Pinball FX2 Xbox One Update

Earlier this month, Zen Studios announced that Pinball FX2 is coming to Xbox One. Here’s an update on the title from Zen, including news on a much-requested feature:

First of all, we’d like to thank the Zen Studios community for their feedback on our announcement of the Xbox One version of Pinball FX2. We cannot underestimate the importance of your support, insight, and yes, even criticism regarding our projects. Zen Studios has a few announcements to make affecting Pinball FX2 fans and particularly the Xbox One version of the game.

Microsoft and Zen Studios have taken your feedback to heart, and seeing that many of you were very upset with the news that table transfers between Xbox 360 and Xbox One would not be happening, we have some good news for you! We will be able to implement table transfers on Xbox One starting from Pinball FX2’s launch. Any available table on Xbox One that was previously purchased for Xbox 360 can be imported to the new version free of charge.

However, as this process will take a bit more development time for the game, Pinball FX2 version of Xbox One will see a slight delay from its original release date this week to next month. We apologize to any fans affected by this delay, but we pledge to make it up to you by incorporating this highly desired feature.

Once again, we cannot thank you enough for your support through this process, as well as Microsoft’s, who took your feedback very seriously and worked with us to implement this feature. And again, we do apologize for the delay while we create the Pinball FX2 experience that our fans both want and deserve. We’re excited to bring Pinball FX2 to Xbox One owners, to have their previous purchases honored and transferred, and we can’t wait to share with you what we’ve got coming in the future.

We thank you for your continued support!

Guys thank yourselves for standing up and letting your comments and criticism be heard. don’t be fooled into thinking it was because of zen or ms’s sudden change of heart. So please don’t go thanking either one as the true reason/story why it couldn’t be initially done wont be admitted probably.

Next time someone tells you to back down and just except defeat silently tell them to fucq themeselves until you are heard. If it wasn’t for the vocal few we’d probably still be getting told we need to buy our dlc yet again.

Give yourselves a thank you not zen or ms.

Actually Zen wanted to do it all along like they did with Zen Pinball on PS3/Vita/PS4 and Pfx1 and 2 on 360. MS told them they couldn’t, and so Zen basically said, in a nice way, to raise hell about it so that MS would let them do it.

didn’t you already have the 360 version. If you did its the same damn game ported as-is

If thats not the case and your first time you must be in the minority because theres a huge section of gamers that bought it already for 360 and don’t wanna buy them again.

Personally i’ll wait a month and not have to buy my tables again. While a good game its not like omg i gotta get this yet again feeling for x1. Pretty sure most users can wait

Worth the wait! Thanks for listening to the fans, as this is big to us!

To Microsoft,,, I beg you, please stop trying to force ideas, resales, etc. that are obviously BAD to your supporters. WE DON’T LIKE IT and its hard to keep supporting a company that keeps burning their hands on the stove.

Think of this as a relationship…. you cheat on me once, i’ll forgive and forget….
twice, I’ll give you another shot just because I really love you and want to make this relationship work…. but if you keep cheating then I have to leave you… and since I am a gamer I will go to the next piece of hot @$$…. PS4, I hope you will stay faithful to me because I truly do love you, but sometimes you got to let you miss me to realize what you actually had…. in this context that would be your MILLIONS OF FANS…

Thanks again for the update and the solution we were looking for. But don’t let it happen again lol.

implying that what zen said was the truth or maybe half truth. Remember zen has the most to gain if people have to buy tables again. so while i do believe ms had a part in this mess i don’t think zen is completely innocent as they wanna have us believe.

It seems awfully suspect that zen is so eager to put the blame on ms and claim that its not their fault

In any case glad they finally figured out that this doesn’t make much sense economically (as most users from 360 do not wanna rebuy the same stuff twice) and public relations wise its not worth it

People would gladly line up to buy the x1 version if they could import what most people already invested a huge chunk into tables.

The feature worked on day one with ps3/ps4, odd it didn’t work only on the console that hate video games?

      • Brandon Taco-joe Watts

True! They have the most to gain… but that doesn’t explain why PS3/PS4 had this capability to begin with. Yes, we don’t know the full story or what transpired behind closed doors, but we do know that SONY did something that MS didn’t do…. and I highly doubt that they deployed a “sabotage the competition” scenario.

but IMO and that’s just an opinion, for MS to retain current and gain new customers to there latest hardware, why would you NOT make this a thing from the beginning versus waiting for the uproar and back-lashing to start to rethink that deal with ZEN? That’s why I reference the “burn your hand on the stove” example because its not the 1st time they try to make the consumers eat $*** and call it caviar.

But still we do not know what happen during negotiations and I really don’t want to know at this point; i’m just glad they rethought it and made the change. But this still adds to the bad taste I have developed since the E3 fiasco. one game alone won me over and that’s KILLER INSTANT, and MS has already gotten rid of the season 1 developers, and even tho the season 2 developers are a renowned developer, they to are currently dropping the ball, but that’s another can of worms to deal with.

Zen has always allowed free table imports for every game where it was possible. Pfx1->2, ZP1->2, Marvel Pinball, Star Wars Pinball, PS3, Vita, PS4, so I think you can safely assume they wanted to do the same thing here too.

      • Brandon Taco-joe Watts

True, so when looking at ZEN’s history of this title thats why IMO i think MS didn’t do something that SONY was willing to do, which makes me wag my finger at MS. Not the 1st time they’ve done some silly $***

“Microsoft and Zen Studios have taken your feedback to heart”
Stop pretending you cared, the only reason we got support is because the pinball FX care enough, they even told us MS didn’t allow it but they were trying to push it.
So thanks Zen studios for loving your fans enough to push against MS and their silly ideas of what we want.
But yea, thanks MS for the external storage on 360, we really love to see how much you care about feedback.

There’s a very slim chance it could be them but considering how MS keep taking a sh*t on small studios, I doubt it.

I mean, MS prevent Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! from coming out on xbox because they feel like it.

        Here’s the line of event:

-Oddworld stanger’s wrath come out on xbox huge in 2005 as an xbox exclusive
-360 come out, game isn’t backward compatible

-MS ask them to make a HD port after they annonce it on ps3
-MS tell them the game didn’t sell enough to allow them to be on xbox original
-MS tell them the game is too big for XBLA
-MS tell them the game is too cheap for game on demand
-Dev want to put new’n’Tasty on 360 and xbone
-MS tell them to jump off a cliff if they don’t have a publisher

Props to Microsoft and Zen Studios for making the change.

These kind of problems would not have occurred if Backwards Compatibility was available – however, this story is further proof that solutions ARE available. So, despite what some people might want you to believe (I’m looking at you Grandpa Michael Burden), there are always options available to implement backward compatibility:

Nintendo did it with the Wii (Gamecube games/controllers) and Wii U (Wii games/controllers)
Microsoft did it to some extent Xbox 360 (Xbox Games)
    Sony did it PS3 (PS1 and PS2 – for some PS3 models)
    Emulation is an option
Offering “free upgrade” programs like Zen Studios did in this story.
Offering “paid upgrades” like Nintendo did with VC games on Wii U

I imagine we’ll see more examples of it on the Xbox One – which will help encourage users to transition from the 360 to the newer console (Minecraft will allow saves to be ported, etc).

But, at the end of the day, I’m just happy I won’t have to repurchase my old Pinball tables to my Xbox One – and I’m now willing to purchase new tables to further support Zen Studios.

Thanks Zen and MS….lots of happy (or at least they should be) customers.

I find if funny how everyone is so quick to put this on MS however it’s Zen that has to delay it’s release because they have to do some additional programming to make it happen. Does anyone use logic anymore?

I do agree with some that said it falls on both parties and they each had a hand in it on both counts. Causing the issue and fixing the issue.

Thanks again guys for listening to the customers.

Come on, man. It is MS console and they are responsible for what happens on it. As for your delay logic. Why put the coding in the game if MS refused to allow the table transfer to begin with? I would save the time and not put the code in myself.

      • Peter

yes and no.Your implying the company making the game has no say. Could very well be that zen in reality wants us to buy the table again because they can profit again.. Saying a very hard to disprove ms says its not doable because of tech limitations, etc It doesn’t leave room for argument

Again we might never know the true story.I’m not so eager to put it all on ms persay,

        Like

      • deadbox102

No, I’m implying MS never should have allowed this to happen. They knew PS allows the tables to transfer. I don’t care if Zen did want to charge for the tables. MS should have stepped up and demanded its customers be treated the same as the PS customers. This falls squarely on MS shoulders.

Using TV manufacturers is by no means a good comparison and you know it. Yes, cable/satellite providers are responsible to pay attention to what their competition is doing in order to provide the best possible value. I do agree the internet/world is full of stupid people with no common sense.
