Has anyone found way to verify that each episode is $15, or if it is all the episodes for $15? None of the pricing on this title seems to be very clear. The game page on the Xbox site and on the Xbox One don’t even mention it as an episodic release.

agreed seems a tad unclear. Heard it was a prologue and 2 parts. Are all 3 parts included in the 15 price. what exactly is the deal with this

      Like

      • Burnt Offering

I went ahead and purchased the game. The splash screen lists it as “Season 1” so it looks like it may be all of the episodes. I’ll update as soon as it finishes downloading.

yeah grabbing it right now. Its like 8 gigs i imagine its all at once. Weird since i thought this was going to be episodic? or did they lock parts artificially for later? still unclear how this whole game will play out episodes seasons? what exactly do we get it all now?

        Like

      • Burnt Offering

It appears to be all three episodes. In the “Replay Episode” section it lists the Prologue and Episode One and Two.

        Like

      • Peter

so maybe its 15 bucks for this 3 episode set now with more seasons planned for later

        Like

      • Burnt Offering

I believe that is exactly the plan. In the Xbox Wire interview Swery mentions that the episodic nature lets him do more if the fans respond (paraphrased). So far it is very strange, but interesting enough to pull me away from Destiny this evening.

It’s three episodes only. I guess, others will be somewhat like 4.99 USD separately

  • Peter

bought it, looks like its not on the digital marketplace but a search shows it for purchase

looks like 15 bucks for it, s1? is that short for season 1?

well its 8 gigs pretty sizeable for a live release at 15 i imagine this is all the game or is it all the parts?

    Like

  • Peter

Not seeing d4 in the digital marketplace but via search it does. Probably show up fully tomorrow. Anyways see flockers a lemmings copy in the store.

ehhh…pass on that one like worms. Looks like nothing special. Maybe later if its on sale

Not to judge or anything but did anyone else think ugly xbox 360 indie title when they saw the cover artwork above? it so looks like the atrocious hacked together artwork you’d see on some of the shovelware from the indie section of the 360 marketplace

not to say the game itself looks ugly or cheap.Still waiting for the game to come down, wasn’t expecting it to be 8 gigs or so.

    • Burnt Offering

Now that you mention it, I see where you are coming from. The cover art certainly doesn’t represent the art style of the game, which is a shame because I honestly believe the visual uniqueness is a strong asset to this title. However, I can see this cover art gathering the attention of a broader audience.

      Like

      • Peter

yeah i know its not indicative of the games actual artwork just the design above looks ugly and cheap. Kinda like when you see the awful roughly designed artwork on pinball fx’s original tables and associated promo art. The licensed ones they actually use good design on.

According to the destructoid review Its a prologue (which takes 30 minutes if you rush through it) and 2 episodes (which are about an hour a piece without exploring). I’m thinking of getting it. Fiancee loves the kinect and she told me about this game so I read the review and it seems pretty cool.

haven’t gotten home to try it yet but so far the online reviews haven’t been that kind ie: kotaku’s review. Says the kinect controls are a mess, etc etc

    Like

    • Michael Burden

When has Kotaku said ANYTHING positive about anything Kinect related? I take any criticism they or Polygon say about Kinect with a grain of salt as both sites seem to have a premeditated bias against all things Kinect related and waste no time before bashing it or declaring it dead.

      Like

      • Peter

whoa calm down there. When i get home i’ll see if its really the case. Was just curious for those that have tried it so far. Did you even try it yet? sound pretty adamant have you tried the game yet?

The reviewer speaks with a fondness for swerys work and aesthetic. It didn’t read like one long bashing article. The reviewer even seems to regret not having it be better being a fan

did you even read the review? or did you just have a knee-jerk rage reaction without even reading it? Sounds like it

the review wasn’t one long bashing of the kinect it also goes into other flaws of said game. Even the regular controls were poor it states.

I am not up in arms about anything, I just do not trust any Kinect coverage from those sources as my experience has been greatly different than what they paint many times (i.e. Steel Battalion). And no I have not tried the game yet nor was I making any statements about it, I was commenting on the apparent bias I’ve noticed those sites have against Kinect and to inform you to not base your decision solely based on their opinion. I’m not saying they are wrong in this case either, just I wouldn’t trust them as a sole source of information on Kinect related reviews.

I saw Destructiod gave it a good review (9/10) but they really made no mention about how well the Kinect controls work as it seems the reviewer focused on playing the game with a controller.

        Like

Yep same boat here. I am very skeptical of any major gaming journalism outlet’s review of a Kinect game. I have to be honest and say the Kinect controls are good but not great though in this game.

Still they’re far from bad and it is the way the game is supposed to be played.

I am unable to play with the controller! I don’t have a kinect and the regular controls are totally broken! I can’t even get past the first 5 minutes because the RB/LB do not work! Has anyone else had this problem??

    Like

    • Areen Khachadouri

when the game first start ups its gives you and option to put your and up to use kinect, or to press start for controller. even during gameplay you can switch controls. put you hand up for a few seconds for kinect and and hold A for a few seconds for remote.

      Like

      • WhyleKat

        I don’t have a Kinect!

        Like

      • Alex

You can switch between controllers. Try holding A button for 5 seconds.

        Like

      • WhyleKat

Tried that, didn’t work. I tried holding the buttons, mashing the buttons, tried 4 different controllers, tried those 4 controllers again after updating them all. Quit the game and restarted multiple times. Even deleted the game entirely and redownloaded twice! The RB/LB bumper buttons do not work!! I assume it only works properly if you have a Kinect plugged in, then you can choose which control scheme you want.

Without a Kinect the game is pretty much worthless. I called Microsoft and they gave me a full refund stating that yes you do indeed need Kinect to play and it should say that specifically in the details of the game on the Xbox store but doesn’t.
