Marketplace licenses to another gamertag, then I would buy a lot more DLC.  How about giving us that feature?

I wonder if this next promotion is a response to how bad House Party was. Then again, I really wonder how well Minecraft will sell when there’s 1-3 dollar pretty decent knockoffs on Indie Games that have sold really well.

No suprise the Money grabbing half wits at M$ are making Minecraft that expensive. It should be cheaper because it has half the features of the PC, No Mods, or Texture packs.

I will NEVER spend 1600msp on an arcade game, it’s very rare I even spend 1200.  G.O.D. is one thing but not an arcade game… you are overstepping your bounds MS and I hope you fail for it.

aww how sweet, I have a stalker!  Oh I’ve spent my fair of $ on arcade games as I’ve had the system since launch.  At $20 the games will be 4 times as much as they were at launch, that’s not inflation it’s robbery.  Also, look up the word hypocrite sometime…

Yes, they’ll be four times as much but compare the size & quality of many of the original works that we’re getting on XBLA now, compared to the, often poor, ports of 20 year old games that we were mostly getting at launch.

I’m quite happy to pay more when I’m getting more & we are definitely getting A LOT more in 2012 than we were getting out of XBLA games in 2005.

I don’t know why everybody is blaming Microsoft for this when the retail version of Minecraft is $26.95.  Obviously, the developer was pushing for that price as well.

Ah ha! See, I KNEW the raise in gamerscore to 400 was an effort to justify charging more for games, and the 1600 point Minecraft is a prime example.

The other games on the list have 400G and dont cost 1600?…. the price of Minecraft is well worth it because its not some arcade game that you’re going to play for 1 damn week.

To all the haters on Minecraft’s price: this is hardly the first time an XBLA game has been 1600 points (Shadow Complex, both GTA4 “add-ons”, etc) and it’s appropriate sometimes.  Minecraft on PC costs $27, and is the type of game you could play for hundreds of hours.  The value proposition on this game is extraordinarily high.  I never had any other expectation than that it would be 1600 points on XBLA, and it’s a price I’ll gladly pay.

The term “haters” gets used way too much these days. It’s dismissive and used by lazy thinkers.

Wow. Free cookie for you. You figured out that I was pointing out how weak your argument is by using it against you. The original argument made a good point. Your response was the logical equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and sayign “nu-uh! I can’t hear you! NANANANANANA!”

No, actually I was pointing out that you couldn’t come up with an original statement so you had to use mine because you were being lazy.

Haha. Sure. You didn’t completely miss the irony at all. You also don’t see any hypocrisy in intimating that my counter-argument bad yet thinking yours is good when it’s the same argument. All this is fluff anyway since the original point made by pocketdave still stands unrefuted.

That’s because there is no irony. What I said was true. It wasn’t an arguement against anything else he said. I was simply addressing the use of the word “hater” to describe those who didn’t agree with him. But somehow, you have seen that as an argument against everything he said. It’s just basic reading comprehension.

@Superman64 hmm, fair enough.  If I revise it to say “To all the dissidents” will that appease you? Or were you just looking for something in my post to attack because my logic is sound, but you’re still upset by the price?

I know that would make you feel better if that was the reason, but no…I truly don’t like it when people use “haters” as a term to describe others because they don’t agree with them.

-definitely- buying Trials Evolution: Already a good candidate for best xbla game of the year, and nothing is as satisfying as crushing your friend’s scores🙂

Minecraft however…when everyone has access to the cheap pc version with superior control and endless (and free) multiplayer options, how did it seem like a good idea to charge 1600 points for it? I can see how playing minecraft from your couch can be fun, but not at 1600 points. Maybe it’s best to actually reconsider that price. 1600 points = few people buying it = few reasons to have the online feature.

I bought it for 10 a long while ago, I heard it’s 20 now. Still, minecraft fans already own it on pc (and you don’t need a gaming rig to run the game), they won’t buy it again on xbox at that price.

Very disappointing. First Minecraft gets pushed back from a winter 2011 release, to Spring 2012. Then they start the over-hyping, culminating in the release of avatar items. They also release the “Guys, it’s here” video, when in fact it is still quite a ways off. SO not happy right now.

1600 pts for Minecraft?  So basically, in Canada, you would need to buy 2800 pts card for $40 or 2 1400 points card for $20 each and be left with a bunch of extra points.  Seriously, with the dollar almost equal with the US dollar, why are we always screwed when it comes to points?

If you choose to buy via the dashboard (I don’t anymore) the amounts are different. Should be able to get just 2000 that way if you don’t mind your credit card being stored.

And we’ll see if the MS points change to real currency later this year.
