That blue one sure does look nice@! 500GB would help out a lot with all my downloaded games on my 360.

no I meant why is this even a thing? drop 200 on this or save your money and get the xbox one, it just seems like something alot of people don’t care about anymore. I could be wrong and everyone is excited but I just think this is a (we have too many xbox 360s on the warehouse sell them cheaper to get rid of them) type situation.

see this people ? we are having a discussion, not trolling each other, this is how conversations go. Thanks for being civil Professor, as to bundles, they appeal to certain collectors, but to the general public a kid is going to want to get the system they don’t care about the free game unless its something they want to play, as an adult you only have so much money to spend and if you are going to drop the money on an console, the cheaper one will always draw your eyes attention. Gamers are a completely different category, WE WANT IT ALL. I fall into this. lol

      • serge2k

Yeah I believe most “core gamers” like you and me have already moved on. There are people out there that have never bought the system and because of price and games being readily cheap now they will scoop this up. A lot of parents that think this is a value compared to the next gen consoles will buy them for the kiddies that don’t know better. There will still be a market for the 360 for the next 2-5 years maybe even more. I believe it was the PS2 that was still selling consoles years after the next consoles came out. In matter of fact they stopped producing it last year and new games were still coming out for it as well.

      • Monsterous Rage

serge2k thats true I guess, but at the same time as to the parents buying it without really knowing, that relates to my original statement of getting rid of stock, anyway two of you have given reason for its sales I can’t say more other then don’t waste the money you will get left behind…. there is enough on the library for you to be satified and the new games this fall are only going to make you wish you didn’t buy the 360. Love XBOX360 great system was a blast to play with friends and so on but you wouldn’t buy a phone that was going to be out of date in 6 months, treat this the same. and sorry Major Nelson, I’m not trying to screw Microsoft, I’m just saying its not needed. And its just my opinion, how much does that matter in the long run lol have a good one guys

I have an Xbox One but my 360 still gets the same amount of play, if not more, due to a huge backlog of games I have there. I’d love to add another 360 to my bedroom, but I don’t care for the new design. The looks are fine, I just don’t care for how they cut the audio video output options which limits its use for me with my current TVs/projectors. I’d me more inclined to pick up the older S design and upgrade the hard drive to 500GB.

Let go of these ancient standards. They’ve been around since the 80s.

      Like

      • Michael Burden

Yes, but games like Rocksmith, Guitar Hero, and Rock Band are completely unplayable through HDMI due to the audio lag. In this case, the old standards are far superior.

        Like

      • beardyman3218

I don’t have audio lag through hdmi.

        Like

      • Michael Burden

Then you obviously haven’t played those games with it. They are pretty much unplayable, you’ll fail a song within seconds. That is why none of the games recommend using HDMI audio for the game – even Bandfuse comes with an analog audio adapter for those that use HDMI because it is such a problem.

        Like

      • beardyman3218

I have and there is 0 lag. Baring in mind I’m using pcm stereo on these games it’s pointless using dolby 5.1 since all you will get is stereo sound compressed even more. Maybe that’s what’s causing the lag. There is also an option if you do have lag to alter the response time if I remember correctly.

        Like

      • Michael Burden

All I know is all those games were completely unplayable through HDMI only on my system…period. And all the developers recommend using anything but HDMI for audio output with analog giving the best results, which I have found to be correct in my usage. Those results make me leery of the versions eventually coming to the One and PS4 since they are HDMI based machines, but at least I have an optical audio output for my One.

        Like

      • Liquidfx Xboxdude

Rocksmith has lag no matter what you do.

        Like

      • Michael Burden

No it doesn’t, only through HDMI. That why it is recommended to use analog audio.

        Like

i tried that and there was less lag but still noticeable. maybe i did something wrong.

Smart people buy the 4GB version and the 320GB hard drive to slide in there for $40 off eBay. I’m sure the 500GB version will be sold online as well for a little more $. This is what I did anyway.

      Like

      • Hank Hill

So it’s smarter to buy the 4GB bundle and then spend another $40 for a 320GB HD, when you could just buy the 500GB bundle for the same price to begin with? yeah that totally makes sense.

        Like

      • KaosTheory

I guess I was thinking more of what I did for my second 360 vs this actual bundle. Just buy the 4GB console (I bought it off craigslist) and then get a hard drive. Anyone buying these bundles should just save their money and put towards a One.

        Like

      • eAbyss

That 320GB hard drive obviously isn’t official at that price. You risk data corruption every time you update and are unable to play original Xbox games with 3rd party drives.

        Like

    • eAbyss

It gets you’re foot in the door while you’re saving that extra $100 for the hard drive. I got a 4GB system at first then bought a hard drive and Kinect later. I had been using friends’ Xboxs before and was waiting for the long rumored slim so I didn’t have much for it at that time so it worked out nice til I was able to get a hard drive later on.

I works great for children. Parents usually don’t like to spend that much for one thing and Microsoft will almost be guaranteed a hard drive purchase within a year.

      • Axcalibur

Agreed! I had a slick Halo faceplate. It was blue with Master Chief just standing on the side. Not sure why faceplates weren’t more popular (possibly the ridiculous high prices for some, or the fact that they didn’t make more “game related” faceplates).

        Like

      • beardyman3218

I can see 3rd parties being able to produce faceplates for the Xbox one it would be pretty easy due to its consistent shape. It would have to clip around the current case though as its non removable.

Why can’t we just use a large external like on the Xbox One (I currently have a 2TB external connected)? I understand that we can use up to 2 flash drives currently, but who wants to go that route. Flash drives are really made for file transfer, not storage. They don’t last.

    Like

    • Jan Václavík

They should last long enough – there is some write limit with those things (as is with other storage solutions), but with games you do mostly reads and its not likely the people who buy 4GB bundles are going to use the console that much in the first place.

      Like

    • eAbyss

The 360 only supports FAT32 for external storage and FAT32 is limited to a max size of 32GB. They’d have to write in support for a more current file system such as NTFS or EX-FAT in order to raise the limit.

Call of Duty has consistently been on the top of sales charts since Modern Warfare. Microsoft is simply leveraging it’s popularity.

Yup, Just like at about every game convention they take part in, COD is always their main focus and gets the most air time. I’d rather them focus more on their own IP’s like Halo and Forza instead of a 3rd party title that’s on nearly every platform.

Going off topic: also the money they use for the pointless(IMO) timed early exclusive DLC and time exclusive games, could be used much better(IMO) to start some new IP’s or revive some of the great Rare IP’s they have, I think it would make the X1 much more appealing.
