Xbox One at PAX Prime on August 30 – September 2

As you head to the Washington State Convention this week for PAX Prime 2013, be sure and stop by the Xbox Booths at #412, #422 and #432 for an great lineup of the latest and greatest games only Xbox One can offer.  Below is an overview of Xbox activities you’ll find exclusively at the Xbox booth this Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2.

The Games
Imagine sixty stations featuring the most dynamic and intense driving, fighting and shooting anywhere on the show floor, all in One place. Add in a stage featuring demos of “Dead Rising 3,” “Project Spark,” “Kinect Sports Rivals,” “Fable Anniversary” and a 7.1 surround sound “Forza Motorsport 5” racing rig. Need I say more.  The list of games you’ll find at the Xbox booth is below.

Ryse: Son of Rome: PAX Primers will be among the first to play “Ryse: Son of Rome’s” co-op multiplayer experience: Gladiator mode. Set in the Roman Colosseum, Gladiator mode plunges you into the brutal world of gladiatorial combat, where you fight cooperatively with your friends against an ever-changing array of enemies, to the roar of thousands of spectators.

Forza Motorsport 5:  North American fans will get their chance to go hands-on in the “Forza Motorsport 5” pits and experience this year’s biggest automotive journey starring the world’s greatest cars and tracks. This is your chance to experience the all-new physics engine and take one of the fastest cars in the world, the McLaren P1 on the fan-favorite Laguna Seca race track.

Battlefield 4: Known for their world-class multiplayer, DICE is bringing Battlefield 4’s epic 64-player battles, vehicular combat and all-out warfare to North American fans this week. Gamers will have a chance to go hands-on with the “Siege of Shanghai” beta launching in early October. With the release of Battlefield 4 this holiday, players will experience an all-new level of destruction and dynamic environments with a game-changing concept called Levolution, and for the first time for Battlefield console gamers, 64-players running at 60 frames-per-second on Xbox One. #BF4

Killer Instinct:  “Killer Instinct” is back again with classic characters, an enhanced combat system and vivid graphics – reimagined for a new generation on Xbox One. We expect nothing but the best from a title with a pedigree as one of the most beloved fighting games of all time.

And of course there will be other surprises at the booth, including games that I’m not at liberty to divulge . . . yet. Update: Titanfall and Lococycle are both playable on the show floor.

Now playing:
Friday through Monday, the Xbox booth will feature four marquee titles: “Dead Rising 3,” “Project Spark,” “Kinect Sports Rivals” and “Fable Anniversary.”

Starting at 10:00am and ending at 6:00pm, 30-minute demos will rotate through the following schedule:

Kinect Rivals – 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm. 4:00pm
Spark – 10:30am, 12:30pm. 2:30pm. 4:30pm
Fable Anniversary – 11:00am, 1:00pm. 3:00pm, 5:00pm
Dead Rising 3 – 11:30am, 1:30pm, 3:30pm, 5:30pm

Kinect Sports Rivals:  We’re planning to make a big splash with the “Kinect Sports Rivals” demo, showcasing the Champion feature (where even I can look athletic) and a new sport made possible with the all-new Kinect technology – Wake Racing (where I don’t look athletic).

Dead Rising 3: The team from Capcom Vancouver is onsite to show fans a demo from the third installment in the blockbuster Dead Rising franchise, available exclusively this November for Xbox One. The demo will feature a special look at the huge variety of combo vehicles in the game like the devastating RollerHawg, a hybrid between a motorcycle and a steamroller that can be used to mow down every zombie in its path. Visit the Xbox booth to see all the zombie-killing fun in action, and pick up some fun audience giveaways.

Project Spark:  The darling of any industry insider, gamer, indie enthusiast, or recovering Minecrafter. “Project Spark” empowers creators to build, play, and share whatever they can imagine and create in the game. It’s simple, powerful, fun, and powered by a dynamic community for endless opportunities to play and create!

Fable Anniversary: “Fable Anniversary” is the spectacularly remastered version of the bestselling RPG on the Xbox, filled with new content including an updated interface, and achievements to bring the best “Fable” experience to the fans. Whether you’re a “Fable” fan old or new, you’ll be able to experience all the magic of the game that started it all on the show floor!

Halo 4 Global Championship

The battle continues at PAX Prime with the Halo 4 Global Championship powered by Virgin Gaming at Benaroya Hall!  Come check out the tournament all weekend long and witness the world’s best “Halo” players battle to claim the title of “‘Halo 4’ Global Champion” and the coveted $200,000 (USD) grand prize. Plus, I’ll be hosting a live stream (that will be available on the Xbox dashboard) of the finals on Sunday from 4p-6p.

No, Kotaku has a source that Kotaku was wrong about their November 5th date (which was a leaked Walmart Document), that it’ll be later than that.

But it WILL be sometime in November.

If you look at the picture it never said comfirmed like everything else.

I’m guessing a range from 11th-14th. (12th being a good day seeing new releases are on Tuesdays) Even 1 day Earlier gets the good press.

Though if Watch Dogs releases on November 19, 2013 and that is a lanuch title, the 1 might not be out until the 19. which would not be bad.

Its better to be a couple days behind the comp then have a terrible half baked launch

What they change is policies and gift not the whole vision of x years of RnD and upcoming plan and vision of the whole unite. drm and headset are very MINOR adjustment unlike getting the kinect out of the box. There is no way this is going to happen, not if they want developper to buy their vision

        Like

      • rem234

Having the kinect inside with the machine, regardless of whether it has to be used or not is going to make it easier to get outside developers to invest into making software for it. If they know that every Xbox One has a kinect out there, they know that there are a number of potential customers for a kinect game they make.

The issue isn’t emulation. (In this case, no you can’t fully emulate it because it is difficult to account for the eSRAM). Its an issue of perception. We are 2 months and change from launch and PS3.5 has their consoles on display, people are playing the games with the DS4, and people can see first hand what they are buying. This is the last big chance to have the consoles on display (Not counting TGS because of the obvious bias). So again, show us what we are buying and let the public go out, touch it, use it, and shout it to the masses.

There was a picture out of Gamescom of a Playstation 4 demo station showing a Windows 7 login screen. This is pretty standard practice for almost everyone involved.

I seem to remember a similar thing in the lead up to the 360 launch as well.

        Like

      • rem234

Exactly doing this is fairly standard and usually chosen by the game devs, depending on how finished the project is. As the PC debug versions they code with tend to be more stable in a lot of cases.

        Like

      • beardyman3218

Exactly its common place to do this because it allows them to iron out any bugs that may occur with an early build of a game e.g. crashing which is why the windows logo appeared during gamescom. They dont do it to be deceptive they do it for practicality. The reason for them being high end is to emulate another set of hardware requires more power than the actual hardware its emulating, you need a very good pc to emulate ps2 games and they still lag.

For the record, at MOST conventions you will find a mix of both test kits and PCs. This has been the way of the world for a long time. Sometimes it’s simply a matter of ease of transport. Other times it’s one small bug (insignificant except due to being on time for an event) can determine this. All companies have done this. It’s only ever “surprising” to those who are ignorant to how the industry works or enjoy sensationalizing to back their own horses.
Given that information, it is still “cool” to know when the games you enjoy are on a “closer to the real deal” machine. But consider this: Even if it was on a legitimate kit, was it set to a “retail environment” or using enhanced RAM? Doesn’t matter. It’s still in development. -Adam

Off topic again, as nobody still gave any answer (Twitter, Support, whatever):

“…we’ll add to your account an amount of currency equal to or greater than
the Xbox Marketplace value of your Microsoft Points…”

1600 MSP became £13.49 = 1575 MSP (ok, the game got slightly cheaper)
    1200 MSP became £9.99 = 1166 MSP (a little cheaper again)
800 MSP became £6.99 = 816 MSP (what happened here?)
400 MSP became £3.49 = 407 MSP (well, with our old points we can’t buy a game again)
    240 MSP became £1.99 = 232 (here’s ok again)

Will those amounts for 800 and 400 MSP be fixed at some point? With the amount I had, as I told before, I could buy a certain amount of games and content. Now, after conversion, I can buy one less. Are people from other places having the same issue? Only in US the conversion was accurate?

No offense, but Major Nelson is too busy to give everyone here support information and frankly, it’s not his job. He does forward them to the correct people from time to time. However, there are many here that like to help out where we can though (if we can).
There are a few glitches occuring now that I haven’t seen during the beta and a few that were fixed before and now reappearing (like my purchases not showing as purchased in the Marketplace, yet do appear in my download history).
I’m sure MS is on it, but I would suggest posting this in the official Xbox Support Forums to get a quicker official and proper reply.

Yes, I know he’s from a totally different area and do not interfere. But, at least, he will be aware of the situation and may notify who’s responsible (ok, I bet he doesn’t do this, but at least I try. I assume other people from Microsoft read this blog either). The community leads a product to success and should be listened.

Sorry, but they had time to be on it. This issue (or whatever it can be called) is reported since Beta.

I’ve already tried to contact Support, as I stated above, but nobody knows how to answer this question.

I post here because it’s a nice space to interact with other players, to know if they have the same issue, if they had it fixed, what’s going on in other countries, see different positions, opinions… like your are doing now. Unfortunately, most of people are not like this. Forums are way too spread. At least here, we have a concentration of people.

At least a few games I tried at gamescom were definitely running on Xbox One consoles, I wouldn’t worry too much about that😉

Thanks for the link, that was a good read:) I will always prefer closed systems because the hardware can be used in so many different ways to boost overall performance.

See, the system is no slouch after all haters!! Even with some higher #’s on the ps4, you won’t see anything that will look better anyways so it’s a worthless point to keep driving on.

What’s truly important is that the design of the Xbox One is nearly bottleneck free, that’s what’s so amazing about it. There are so many data caches and then the co-processors to offload strain from the GPU that it is quite a marvel of engineering.
My only hope is that the software side of things is pretty much done for MS now as well, so developers can tap into it.
