        £3 pounds not dollars. The point is you can’t advertise something as 50% off when it isn’t, be it a game or a tin of baked beans. Once again our price of £49.99 includes VAT and 50% off is £24.99 including VAT. I’m not really sure why you are even arguing this, it doesn’t even affect you.

        £6 isn’t a lot when you are talking about spending £50 on 2 discounted games that would have cost you over £100, but the point is if MS said 50% off, not 44% off! I’m not being ripped off!

    The xbox team were so close to doing something good.. but to make a few more pounds, you had to take 45% off instead of 50. This means, once again, the ps guys get these two games cheaper than us. I had fully intended on purchasing both tomb raider and thief on the xbox one.. but now, out of principle, I will leave both. Congrats, guys, you’ve just lost £45 from one customer, and I think there will be more just like me..

      Kinda dramatic isn’t it? Not buying “out of principle”? So their sale isn’t as good as Sony’s and thus you won’t be buying a game that you apparently think will be fun and want to play otherwise? If Sony’s prices were $4 higher would you be happily paying exactly what Microsoft is charging?

      Falling into treating game sales like United Nations negotiations is something I see lots of gamers do these days & I can’t see how it doesn’t sap a lot of the fun out of the hobby. It’s obviously your money & time, so of course do as you like; but I hope you aren’t letting your video game sales principles keep you from enjoying your video game playing.

        Nicely put. Playing video games is a hobby and all about the fun. Over a few pounds or whatever these things are called they use is ridiculous. We have a generation of spoiled people and I’m scared for what will happen to these people when they finally grow up.

        I’m sure it was an honest mistake due to the fact that it’s fixed now. Less than 15 hours after it went up for the wrong price. Not bad IMO.

        He stated as a matter of principle and had he went and purchased it at the price they were asking last night and then called customer service and let them know they corrected the issue the company would have took care of him. But not now that he may never look again and see it’s fix he deprived himself from having fun. Over a few bucks? Don’t make sense to me.

        It was an honest mistake and it’s been fixed.

        Could have made the purchase already and been playing and then just call customer service for the difference back. But instead he chose to make a big deal on the blog about it and be all dramatic about the principles.

    Currently argusing with Xbox Support over the discount amount. The PS4 is advertising Thief and Tomb Raider as 50% off same as the Xbox One and their store is showing £49.99 down to £24.99 and £44.99 down to £22.49 respectively, yet the UK xbox store is showing Thief as £27.99 and Tomb Raider at £24.99, and the answer I get is “prices vary by region”. Same happened with Ryse last month, the UK discounted price was wrong and was corrected, and with marketplace content when the switch was made from MSP to currency

    Regarding the Xbox One UK prices being wrong, I just spoke to support and this was the outcome:

    I just talked to my manager and we’ve personally sent a feedback on this to our higher department so that they’ll become aware of this issue.
    Also, we’d like to request you to contact the game developer as well so that they’ll know that you have personally encountered the difference in discounted pricing. You can also provide the reference number to them.

    I pointed out the same offer is also available on PS4 but priced correctly. I’ll use the link they provided to contact the developer now and hopefully it will be corrected.

      When we had the pricing issue with Ryse I contacted Mike Ybarra on Twitter. Done the same for this sale. Hopefully we can all get the message across and come tomorrow the prices will be what we were expecting.

    The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, NBA 2K14, Thief, and CoD: Ghosts are NOT advertised AT ALL on the Xbox 360 dashboard as being on sale. No expiration dates are given. It would be nice to see this information provided on the dashboard. I have missed game sales in the past because of this. The sales posted on Major Nelson’s blog don’t always show up on the dashboard. Why?

      Just like other sales don’t always show up with other companies. Sometimes you have to know where to look (here on this blog for instance) and how to find the sales. Brick and motor companies have sales everyday that they don’t advertise but when you go in their store you find them. Or word of mouth or many other ways.

      I find it cool to be on the cutting edge. Not only on this site but there are others as well that will give you glimpses of what may be on sale but not advertised otherwise. I have mentioned one place for that in a previous post.

    Help please . My 360 HDD is full to capacity .
    Is it possible to plug a external HDD like a Western Digital 1TB , and move /copy games to this as storage only – not to be played from .
    I am just thinking of saving time having to keep re downloading games .

        Never tried myself but I belive Horizon let you extract stuff from your external storage so you can keep it(Only used it for offline updates). You’d need to put it back on your storage after if you want to use it.

      This definitely seems like a missed opportunity for Microsoft. Not sure if it’s a lack of competence at Microsoft or a fear of piracy – but not giving us flexibility in storage options is definitely not a smart move.

      My Wii U has a 3tb external drive attached – no issues, and all the games run off it without a hitch.

      My PS3 could potentially be expanded using a laptop hdd – I haven’t done this yet.

      If my Xbox 360 (or if the Xbone) gave us hdd flexibility, I’d be more inclined to purchase more digital games. This cuts out the middle man and leads to more profit for developers and Microsoft. It offers more convenience for me. It’s win-win.

    Nice to see these deals – but I’m going to wait.
    I imagine the Bioshock Infinite season pass ($20) will be on sale sometime in the next few months – I’ll wait for that.

    Walking Dead got terrible reviews, but as a fan of the show, I still want to give it a go – but I’ll wait until it’s below $10.

    Thief – ugh… as a huge fan of the original trilogy, I can’t be bothered even trying this “re-imagining”, especially since so many critics (that actually played the original games) are panning it as a terrible remake. I imagine it’ll be a bargain bin game pretty soon and maybe I’ll give it a go then. Just hard to justify supporting the dev with any of my cash after they spit in the face of fans by trying to appeal to a new generation of gamers who can’t be bothered with playing older games. If you’re reading this and have not played the original Thief (and want to play the best stealth game ever made) then go download it on Steam (or wherever). The graphics are dated but the gameplay is still solid!

        Have you played the original? If so, how does it compare? If not, you’re missing out on a solid gaming experience and missing the point of my post. I’m not playing it to spite the developers who choose to ignore fans of the original.

        Will me not purchasing it have any impact at all? Maybe not – but the game is now discounted a month after coming out (which is pretty quick), the reviews have been poor (as I noted before) and the publisher mentioned it was disappointed with the sales. So, I’m not giving them $60 for it. And I’m not giving them $30 this weekend for it.
        And besides, if any developer is really confident in their game, they’ll offer a game demo.

        I tried an old thief briefly back in the day but dont have much memory from it. Yes, an early discount is a bad sign and so are the bad reviews. Due to that i hesitated in buying it but since not much else is available i gave it a shot. Im glad i did and finished it 100%. The game is kind of broken and unpolished but if you can look past that its great. When its dirt cheap u should give it a go and i would be curious what u think of it.

        I bought it as well once they’d sorted the 50% discount out properly and I kind of like it. Never experienced the earlier versions so I can’t compare. I’ll certainly look at finishing it 100% (our of interest how long did it take you?).
