How fast is to redeem a code on Xbox One?

  • Karl Standen

That’s the beauty of QR codes not a new invention at all but still good:)

Why not show it working at a more reasonable distance?
Unless you play games on a big screen tv sitting 2 feet away.

Assuming it works from a reasonable distance excited about this.. typing in those codes it a PITA!

    • Bert George

man, i totally would be stoked even if it had to be that close. sure beats typing in 25 characters using the controller.

Always got to pick out something to complain about. I’m sure it works a little further away too, but does it really matter?

Would you rather sit and type a long code into your console using your controller (even with a keyboard it’s annoyingly slow) or simply walk a couple of feet to your TV and let it be done within 5 seconds?

I actually usually do it from my computer.

That’s fine, as do I (the chatpad on my controller is a bit iffy sometimes) – but even then it takes much longer to look at the card, type the code, look at the card for the next bit etc.. than it does to just point your card at the camera.

      • shinji

Ahh yes. I would agree. The one thing I forgot to mention is that I usually get my codes online via instant delivery. (Thank you Amazon) Of course in that case the camera would not be of any help at all.

        Like

      • F.Witzer

They should just give Amazon a link instead of the code, so you can click on the link and put in your Xbox credentials and it will credit you. but Copy and Paste is not too bad.

Yup. I agree however I don’t think that is possible quite yet.

Come on! Are you seriously going to complain about that? This is pretty awesome and way better than keying it in on the controller or even the chat pad. Entitled people are never satisfied…

Again, not complaining about the feature, but pointing out a flaw in the demo.

I guess it would be hard.. as I would have to dig out the kinect as well.

not being a fan boy is a bad thing? You should always expect and demand the best.. this coming from a Day 1 360 buyer who waited in 20 degree weather in the middle of the night to get my hands on it, and a Day 1 pre order of the Xbox One. So I fully support it, but I do expect the best.. sorry I am not a sheep…

Ok, cool, just get the Xbox one out to customers so we can start the public beta test…and buy games that SHOULD be in 1080p but, only get them at 720p…

(Every system has it’s bugs, no matter how many testers there are, the first 6 months is the biggest deal on a public software/hardware release)

Neat. Wish we had actually gotten that Milo game out of it though (remember they were using this feature to show drawings). Who knows what it could have been…

Guessing there are a ton of people that have been on longer, more GS and more games played… I’ve been on live since splinter cell CT, have GS of over 110k, and 382 games played (more on the shelf)… got a code but not sure if I want to get a One… leaning towards the PS4 right now. Wait a good year anyhow since I have a ton of games to yet play, see how it all shakes out. Guessing the One will drop the kinect and make it cheaper as well.

Kind of hope they never release a sku without Kinect. That’ll fragment the player base and developers will not add Kinect features to their games

That’s freaking fantastic. I use Xbox music all the time on windows 8.1 for free, was always disappointed I couldn’t use it on 360 for free.

That also solves my problem with not being able to rip CDs to the console. I’ll rip it to my PC and add it to the my Xbox Music Library. That just made my day, Thanks!

Because unlike some, I don’t want to use a Kinect to jump around in front on my TV, prefer to sit down relax and play my games. its a way over priced console, its not worth the 500euro as it is. As i suggested before it needs to come with more stuff, like Xbox live for a year, perhaps a battery back for your controller. or even 2 controllers. a free full downloadable game code. something to make it worth buying!
