Xbox Fitness coming to Xbox One

Today we announced Xbox Fitness is coming to Xbox One.  The extensive library of videos from the world’s biggest fitness brands including Beachbody’s P90X (Tony Horton) and INSANITY (Shaun T), Jillian Michaels, Tracy Anderson and others, will be available for free with Xbox Live Gold memberships through December 2014. Using Kinect technology, Xbox Fitness can read your heart rate without a monitor, see which muscles are most engaged by measuring the power, force and transfer of weight in your body, and track the quality of your performance by measuring your balance, tempo and form.

Major Nelson – I have been looking forward to the xbox one for a long time. Keeping up on the latest and greatest. But I can’t seem to find this. Will I be able to come home on launch night, download the update, and download the launch games on demand? Or do I need to get the disk based games at launch? I’m hoping digital. Thanks for the help!

I guess what Dennis quoted was in fact, M$ once said “all games’ digital version will be available on day1 of the retail version release.”

As of the console’s launch day, anything can happen. It’s common for server to be overloaded at a new system’s launch. I would not expect too much. Download time is also a concern.

If possible, I recommend getting retail copies of the games you want.

While what you stay is true in theory, if no one can get enough data for the game to start then there’s no way you can play it while it’s downloading. Also too, it won’t be instantaneously start playing the second you hit purchase, you will need to download at least some of the game before it will play.

gamers who wanted xbox to do better than playstation*

fixed that for you. I loved my xbox, and for a while loved the 360. but MS dropped the ball and instead of picking it back up they seemed to sit on the ground and roll in mud. Xbox one looks A LOT better than it did when revealed, but it’s still pretty far behind the competition. I hope it comes back, or better yet, they learn their lesson and destroy sony next next gen. competition is good for the consumer the problem.

how is Xbox One behind the competition? from what has been demonstrated so far, it beats PS4 in almost every single aspect. quality and quality of exclusive games, both announced and those available at launch. kinect vs ps eye. smartglass vs remoteplay, cloud features like drivatar vs… well we haven’t seen Sony being able to demonstrate anything concrete at this point.
Sony does have a better PR department. it takes features that Xbox One takes for granted and then makes a big deal out of it. of course xbox one can do gaming. it has a lot more games available at launch and a lot more in the works. and it can do a lot more besides gaming.

i’ll get a PS4 eventually but definitely not at launch because of the lack of games, and the fact that Sony has focused their attention on small, indie like games. i don’t have anything against indie games. Journey on PS3 was awesome. it’s just that i won’t throw $400 down the drain to get a brand-new console to play indie games. i can play them on PC or current-gen consoles just as well. the only exclusive AAA games available at launch for PS4, Killzone SF, Knack, and DriveClub, are not able to hold me over for a year until the other PS4 titles start to pop out. Xbox One has more than enough AAA games and games that utilize the power of the new console at launch for me.

I was just coming here to post this @gmaillsdown. The Xbox One does everything the PS4 does and more. Microsoft only failed in delivering that message. They’re making up for it now but honestly, they were damned from the beginning. Since the Kinect was announced it became cool for Sony fanboys to completely trash the Xbox. Which is kind of funny when you look at the state of the PS3 at that time. It also came out with an even worse motion controller that went straight to flop-city. Playstation fanboys are easily the loudest fans on the net and similar to German Cockroaches, they are in every crack of the internet. Even this site at times, which completely baffles me.

PS4 and Xbox One are so similar in hardware that it will come down to what software you prefer. We already know Sony is down right awful at creating a nice OS. Xbox One will run a version of Win8, a proven OS. I’d be willing to bet the PS4 will launch with half of its features working, a quarter coming later and another quarter never coming at all. See PS3’s history for my reasons.

Sony has made plenty of improvements from the PS3 to PS4. I owned a PS3 but never bought a single game. I couldnt stand the horrid OS and how everything was a hassle on the console. Slow installs, terribly slow downloads, long and frequent updates were plenty to make me just sell it once Blu-ray players were cheap. The PS4 seems like the Xbox 360 with new hardware. I’m a huge 360 fan, one of my favorite consoles of all time. But the PS4’s Kinect rip off that seems at the level of current gen Kinect, it’s paid online service that’s probably going to be similar to what the Xbox 360’s Live is now and the overall feel is Xbox. Thats just my opinion and observation.

I was expecting some good X1 news everyday, but always got these: TV features, fitness features, Phil Haxxxson boasting what X1 can do, features that will be available somewhen in the future………….

I really want to have some good news to share with my friends, and convince them to buy X1 together. But there isn’t (any good news).

On the contrary, there are always some new games announced for PS4 steadily every other day.

this is how I feel, and honestly one of the reasons I am getting a ps4. it seemed at least once a week a game is announced to be coming to ps4. and no offense but this workout game doesn’t seem like something I’d use at all. It’s not bad at all but xbox needs a couple more games on the level of titanfall’s hype.

This is EXACTLY how i feel. *sigh* I absolutely LOVE my Xbox 360 more then i ever loved my PS3, and am extremely happy i traded for it, but as of right now, I keep leaning towards PS4. With the exception of E3, Microsoft has not had ANY focus on gamers (their core audience). I understand they are trying to reach the casual market with TV features, but honestly, people who want TV features can get a better experience with a one time purchase of a $50 Roku, then they will ever get with the Xbox One. That’s not to say that the Xbox TV features wont be appreciated by some, but it should definitely not be the focus of Microsoft’s marketing. Everytime Microsoft pushes Kinect with it’s gimmicky voice commands or TV, i loose more interest in Xbox One. I have even considered canceling my pre-order several times. I came EXTREMELY close to canceling after seeing the very first Xbox One commercial (focusing on football), but my friend talked me out of it. So….to sum it all up, please please PLEASE start focusing on games.

i for one would not have bought a 360 if it was not for the “gimmicky” Kinect. my PS3 works great for games, does not need a yearly subscription to play online, has a more comfortable controller, and has much better exclusives, and 360 does not have that strong a line-up of exclusives. GoW, Fable, Halo, Forza, and…? the Kinect dancing and fitness games however, really blows the competitors (PS move, Wiimote) out of the water. (and then i realized that most cross platform games actually play better on 360, online play is better, has better integrated services, etc. i even watched the last presidential debates on my 360. but that’s something else.)

when i buy an Xbox One, i buy it for the features and services as well. Xbox One already has a much stronger line-up of launch exclusives than PS4 at this point. the games don’t really need some explanation. just show some trailers of cool bros shooting each other, and that’s about it. it won’t make the console stand out. the new features that are really leading the competition, however, need to be emphasized to let the public know.

What are you talking about? They have showed nothing but GAMES since E3…. Did you just wake up from a month long sleep and miss everything? Of course they will talk about the other aspects of the system here and there, but it’s been “about the games” for months now.

If they weren’t focused on games, why do they have a killer launch line up and all of the support they need? Sony has killzone and knack for FP games that aren’t F2P microtransaction games, that’s it….. sadly for them. From sony I am getting the Nintendo vibe, “buy us now, play really good games next year when they might be coming out”…

Again, I said that’s what I’m getting from it, that is all. If you see more value than I do for a ps4 then by all means buy it and love it.

You do know that sony is pushing for a lot of tv stuff for the ps4 right? they already have music, tv shows and movies on it so I love the whole “ps4 is ONLY for games” argument by people lol.

Most consumers want an all in one device and MS knows this and that is why they are pushing in that direction. Sure, the VERY small minority of “hardcore gamers” will flock to the ps4, but I bet most of them will get an XBO as well (off the bat, XBO has the better lineup imo).

It’s all about marketing and PR and Sony has that down pat. Remember, Sony came up with the “PS3. It only does everything” ad campaign. Their systems are definitely not “gaming and that’s it”. I’m thinking a lot of people forgot a large portion of the beginning of Sony E3 press conference was them showing some of their TV and entertainment functionality. The PR helped gamers forget about all that, so people see it as, “OMG OLOL PS4 HARDCORE GAMERS AND XBOX FOR TV… AHAHA LOLOL”

Meanwhile, those same people pretend that Microsoft’s ENTIRE E3 was focused on nothing but games.

Nope. I suppose you could call it an oxymoron if you only pay for Xbox Live Gold for the fitness program, but a lot of people will be paying for the Gold and it will be for multiplayer gaming. Therefore, since you’re already paying for gold for other stuff, the Fitness program is FREE with the membership you already have. As in, nothing extra to pay.

I bet they are just not sure how to price it at this point and want to see how popular it can be when it is free. I suspect they throw up a bunch of different ways to pay and see what sticks.

To everyone else who lives in an unsupported region and or uses an account not from his/hers region,

Go check if you can make any purchases from the store, it seems that after the update there has been an issue that the currency you are using must match your physical location, I must know because it seems we have been locked out from purchasing anything.

The error should be about billing

does it tell you “this content is not available from you current location”? that problem have been around since the market place launched (first time I experienced it was with gears of war 1 free DLC back in 2006/2007) because some games are ip or region locked (region locked games will give “this game is not compatible with your console region” error) and there is games and content that are region free and ip free. for example I had to go through vpn to buy silent hill downpour when for dead rising 2: off the record I didn’t have to.

The funny thing is I use prepaid money so it is completely unrelated, later on I found a guy who was complaining about it on the forums, oddly enough he was also living where I am living. He used a VPN from the region of his account and it fixed the issue, but now that the website now requires a credit card, that is very time consuming and complex to do on the console for such a simple task of just purchasing.
