Picking up Dishonored and Fable III. Contemplating Arkham City.

Question to those who have bought stuff from this sale: Have your downloads seemed really slow compared to downloading other large files from XBLM?

The actual price for Dead island was 19.99 before the sale, not 29.99.

Seen a few people commenting since the sale started that the standard price has actually increased in order to make the discounts seem better. That’s pretty poor form by MS if true and borderline illegal in certain countries as far as I know

Thanks major i was hoping for dead island for $10 or cheaper. In for one..

For those in the US who want to complain about xbox gold to PSN+. Xbox gold is $35 (been on sale everywhere at that price) PSN+ i have not seen discounted except one time. It may go on sale more i am not sure i just dont see the discount.

XBOX gold has better social. PS4 is going to be better on social but for now XBOX rules the roost.

I signed up for bing rewards along with my wife. If you are in the US and you like to exercise little effort for a good deal then bing is king. Each month you get about 470 points which i cash in for 400 MS points. So i am picking up Dead Island for bing points. I get to keep it even if i dont have gold. To me that works out better.

Not for everyone but is for me. Also those not in the US. I feel for you guys.😦 Bing should roll that out world wide.

On the list, it has Fallout 3 as well as Fallout New Vegas, but only New Vegas is on sale today.
Is it a mistake that Fallout 3 is not on sale today or would it be on sale another day?

For those who are complaining: Get out of your shell!!! If you live in a place that has low prices for games and has huge retail options, good for you. For the rest of us which don’t have that luck, it’s an awesome discount. Do you know that in many countries (including mine) games are expensive as hell? Also, because of that, most of us have a local account and also an US account? So, having the option to buy good games for a discounted price is amazing! Just so you know, Dishonored costs at least $60 (and that’s on “Ebay like” sites) here where I live. So $29.99 is a steal.

Hey, Rodrigo, don’t take the complaints personally. I for one am happy that the sales are happening at all, and I’m happy that the sale is providing some great deals for you, but that doesn’t mean that we should be disconnected with our local pricing realities. Have you ever heard the term, “The squeaky wheel gets the grease?” If we don’t point out where these “Ultimate Sales” are faulty or unfair, then how can we expect Microsoft to improve or address the problem? I live in Canada and while some deals were pretty decent, the Halo deals were…well, honestly a slap in the face, double the price of what the US got, yet our dollar is nearly at parity. Meanwhile PSN prices have always been the same for the US and Canada to my knowledge. That’s the reality here.

I picked up Guitar Hero 2 used for $5 at Gamestop. Ironically a track pack costs more than the game – that’s brilliant marketing, keep DLC overpriced years after the game comes out so absolutely nobody buys rather than having many people buying DLC years after release. I mean, come on, who wants profits years after a project is done…

I agree. The DLC prices for stuff that has been out awhile are just stupid. I’d buy a lot more if the prices came down.

At the very least I’d like to see a couple DLC sales like this per year. MS…I’m basically asking you to take my money if you would just give me a little help.

Glad to see Dishonored 50% off. I much rather physical copies of games, but this is cheaper than Amazon and BestBuy (no GOTY editions yet either). Needless to say I bought it. Thanks.

        Digital copy: $299.00.
        DLC: $544.00
        Total: $843.00
And, if they give you the DLC with -50% it would be: $571.00 (almost the same and using a lot of space on you Hard Drive).

Or you can buy it on Gamers for $599.00. Or looking somewhere for a better deal.

The way you said it originally, to me, sounded like you meant you could buy the “physycal format and with all the DLC’s” for cheaper than the digital copies of the base game I bought for $10 each.

If it is cheaper here than in stores, then I will buy it here (though I like physical media a bit better). If it is cheaper in the stores, then I will buy it there. If there is a mess of DLC and a GOTY edition, then I will buy the whole game at once rather then though MS.

It is all about where it is cheaper. Dishonored is a good deal along with a few others over the past few days. Just got to do the research and not lump everything together.

Hey, I agree with you on those two titles. Borderlands and Fallout New Vegas are indeed steals at $10. I just have no interest in those two titles. If Batman: Arkham City and Red Dead Redemption were only $10, I’d have bought them already, but at $15, I have to pause and think if I’m getting a deal or not, since I could get the same price for the actual disc. Keep in mind that I’ve owned both games before, so for me to buy them again the price has to be better than good, it has to be a STEAL, especially when I’m looking to buy a digital game that is restricted by DRM. Honestly, $10 is the magic price point for me, as many of the games that have been offered in these one-day sales so far cannot be found anywhere used for $10 (not easily, anyway), and I wish MS would shoot more for that price point with the majority of these older games.

That said, if you’ve NEVER played RDR or Arkham City before, $15 is an amazing deal. Most of the people who are complaining about these prices are likely people like myself who have already played and/or finished these games before, so it’s harder to see the value, especially when prices for used and new games are very competitive out there.

um why don’t you just burn your money?? the only close to decent sale here is fallout new vegas, but the GOTY edition which has like $50 worth of content is $30 new. plus you can trade it in and share the DLC disk with friends.

Your argument is you are grateful for the sale and that brats are complaining, when in reality the complaints are valid when the downloadable licenses for the games are more then you can get in store… paying more for a downloadable copy is ridiculous since you don’t actually own the content.

I used Bing rewards for MS points so I got both games for free. Two games that I had no idea whether I would like them or not (I do now). Also, from what I hear, Borderlands and Fallout are both massive games with many hours of play time. Lastly, nobody is forcing you to buy any of these deals, so if you no want; you no buy!

All you people complaining about the 720 not having backward compatibility being the reason for this sale. I say who cares. If I get a 720, I’m still keeping my 360 and will just use both. Can’t sell an Xbox for much anyway these days.

Part of the reason why we think backwards compatability is so important is because of our hardware issues. 10 to 20 years from now I want to be able to play the digital games I bought today if I choose to do so. Somehow I think xbox 360 units are going to be out of production by then and chances are we wont be able to play these games at all thanks to the digusting age of digital distribution. You mark my words on everything I’ve stated.

Better selection of games this time, but honestly, but any of these games can be bought for the same price used and I’d actually own the disc. RDR, Portal 2 can be had for $15 at Best Buy, and even less at local game shops. They would be steals if they were the GOTY editions.

That said, it’s nice to see Xbox Live getting a little more aggressive with sales and pricing. At least now I’m tempted to buy during these promotions, which was hardly ever the case before. Hopefully one day XBL sales will actually rival those of Steam and PSN.

If a game has a GOTY edition then it’s not worth buying on these sales. Dead Island GOTY is 20 bucks at Amazon. New Vegas GOTY is 29 at Amazon.

Dishonored is a good deal, so is Fable 3 (now the game though I heard it’s not great). Borderlands 1 is good also if you don’t mind getting DLC that there is, like me.
