    1. Being how this game is listed in the “Xbox 360 top live titles” section for some derp reason since technically by their logic, otther Arcade titles should be in that same list too, I will say, Yes, we will see it twice, errr STILL see it twice even when the retail disc releases.

      1. And they shouldn’t. It has it’s own Arcade list for a reason.
Listing an Arcade game in the other section doesn’t make sense to me.
If it was on a retail disc, then I can understand that, since it’s not the XBLA version. But it’s not…yet.

      2. The arcade list is arcade games sold not played the main list is games played as in when someone loads the game up it counts as 1, the minecraft retail disc and the arcade game will be added to each other on the main list as its exactly the same game in EVERY way except distribution

      3. ^^ Is that not what I just said? I said the arcade list is arcade games sold in other words the amount of people using microsoft points to buy tye arcade title, re-read what I said, oh and they dont count the full versions being played towards the arcade list only the maon (top) list

      4. “No, the top arcade games are being played not sold.”

No. The XBLA, and Indie Game lists are based on sales, not based on active users like the Overall XBL, and Windows lists.

There is no list released based on what XBLA games are being played most.

      5. I strongly disagree with both your contention and logic. The first list encompasses ALL games played over live regardless if they are disc based or Live Arcade titles. If an Live Arcade game is being played as much or more than a retail disc game, it is good to have a reference such as this and should be recognized for that achievement. We still need the top Arcade list to see how those titles fare against each other as few manage to crack the overall top 20 list (and when they do, they don’t typically stay there for long).

    2. My guess is it’s like those xbla game compilations that are released on disk (like the sega dreamcast collection): It is the exact same game with the same ID, with the only difference being you play it from a dvd instead of your hard drive.

    3. It is the exact same game just offered on disc. There will only be one Minecraft on the charts. Probably won’t see a big uptick on the charts since a lot of the people who will buy it aren’t connected to Live and this will be their first chance to get the game.

    1. What? You expected that game to beat the likes of Call of Duty with it’s heavy active online community? I’ll be surprise if it beats Gears of War 3, which it won’t.
Tomb Raider and Assassin’s Creed III is going to be duking it out for a long while on the charts.

  1. I will still never understand how a level editor that pretends to be a game is sitting pretty on top. Not bashing the game for those that like it, but for me, it’s not my cup of tea and I’ll never understand it’s popularity..
Waits for the snarky comments about not having any creativity and imagination to come in here.. all of which couldn’t be further from the truth in my case.

    1. Gotta agree with you, I don’t get it either. Nothing against the “game”, I just find it so… SO boring…

I’ve tried giving it more time after every other TU but I always just end up writing swear words out of Netherrack and setting them on fire.

      1. Nice to see someone agrees. I bet we get thumbed down because you know how the internet is.. people can’t tollerate a difference of opinion and all..
Just like you I have nothing against the people that enjoy it, but they sure do have something against us. Happy gaming brother! 🙂

      2. I don’t understand the reason or the motivation behind it to be honest with you. I can see more joy building a model that you can display in your home.. not a digital version of something you can’t share outside your television screen.

    2. we went over this, minecraft is basically legoes, anyone with creativity will like that kind of game because it lets you build. same with little big planet, except the purpose of that game is to make your own level, and sometimes your own game within the game and have people play it.

      1. What’s funny is my father is the artist, musician, painter and skulpter.. he even worked with Hanna Barbara and worked on some classic cartoons like Flintstones, Skooby Doo, Jetsons, Pac Man, and worked with Disney back in the day for the original Tron movie from 82. Unfortunately Curtis, I didn’t inherit any of his talent. Even when I used to play with legos as a kid, I don’t remember trying to build anything on my own.. I always just built what was in the instructions, same thing with all my models growing up as a kid.

My creativity lies with the things and the storylines I can come up with in my head, I have about as much imagination or artistic talent in my little toe nail than my father has in his whole body. While this may contribute why I could care less about this game, even if I did enjoy building things, I still wouldn’t call this a game persay.

If you like the game, fine, I’m happy for you, but recognize that others won’t always feel the same.

I thumbed up your post btw since you didn’t flame an showed some maturity. Just letting you know. 🙂

      2. I think you got your head on backward for even replying to this. Nice to see my trivial post mean something to a complete stranger. 🙂
Also I know exactly what I did last week, I could care less what you have to say as well.

  2. Nice to see NiD get a little boost from being on sale, that’s certainly a must-play. A little surprised to see VF2 above VF5, but I guess that’s what 160 MSP does for a game versus 400 MSP. That and more people probably had VF5 already from previous sales or something I dunno lol.

    Real Steel? Really?

      1. No, it means minecraft is more popular than soccer games. While it might be a concept that’s hard to grasp for some: The reason minecraft is popular is different than the reason FIFA is popular.

        Mindblowing, I know.

      2. It’s the biggest sport in the world, AND it’s the biggest sports game in the world. That said, it didn’t sell more copies than any of the games in the top 5. Nothing wrong with Halo 4 losing to a football (soccer) game in this chart, were it not that Halo 4 outsold FIFA by at least 3 million copies.

      3. You realize Halo is like Microsoft’s #1 go-to game and of the only good Xbox exclusive games right?. The reason why Xbox became so big was because of Halo. Halo 2 multiplayer made Xbox Live what it is today. And the reason many people including me bought an Xbox was to play Halo. And to see the franchise go down the tubes like this is rather disappointing. Considering the amount of time and money that went into Halo 4 the #4 spot is pretty awful.

      4. What you have to remember is Halo 4 is the first attempt with a new studio in control I don’t see halo 4 being a failure it is competing with multi platform games that get a lot more marketing than console exclusive games do.
If PSN had this sort of stats im sure COD would be top

      5. Halo 4 is doing great! It made millions of dollars and is still the fourth most played game on Xbox 360. That is a massive accomplishment! It has not gone down any tubes. You must be very successful to consider that awful. If I had a game in the top 20, I’d be ecstatic.

  3. Minecraft in 2nd place should convince Microsoft to invest on XBLA arcade. Get Exclusives, Indie devs and for God’s sake, make it easy and accesible to devs to bring their games to XBLA.
