Minecraft: Xbox One Edition Arrives this Friday

MinecraftPlasticPack_1920 x 1080

Minecraft enters the next generation with the release of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, which will become available Friday, September 5th for download in the Xbox Store.  Owners of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition can upgrade for just $4.99 USD, while new players can download the full game for $19.99 USD.

More great news for existing Xbox 360 Minecraft players: All downloadable content players have purchased for the Xbox 360 Edition is available free for re-download on Xbox One. Additionally, you can transfer your favorite Xbox 360 worlds and content to the Xbox One Edition so you won’t lose your creations.

With worlds up to 36 times larger than on Xbox 360, now there’s an even bigger canvas to create, with four player split-screen on one console or up to eight players over Xbox Live.

Later this month, select retailers will sell the full game Digital Download Code and the full game packaged disc will be on retail store shelves globally this holiday.

      What about Plants V Zombies?

i have a Xbox One in Hong Kong but had to register it in the UK, whilst my Xbox 360 is registered in Hong Kong and the same name tag is used with both.

Xbox One becomes legally available in Hong Kong later this month and have purchased about US$120 worth of games alone in August and spending more now with all the specials on – so hopefully can transfer quite a bit over if this report is correct.

My daughter has MineCraft, just a shame that I’ll have to get another controller for the Xbox One for her to enjoy it with a friend – these being quite expensive.

You MUST play Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition (retail disc) WHILE connected to Xbox LIVE (at least once) on the same gamertag that you plan to purchase the Xbox One Edition on.

Simply put… make sure that you sign-in to Xbox LIVE, then unlock 1 achievement and check to make sure that there is a date stamp on it. If you have at least 1 achievement with a date stamp on it, you’ve played the game online on that gamertag.

The $4.99 USD price for those who own Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will
expire 1 year AFTER the release of the Xbox One Edition (i.e. September 5, 2014 to September 5, 2015).

That is to say… beginning September 6, 2015, the price for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will be $19.99 for all.

    And
even if you don’t have an Xbox One now, you CAN purchase the game on
the Xbox website and it will be available to download when you sign-in
    on your Xbox One.

You get to KEEP the game and pay the $4.99 price IF you have
        – played Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition (retail disc) while connected to Xbox LIVE on the Xbox 360
        OR
        – purchased the digital download of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition for Xbox 360

Also… you MUST use the game gamertag that has played/purchased Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition to get the Xbox One Edition at the $4.99 price.

If you have NEVER played/purchased Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, then you’ll have to pay the $19.99 price to keep the game.

In other words, only the reduced price is expiring for those who have played/purchased the Xbox 360 Edition. Once you PURCHASE the Xbox One Edition (regardless of the price you paid at the time), you KEEP the game on that same gamertag.

I just hope they add a textures browser that has the free textures made by the PC community. The game should also be updated as regularly as the PC version now theres no excuse not to update it more regularly.

You really should learn how the update system works on consoles.

I understand they go through certification but if blizzard can bring out updates for diablo in time with the PC I don’t see why 4j can’t. Still would be nice though just to have free textures from the PC community. Either way I’m not complaining I think its a great game.

Because the PC version of Minecraft is coded in java but the console version is coded in C++. For diablo they use the same programming language.

Don’t say that, mate, do you remember the PS trophies that released for PS3, they are so different than Xbox 360.

        Like

      • Gazmaster3D

True but I’m guessing that seeing as both the ps4 and xbo conversions are both being worked on at the same time it would just be the same lists. Time will tell, that’s if the trophy list is legit.

How can you compare Chromehounds to Minecraft? They have nothing in common, other than you are wrong in your opinion of both. Chromehounds was a decent game with a bad name and I was saddened when Sega closed down its servers.

It’s easy to compare two awful games.

Apparently you like awful games. Chromehounds was nowhere near “decent” whatsoever as many who bought the game quickly returned it….and EBGAMES allowed it because it was an awful game.

As for Minecraft….what can I say? It is digital Lego. It’s sad to see people waste their time and lives playing such garbage.
