If someone asks me if the sky is Red — I could say yes because if I look in the right direction at the right time it is — doesn’t make my answer correct. The correct answer is, at sunrise/set the sky sometimes appears reds near the horizon.

Your answer was vague, Phil’s answer was correct.

      per ign review below:
“And while it may seem unfair to criticize a game for nonexistent features, you can’t help but daydream about the fascinating possibilities and adventures that a cooperative mode could’ve laid bare – especially when State of Decay’s creators have publicly stated that they originally planned to included it and hope (not “plan,” hope) to still add it via a post-release patch.”

$20 bucks is not a big deal, sure it is more expensive than other games, but the game is HUUUGE, and probably a lot better than 60$ games like Colonial Marines garbage and many others.

        Like

      • Z4M0

Have you noticed retail pricetags drop almost on weekly basis ? you can get A: Colonial marines way cheaper thant its release date price… you can also get Assasins creed 3 or tomb raider at $30 (and may others -good ones-).

Hell, even my friend got Tomb Raider days after release for $30 and I’m talking mint copies, no used stuff.

Price reductions affecto to EVERY RETAIL title soon or later, but we all know there are 4 year old arcades that haven’t seen their price dropped yet.

I’m not against digital market, love it indeed and have +100 titles and a lot of them were day 1 purchases not sales but there are few problems concerning digital distribution that we should face.

To me, in general any XBLA is much worth its price than most retails but won’t go defending that business model blindly: If we are to defend something, let’s do it with all the facts on the table, not just the ones that benefit our points…

        Cheers🙂

Weekly basis? Ha! Where do you live? I guess USA or UK, because where I live (Mexico), AAA tittles prices stay for moooooooonths! And there are so many people on my situation. Even on USA I doubt they drop in weekly basis, sure, maybe you could get a new title cheaper in a offer or something, but not weekly basis.

And right, you can get Tomb Raider, Hitman or other cool games for $30, but we are talking about realease date prices.

        Like

      • Z4M0

keep guessing cause where i live we didn’t had (local) inside xbox (if any) while Mexico users did.

Also, how can you say it’s defo not weekly basis ? while you doen’t live here you can tell, so stick to facts. Or do you want me to personally PM you via gamertag with a pic everyweek (raise eyebrow).

Actually thru my point, the cost is no cheaper but the same if we compare at launch day, cause as I did mention $20 is a third of a retail game price at release date, and arcades, generally speaking offer a third of what you can expect from a retail, even in file weight. You won’t convince me here… and BTW if you are to compare the cream of the crop arcade wise with Vampire Rain at release date… well to me it’s not a valid comparaision😀

De todos modos, gracias por comentar!

De hecho, cuando hablé de México (porque es lo que conozco) te aseguré que los precios se quedan por meses, pero hablando de USA dije “Even on USA, I doubt…” keyword “doubt”.

I see the Wiki was quickly changed after my complaint. Sorry to pee in your porridge. I’m going to try to demo and see gives them the gall to charge $5 more than usual for yet another zombie game. The $20 price point should never have been created for any downloadable game. Games max out at $15 on PSN. There are standards. Like you don’t charge $75 instead of $60 for a AAA retail game just because you think your game is better, or because you worked harder on it, etc.

Also, $20 isn’t a lot of money for a really good game. If you don’t like the price, don’t buy it and don’t come her complaining about it. Seriously.

I agree, look at Minecraft. I happily paid 20 bucks for it on the xbox (and that was after buying it on the pc) and have more than gotten my money’s worth. I’ve watched reviews and read about this game and I have no doubt this game will be worth every penny. I cant tell you for sure until tonight as I just bought my xbl points card at lunch to buy it. And like somebody else said I’ve paid a lot more for games that turned out to be absolute trash. 20 bucks can be written off by making your lunch instead of buying it for 3 days. And that’s eating at fast food. If you are more of a sit-down type person 1.5-2 days.

So a developer releases a game to get funding and feedback for their next game? Shocker. That is how this industry works, especially if you want to do something like an MMO.

Like someone else said: If this was a retail disc for 20$ or even 30$, half of the people who complain right now would praise it for being cheap.

The lines between retail and download are blurring every day. My favourite games of last year were “Downloadable” titles I would have happily bought as retail discs. You just can’t compare the $5 games from the start of the generation to most of the XBLA and PSN games you get now.

I wish people would stop to generalize this stuff (“Oh, it is downloadable, so it can’t be more the xx$.”) and start to look at each offering individually.

I love how every argument from fanboys is “your not entitled to blah blah blah” no, i’m just not dumb enough to spend $20 on something not worth $20.

I’m not saying it’s a bad game now, but the game is severely lacking in some aspects and it makes me wonder wtf happened. no co-op is a huge negative for example. now comparing this to some of my past retail game purchases (prototype 2 new for $5, god of war ascension for $25, halo 4 $20) It’s hard to say this is worth the price.

I do not expect things for free. I am planning on getting this game today if the trial proves worthy.
That said, the industry may be setting itself up for a problem. So many sales (I love sales and not complaining) that more and more people wait for the inevitable sale that happens fairly soon after release now.
And I have read so many times in the last 2 years that the future of gaming is free to play. I have played a few decent free to play games that I would have paid for. But, they were free and so they did not receive any money. I know several people who, like me, spend big on gaming. Some have been trying this free-to-play route and waiting for sales to see how much they would save. And they have saved a lot of $ already. I thought I read somewhere that the games industry was down right now a little. Could be something that is having an effect.

        Ahh, sales… it’s called competition🙂

Publishers can’t sep up their desired pricetag and wait there resting on one’s laurels so the game itselft becomes the king of the hill…

Your’s might be good nut others’ stuff could be also, but cheaper!

Valid point you got. I know people that saved even on release date by holding a couple of weeks (skulls of the shogun anyone? -i.e.) not to say, sales.

Do you dare to generalyze so badly ? just for the record, you made a distinction between $20 games and $60 games… well have you noticed the price escalation XBLA have suffered in the last years?

Sure, quality standards have risen up, but also file weight did. What does this means, then ? Now a XBL (the “AAA ones” to say in some way) title weights 1/3 of a retail game (2gB against 6Gb) and costs 1/3 of a retail game ($20 against $60) and quality is getting close but not there yet.

Can’t really anyone see it ? not to be dramatical, just stick to facts…. XBLA games will become retail games that never had phisical distribution to begin with.

It all started at $5 worth titles in the vein of “track and field” and now sure is “better” but also more expensive, occupies more space, etc. wich isn’t bad for itself but is blurring the line between digital and phisical distribution.

I want my arcades simple, that’s it. And don’t want them to be retail’s counterparts in digital terms.

With that I can’t clearly difference between $20 and $60 games as $20 ones aren’t theorically that cheaper, but a fraction of what a $60 game is.

So people actually MIGHT be complaining also about that price scalation and not want to support it instead of just considering all crybabies!

      Like

      • Jorge Garza

File weight doesn´t matter!!! Who cares about the weight?? I will give a clear example. “Limbo” is 117.40 mb and it is an AWESOME game.

Who cares about games weight? You may say, “People who doesn´t have HDD” but that´s another topic.

        Like

      • Z4M0

it all reduces to “it’s another topic” on every answer ? well… often (dare you say terraria!) file size is translated into game content. Journey on PS3 is awesome too and yet it lasts a blink.

Same happens to LIMBO. 117 Mb = 2 hours of gameplay with low replayability. I’m sure there are retails 3 times its price that last three times that amount of hours, and are also quality titles.

Sorry for being like that, but your analogy doesn’t work for me plus I’ve not read a thing about price scalation wich was my main point.

Anyway, I have no interest on keeping a discuss on this. Thanks for replying tho. Cheers🙂

        Saludos.

Take the financial hit on the wafer yields until the process has matured. Please, it is for your own good! All consoles are sold at a loss at first, but downgrading your system will cause many more problems down the road, unless you are really commited to the 5 year lifecycle publishers are pushing for.

According to the doc, NeoGaf is where most of the industry relevant people go to for feedback on games as well as trends. They also said it takes a long time to be accepted there so most people are mature and don’t want to burn their bridges with them.

Believe me when I heard that a typical gaming forum was actually relevant to the industry I didin’t believe it either but according the the doc and a few searches on the net, they are.

here is a little recap of yesterday:

at first neogaf posted forza was 60fps…. all the comments were negative goin “well xbox cant do 1080p AHHAH” “this proves the drawbacks”

then they announce 1080p.. comments are “well it must not be native” “it must be done by cloud”

now 1080p native is official.. comments are “well it doesnt take much to achieve this” “its not hard to do”

LOL worst forum on the internet

The rumors wont be true. The One uses the same chipset as the PS4 does – The chip is built for laptops and specifically to run cool. The PS4 version will also run hotter than the One’s does. I’m sure MS can come up with a cooling system that is almost as good as Sony’s

      Like

      • usrev

no they don’t you are just making stuff up now. the reported problem with the x1 chip is the edram on die, which the ps4 doesn’t have.

      • TonyLN

No, your just making stuff up without actually knowing what you are talking about.

Microsoft has not actually announced what the clock speed the One is going to run at. So how can anyone claim it’s going to be underclocked?

Furthermore, the CPU/GPU is not a Microsoft design, it’s an AMD design and is based off of Jaguar – a low-TDP design:

        www techpowerup com/180394/amd-jaguar-micro-architecture-takes-the-fight-to-atom-with-avx-sse4-quad-core.html

[AMD unveiled its next-generation “Jaguar” low-power CPU micro-architecture for APUs in the 5W – 25W TDP range, targeting everything from tablets to entry-level notebooks, and nettops.]

Even if the XB1’s core is much faster, that TDP is probably still going to be much lower than even the latest 360 models.

Now, the PS4 is going to use the same Jaguar architecture, just more beefed up. This rumour basically boils down to stating that Microsoft can’t produce cooling half as effective as Sony can.

Wrong. It’s not the same. PS4 uses 1/3rd more GPU shaders attached directly to 8GB GDDR5. X1 uses 1/3rd less GPU shaders attached to 8GB DDR3 with a few MB of eSRAM in the middle to take away the performance hit. Personally, any “Move engines” won’t be using GPU shaders, that’s silly. They’ll be using the Jaguar cores. And the Move shaders are offset by the overhead of the always on Kinect SO… net effect is that PS4 still has 1/3rd more GPU shaders for faster FPS at higher resolution (i.e. true 1080p rendering not upscaled BS like on current gen).

So, you agree with me that the PS4’s Jaguar processor will be using more power and producing more heat — Also, the Kinect has it’s own processor, so nothing from the One will need to be used.

Of course the PS4 will be using more power and producing more heat. But the result is a MORE POWERFUL SYSTEM.

Blitters can be used for anything, so your statement isn’t accurate there at all. They are 4 complete co-processors (as also shown in the leaked MS document quite a while ago), much like the 7 SPE’s in the Cell and they are VERY powerful.
It’s very clear you have no understanding of system architecture an just blabbing after the wannabe know-it-all fools at NeoGAF, but considering your post history, you’re nothing but a troll.
MS didn’t change anything after February 20th because it wasn’t necessary. The system can come by the PS4 on its own now, albeit with a more complicated architecture. Downclocking it however will make that parity much less.

The gddr5 ram in the ps4 will produce an insane amount of heat on the graphics card as the graphics card is pushing out graphics and processing ram at the same time, we could see a role reversal in the day one hardware failures unless sony address this with the box design.

Xbone is having yield problems. That means MS is not producing enough good chips. For every 500 Xbones produced, only 100 make it out the factory and into retail. So MS will be downgrading the GPU, producing inferior graphics quality. There will be major RRODs, and the console won’t even last 3 years on the market.

The combat is a little too repetitive, graphics are muddy, and looks a little more arcade-style than I was hoping, but I already knew that. 1600msp is a little too steep only because I think alot of people will not go for a $20 xbla game. I did enjoy the demo and it’s the closest thing to DayZ on 360. I’ll probably buy it next week.
