which is BS, games should be sold at the lowest common denominator I for one would love getting new games for $20. it’s stupid as it probably costs more to put the game out in those countries yet they pay much less.

Your Black Friday deals mean nothing to people outside the USA or to people who weren’t in the USA on Black Friday (like me). Deals fluctuate. No one’s claimed this is the lowest you’ll ever get them.

These are great deals, but I’m soooo suspicious of them. There hasn’t ever been a Games on Demand sale like this before, and I’m worried they’re getting it out of the way before the next Xbox announcement that lets us know we can kiss these suckers goodbye in the new generation. That, or this is because the new 300GB+ hard drive came out. That’s me being particularly pessimistic though.

This ‘ultimate’ sale has been pretty uninspiring so far. There were some amazing bargains on Codemasters games, and some decent ones on Resident Evil games, but everything else has been unimpressive.

Steam sales are hugely more impressive, as were the PSN sales in the run up to Xmas.

Poor. Where are the big discounts? Like others have noted, most of these ‘sale’ prices are still more expensive than a physical GOTY edition of the game with all the DLC.
Here in the UK, Fable 3 is still £20 after the ‘discount’ but I can pick up a physical copy from Amazon for £12. I’ve heard it’s not great, but was willing to give it a go if it had been selling for less than £10. I think there’ll be many others like me who would have been interested in some of these games if the discount had been bigger, but 50% isn’t enough for the already massively inflated Games On Demand prices.

Maybe it’s not good for UK or USA, but it’s an awesome discount in many countries (including mine) where games are expensive as hell. Also, because of that, most of us have a local account and also an US account. So, having the option to buy a reasonably new game like Dishonored for $29.99 is a steal. It’s at least $60 everywhere here.

Microsoft only cares about the US market. Looks at Live Gold prices over here, and the little we get in return (less apps, less services… not even mentioning the fact that Gold is more expensive over here). If steam can work out deals around the world, then im sure M$ could do the same. Guess they dont care. Steam has set the benchmark high when it comes to digital distribution… and M$ has to do better.

Over here, M$ is in for a rough time come next gen. With Sony not making any mistakes at launch this time, its going to be tough for them over here. Guess that the US market is enough for M$… heck even with Sony’s mistakes at launch of the PS3 and a head start of 1 year, the PS3 still sold more in Europe…

funny how Micro$oft has a hard time giving everybody worldwide deals, but when it comes to paying Live Gold, the price is always more expensive in europe. Thats something I will take into account for the next gen, major. cheers

Bring on Civilization, wanted this game for ages! However, it is Xbox 360’s final year and this is the first time this type of ‘digital’ sale has been introduced (should’ve been done sooner I reckon), definitely some great money making potential here for Microsoft. After all, digital downloads are the way forward!

Another day, another set of out of touch prices from the Xbox “sale”. Save your money and but these at retail folks. (GOTY versions are cheaper too).

The scariest thing is that these sale prices could be an indication of future prices when games eventually go download only. Support your local retailers because as soon as buying online from Microsoft becomes your only option everyone is going to be hurting.

If Microsoft wants to see how to do deal with online retailing they should take a look at steam. When DL becomes the only way to buy games I home that Steam Box is up and running because when that day comes Microsoft won’t be seeing a penny from me.

      It’s normal.

When buying GoD title, paying by MSP will be a little more expensive than paying by local currency.

      Like

      • http://twitter.com/shulamm JJBR

I must disagree, my friend. A GoD tittle like RE: CV that costs 5$ is converted to 400MP. Then a game that costs 10$ should be 800MP, not 840MP, by simple maths. And the fact is there are games of 10$ converted to 800MP, even some of these week’s sales, but not all. Even Guibluk is pointing that Arkham City is 1240MP, so those 40MP must be a conversion error that people is paying overprice, well at least people that doesnt care. But who cares, we aint americans🙂

        Like

      • http://www.facebook.com/sunny.man.7771 Sunny Man

Then I don’t know. In my region Hong Kong, GoD title’s MSP price is always higher than local currency price a little. There is always those extra 40msp, 80msp.

        e.g.
Dishonored is now priced at HK$159=US$20.38/1640msp
RDR is now priced at HK$99=US$12.69/1040msp

Anyway, there is no such thing as “standard conversion rate” between MSP and local currency. So I guess It’s just how MS likes to price their product.

        Like

      • http://twitter.com/kapyshon kapyshon

MSP price is always cheaper in my region (Russia). For example I’ve got RDR for 1160 MSP today, when the price for game in local currency was 599 RUR=US$19.41. But 1160 MSP costs me only 329 RUR=US$10.66, so it’s almost twice cheaper.

      • http://twitter.com/shulamm JJBR

Yeah, kapyshon, that’s what all my friends do here in Spain: we buy MP cards at american prices. And because Microsoft treats the rest of the world as garbage and uses its twisted currency conversion we get even to americans. That’s because microsoft €/$ exchange is 1/1, for instance: a game that costs 10$ in US its priced 10€ here, but 10€ really worth 13$, so buying it with MP till now adjusts the gap. Anyway US will always have advantage above the rest, i can accept that, but what i can’t take is microsoft “taxing” us even more with increasements.

Its been happening for days, but people here cares more about if these sales are rubbish, if sony is better, if blahblah. But the only think you could really change is that fraggin issue, massively tweeting majornelson or whatever, because hey its an issue! as major stated day one. Dont know if that happens to US gamers, but abroad its a fact, in UK, in Spain, i bet in all Europe.
