Has to be (in this case for this game) from the 16th through the 30th that you have to log that 10 hours of playing time. Also if you buy any DLC you get an additional 2000 reward points if you didn’t know. That’s getting 2 bucks back on the DLC and 1 buck for playing it 10 hours.

Yes, I got mine for Monaco for the beginning of this month. Here is what it says on the reward FAQ’s.

Beginning September 4, 2014, Xbox Live Rewards Gold members can complete the following actions to earn Rewards Credits.

Download and play a featured Games with Gold title for 10 hours or more to receive 1,000 Rewards Credits.
Purchase an eligible game add-on for a participating Games with Gold title to receive 2,000 Rewards Credits.
Note: Not all Games with Gold titles will feature an add-on.

Download, gameplay, and purchase must be made within 14 days of the game’s announcement as a Games with Gold title on Xbox One or Xbox 360 and after enrollment into Xbox Live Rewards.

Oh and BTW they have a new “Star” (VIP Rank) rating and if you are gold you earn twice as much back on your purchases and can earn up to 10% back. I went from 3% last month to 6% this month just because they double the rewards for gold members and I’m at 3 stars. and 98% towards 4 stars which will move me up to 8% as a gold member. I done all the research I could to see what determines your star rating and can’t find much info on it accept it’s a time thing (how long you been a member of the rewards AND on Xbox Live AND have a gold subscription) as well as a purchases made (money spent).

I’m not sure how I like that they changed the rebate value from being dependant on your Gamerscore to being dependant on how much money you spend.

At least it isn’t like some reward programs where you have to spend so much every so often (every one seems to have different amounts and different time tables) and it just grows the more you spend but does include gamerscore and length of commitment to Gold and the Program.

Take the good with the bad I guess. Like here’s a free game now if you play that game for 10 hours in the 14 days here’s a buck as well. That’s 2 bucks a month for doing what I would do anyways. Plus considering the price I actually pay for gold it’s like they are paying me to play games. Can’t beat that.

Oh and if I had the One also it would be 4 bucks a month.

I’m guessing it’s another attempt to get people ‘going digital’, whereas the previous incentive was to get people completing games 100% – thereby buying less. Not a brilliant retail strategy😀.

        Quick interjection here –

On the Rewards site under the “Earn your Stars” section, it says “Every dollar you spend counts toward earning VIP Stars and a higher level of payback”.

In their Terms & Conditions, it states:

MyVIP Offer: During the Offer Period, Xbox Live Rewards members will be rewarded for reaching certain spend thresholds (spending is calculated pre-tax). Each time a spend threshold is met, the Xbox Live Rewards member will receive Rewards Credits equal to a percentage of their purchase, as outlined in the chart below. Eligible purchases will be calculated one (1) time per month. Rewards members can only qualify for one (1) VIP Tier. If the Xbox Live Rewards member is a Gold Member for the entire month, he/she will receive twice as many Rewards Credits (number of Reward Credits subject to change at Sponsor’s discretion). For every $10.60 Xbox Live Rewards members spend during the Offer Period, they will receive a rebate based on the VIP Tier they are in (see chart below). Existing funds over $10.60 will be rolled over in the subsequent month through December 2014. Funds will be reset January 2015. VIP rankings will change each year per Sponsor’s discretion. Members will stay in their tier until he/she reaches the next spending threshold. It may take three (3) to five (5) business days to reflect changes to your MyVIP rank. MyVIP Rewards Credits will be calculated at the end of each month and are awarded to members the following month. Limit: Total MyVIP rebate amount cannot exceed the Program Limit of 375,000 Rewards Credits per Program Period.

There is also a chart showing the amount you need to spend to be a 5 star ($1,100 pre-tax!). And it sounds like it resets each year – so anything you earn up to Dec 31 will reset on Jan 1st.

        Thanks for your interjection.

I’ve been a rewards member since 4-12-2011 and this new ranking system began earlier this month. I’ve seen this change so many times over the 3+ years I’ve been a member and it’s so hard to keep up with exactly what you get accept for the special promotions. Like the play 10 hours for 1000 points and the punchcards etc. etc.

The ranking used to be based on your gamerscore and they still show your gamerscore and rank but now it looks like that doesn’t mean squadush. It’s kinda confusing and I’d be surprised if it started over this year being that they just started it but who knows. It does have 2 sentences right in a row that contradict each other. “VIP rankings will change each year per Sponsors discretion” and “Members will stay in their tier until he/she reaches the next spending threshold” but then it does say “Funds will be reset………” All very confusing if you ask me.

Thanks for directing me to TOU.

Yeah VIP Ranking puzzled me too. My only guess is that they are referring to the thresholds for each tier themselves. So in 2014 the threshold is £150 net spend between each rank once you reach £90 (tier 1). However, they might review that and decide that it’s a bit too beneficial so they’ll change it to £200 net spend to go up a tier, and start tier 1 at £150.
Thereby your ranking would change, but you can still progress up a tier whenever you hit it. Gives them an out to change the goal posts basically.

By funds I think they mean the amount that goes towards your next rebate, so if you had received your latest rebate on 1st December. Then you spent $10.50 during December (not enough to hit the $10.60 limit) then that would be reset to $0 at the end of the year.

I believe it’s for every £150 (check T&Cs for dollars) spent in the xbox store you go up a star. But I don’t know what their start point is.
From the T&Cs: “Members will stay in their tier until he/she reaches the next spending threshold” from the graph in T&Cs “Tier Minimum Spend Threshold (pre-tax spending):
        One star £90
        Two stars £240
        Three stars £390
        Four stars £540
        Five stars £720”
If you go through your Microsoft commerce account and work out how much you’ve spent on xbox store purchases it should logically, come out at around £390.
I’m gonna go see if mine matches up. I made a purchase earlier this month that I’m waiting for rewards to reflect, when that gets made I’ll have a better idea of if I’ve read the T&Cs right:)

        One Star $150
        Two Stars $400
        Three Stars $650
        Four Stars $900
        Five Stars $1200

And when I add up my purchases minus tax I’ve spent well over the 4 star amount but yet I’m 3 stars and 98% of the way to 4 stars. So it don’t match up for me

Quirky, my rewards top up just came through, and the percentage amount increased exactly as I would expect based on my two recent purchases. So for me my spending on xbox store since 1st Jan 2014 equates 100% to £90, £150, 86% of £150 and hence my 86% of the way to three stars.

Odd that is didn’t tie up for you, not surprisng with the rewards site, but still odd.

OK I found the statement exactly has it is in the TOU. So sorry because if you downloaded the game before the promotion it doesn’t look like you will qualify either. Now if you played a disc copy I think you will still qualify. Here is exactly what it says.

Games with Gold Rewards Offer: Only Xbox Live Rewards Gold Members are eligible for this Offer. To participate, visit the MyMissions or Gold Exclusives page. Then, follow the links and instructions to download a Game with Gold title and play it for at least ten (10) hours within fourteen (14) days of its announcement as a Game with Gold featured title. You will receiveone thousand (1,000) Rewards Credits for download and gameplay. You will receive an additional two thousand (2,000) Rewards Credits for each eligible Game add-on purchase made within fourteen (14) days of its announcement as a Games with Gold featured title. Not all Games with Gold titles will feature an eligible add-on. Download, gameplay or purchase prior to being a Xbox Live Rewards Gold member will not qualify.

Oh wow….this was “waiting for approval” and got approved. I shortened the name of the games to get it to post. FYI pretty crazy and thought some of your regs would be interested to know. That’s why I left it and added this comment.

Is there a difference between the xbox one and the xbox 360 version of Valiant Hearts? If not I’ll just take the cheapest.

I just saw the MGS V TGS trailer and all i keep seeing people writing about how is juvenile japanese developers are creating female character as well as other misguided missapropriated pseudo-feminist rant.

I say missappropriated because I trust that Kojima’s reasons for the character Quiet to be in a Bikini is written in to make the character 3 dimensional like most of his supporting characters with shocking backstories. perhaps its something like she needs to wear as little as possible to stay in complete camoflauge and not disrupt the
light refraction process hence, naked but not full naked. eat a d!@k 343 industries!

I just watched the TGS trailer, and I’ve got to say that Quiet is beautiful. Reminded me of the way Lara Croft looks in the latest Tomb Raider.

Surrounded by enemies and nobody shoots her! Why? Boobs. Forcing Quiet to use stealth camoflauge at any time is just… no. You’re gonna want to see her.
