Xbox Live Games with Gold for June 2014

Next month, Xbox Live Gold members can look forward to a total of five free games on Xbox One and Xbox 360. As Head of Xbox Phil Spencer recently announced, June’s system update will debut Games with Gold on Xbox One, with Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault. We will announce specific dates that these games will be available soon.

On Xbox 360, Xbox Live Gold members will receive a bonus third title in June to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Games with Gold. Starting Sunday, June 1st, Dark Souls (normally US $19.99) will be free for Xbox Live Gold members through June 15th.

Then on June 16th, Xbox Live Gold Members can download two titles, Charlie Murder (normally US $9.99) and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (normally US $29.99) , for free through June 30th.

*Titles are available as free downloads for qualifying Xbox Live Gold members in all markets where Xbox Live is available. Some regions may offer different titles depending on market availability.

I wonder if the first month for Xbox One gold will be those games. I remember when the program was originally announced last year they had, I think, Halo put up as “a game” but on the first month it wasn’t available. They fine print was that the game would eventually come up for free, not that it was the first game coming up. So I’m not getting too excited for the first titles mentioned for Xbox One.

This does mean our HD’s will fill up faster so that external drive update couldn’t come at a more perfect time.

First game was Fable 3 but yes the fine print said would eventually come for free lol This one does say June games.

So it sounds like we’ll have to wait for the June update for the X1 games to be free. Hopefully it’s at the beginning of the month and not the last week of June.

Looking forward to all the games though, first time since the program started that I don’t have any of the games being offered on the 360.

It should be soon. There was just a beta update a few days ago to fix a few issues and things are running smoothly now.

We’ve been testing the June update for a bit now. I’m guessing it’s because they want to get this one out early June. I’m going to guess that barring any issues, it will come out the day of the E3 presentation.

Just out of curiosity…when you’re in the beta program, can you game or chat with others who aren’t?

        Like

      • StormRaging

IIRC yes you can, chat I mean. You can game with everyone. I think it would have to be a huge change in the way they do things network wise to stop gaming between update and non update. I think they only time you cannot is when they release new audio codecs and such but I think that only applies to private chats which would now be party chats.

    Thank You MS!
I can really recommend Dark Souls. It took me me 170 hours and 2 controllers (shoulder button gave out, did not throw it when I really wanted to) to reach 1000GS, but it was sooo worth it.
For only $15 we also get Ultra Street Fighter 4 out of it as DLC, which is great.

Hallelujah!!! Big step for XBL (at last) This doesn’t mean XBL is better or worse from PSN, no need to make a comparison. BUT keep raising the quality up, OK?
Otherwise good things won’t be remembered… Well Thanks

this means xbl is now on par with psn in some ways. psn still has killer discounts on games every week though that ms needs to catch up to.

If I recall, they also announced that X1 will have some deep discounts in a VIP area for gold members…We’ll see next month!

Can we add the Xbox One games to our account even if we don’t have an Xbox One (yet)?

    Like

    • Dylan

You should through the Xbox website. By purchasing them when they are free, should add to your account.

Xbox One is different, they are not permanently attached to your account as a purchase.

    • Death Dealer

Xbox(dot)com allows it but I don’t entirely know if you need to have a console registered though for the Xbox One games to finish the “purchase”.

    • Michael Burden

I don’t believe so. If you read the fine print when they announced it, it says the game must be DOWNLOADED during the designated window. This is different from the 360 where you can queue the download but not finish it until later.

Dont you think that is stupid to give SSF4 AE, at the end when the ultra edition is coming for digital release on june 4th.

    • vai_levar_no_cu

suppose they hope that people upgrade to ultra

      Like

    • Michael Burden

Actually it is pretty smart since you can upgrade the Arcade Edition to the Ultra one. People with the free version may be likely to pay for the upgrade.

      Like

      • Harold Rivera

Yes but it would be better if It was available June 1st than 16th, by the way ps3 version of ultra(digital) has issues so those who pre ordered it on 360 may have the same issues, such as the game unable to start and losing your previously bought DLC just a heads up.

        Like

    • x$NIPERx

No, I think it’s stupid to even bother making another SSF4 game with the word turbo or ultra added to it. It’s a dirty way to milk and trick the loyal gamer in buying the same game over again. This is why Capcom is on it’s way out.

I don’t yet have an Xbox One, but I will in the future (later this year, hopefully). I’ve got a question for GfG with the X1: can I “purchase” these games via the web store so they’re linked to my account, then when I do get an X1, I can just queue the games to my download queue?

I hate to be “that guy” and make the comparison, but I do know browsing games on the PlayStation web store under PS+ can be purchased so they are tagged to your account, then downloaded later. I frequent the web store of PlayStation, but have never used the web store for Xbox (despite having a 360 for years). Is this possible?

    Like

    • x$NIPERx

You sure can! From the xbox dot com site of course. I’ve purchased a few XB1 games from the site with my account/gamertag and was able to download them later on from my XB1.

      Like

      • Hapolo

But I think that’s because your XB1 is already linked to your account isn’t it? I too make all my purchases from xbox dot com and they download to my 360. However, I still do not own an XB1, I don’t know if I will be able to download the free games without a linked console…

Yea it looks like if you don’t have the X1 you can’t get the free games “ahead of time” because it says you have to download the game during the free period in order to have access to it.

    • Mike

You won’t be able to download it from the site like 360?

      Like

      • ImTheMetalLord

Only way to download it is if you have the X1…even if you set it up from the site it will never really download. Just reading the small print on it all.

watch them release update on 20th, they don’t even know when’s the update will be ready and we are at 30th May LOL… Give me a break man, why they say beginning June xbox one will get free games with gold like the xbox 360, that made it sound like both consoles will get free games at the same time. There was no mention of needing a system update to get the games… Yes I’m disappointed because I wanted to play Max this Sunday (no work, plenty of time) but man this is Microsoft, always late to the party🙂

As a costumer, I have all the rights in the world to complain😛 I know they owe me nothing but when I’m disappointed nothing gonna stop me from expressing my feelings. If it wasn’t for people complaining and sony selling more consoles like 2 ps4 for each xbox one, games with gold on x1 and many other things would never came.
