Had no idea this was happening. Too expensive though. If these Indie games keeping releasing at half the price of a triple-A title, then it’s going to be a long generation of waiting for sales and GWG.

Why do these games cost more when they seem to be no greater than the 360 arcade games? And there are hardly any demos. I’ll be waiting for a huge discount or games with gold. Way to lose out on my money…

Ouch, $25 is just a bit steep there MS. I like this game, but not THAT much. You guys seem to be going through an overpricing phase of life and need to get back to reality. I’ll wait for a “sale” so it’s the correct price, thank you.

Its the indie devs getting too cocky and thinking they can start to compete with higher priced games. Good luck with that.

Agreed they need to step back and stop being greedy. Its not the early days of next gen where there wasn’t much to chose from. Now theres alot of titles to grab our attention as well as wallets.

They price it high then they complain there wasn’t much demand or interest for the title.

Fact: Its an old tower defense game from last gen with high probability they probably added very little except a few new missions slight graphical tweaks etc. Still not compelling enough to make us jump even more so at 25.

These companies need to take a lesson from minecraft and give people incentive to upgrade to the new version by offering upgrade pricing to entice previous owners

Most of them are like uhhh no i’ll justy package the previous dlc with it add minimal almost nonexistent tweaks and package it at 20 bucks or more!

mojang was smart to offer that option and literally everyone upgraded to the new version. Better to earn a few bucks from every user than nothing

Microsoft dont set the price however could do something about it. It needs to be a joint effort from Ms and Sony to talk to publishers and have them explain why they are charging more for digital and to put rules in place such as you cannot have a game on the store over £46 they would have to comply as they make most of their money off consoles.

This isn’t Microsoft’s pricing, it is Hidden Path’s and 505 Games’. Proof is that it carries the exact same price on the PS4 as well as Steam. So how is Micorsoft making the competition look better by selling the same game at the same price as the competition is? SMH!

I’m not disagreeing with you as I too believe this game is WAY overpriced, but you in no way can lay that at Microsoft’s doorstep in this case. Blame the developer for overvaluing their product on all platforms.

I see what you’re saying. I just wish MS would smack some sense into them and say “Umm, no… sell it for 15$ and you’ll make a killing”. But oh well, I’ll just wait for a sale or a Gold giveaway.

Really £20 price points again? Why indie devs and publishers think they can charge such high prices for their games is ludicrous. The same can also be said for aaa digital games. Microsoft should step in and do something about these prices talk to publishers. The only digital game at a fair price point has been forza horizon 2.

As commented way overpriced set this at 15 or so. Suggest anyone interested wait for the inevitable sale. This game will sell poorly at that price

    • beardyman3218

It should be no more than £8 if metro can be priced at 15.99 then there is no way a tower defence game is worth the same. They need a reality check with there pricing.

Most indie developers think they need to charge high on next gen now. Most of them have common sense and charge in the 10-20 range. A few charge below 10 ie: nutjitsu, fibbage, etc. And then you have these guys who charge above 20 and even go as high as 30-35.

Did no one tell them that they are overpricing and losing profits? or do they not care and wanna wait it out for the sale hoping to catch some (idiot) early adopters? Must be the only logical explanation. They can’t be that removed from reality that they seriously believe anyone wants to pay that much?

I’d like to see the sales figures for these overpriced indie games that seems to be the trend just lately, I bet they’re fairly low compared to last gen. They’ll realise soon it doesn’t pay to overcharge

I wouldn’t buy this game with your last $5, but if everyone would quit buying this garbage maybe prices would be a lot lower. At least wait for a sale if you think that you’ll need this game day one.

I’m seriously suspecting this is a calculated ploy pricing it too high on release to increase demand artificially when it goes on sale for what was the normal intended price.

You know those businesses that have signs going out of business and those signs have been up for like forever to sucker in idiots? Customers love a deal even a perceived deal. At a normal price of 15 demand might be average but if they price is higher to begin with they can cut it to 15 and peoples minds would be wow its 15 now i better grab this up while i still can!

I am so starting to get that impression that this is being done on purpose knowing well in advance that they will have to lower it hence making people eager to grab it when it gets on sale whereas they might have passed on it.

25 dollars would be acceptable if it was a universal game. You should be able to buy it once and run it anywhere. If the dev develops a WP version, then you should be able to get it there too. I have about 150 Steam Games, but if a Universal license option was offered, I’d consider buying it and other games from the Microsoft Store. I suspect there would be others who would follow suit.

Agree with you. I have same feelings about it. They know that people will buy these games for $9, like they always did previous years. So let’s try to make some of them pay up to $25 now. And all others who are interested about that game will waiting eagerly until they drop price. And because of new price $25, they will now pay $15 (previously they paid only $9), because if you have chance to buy it with $15 or $25, you will grab for that chance.

I have to agree the developers priced this game WAY too high. $15 I might have considered it as I enjoyed the first one when they gave it away with GwG, but no way for $25 – regardless of the improvements and additions. Worms I could sort of see as it is a long established franchise, but not his game/franchise. Same goes for Flockers – priced way too high and that game doesn’t even have MP/Coop.

No way. Big difference here. Worms sucks, and DG is worth it.

I’d say flockers, defense grid and worms are all overpriced. Everyone has a version of worms and selling it at 25 is obscene, try more like 15 if your desperate for a worms fix. All of those games should have been 15 a pop 20 max. But 15 is more sensible for all of them.

      • Michael Burden

I would have to disagree with your opinion on the Worms’ pricing. For starters, if you are trying to compare the recent release to prices of what was made available on the 360, that is not fair as ALL of those were re-releases of games launched on previous platforms (Xbox, Dreamcast, etc). Also when those games were launched on their original platforms, they garnered a $50 price tag when released. Would I liked to have seen it cheaper? Sure, but I and my friends all thought the $25 was a fair price point for the game and we play it weekly. I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth for that game.

Michael Burden wrote, “Also when those games were launched on their original platforms, they garnered a $50 price tag when released.”

I noticed that You made there one typo. Did you accidentaly just hit 0 button? Or did you want write $5.00 ? Because $5 is correct, not $50. These arcade indie games was always around around $1.99 up to $9.99. Check these old gaming sites like BigFishGames and others. $50 was AAA games price tag!

$25/€25 is not a fair price. AAA games should use that price tag. <– And you will immediately find lots of new customers. All these mobile gamers will join with Xbox One immediately if they see AAA games price drop to $25 and indie games price drop to $2-$5. Sell your games cheaper and you will find more customers. Rise the price, and you will even lose these last ones who previously bought your games! Simple truth! Ask from any market analyst!

No, there was no typo and I am completely correct – the information is on the web which proves my statement. Those games (Worms, Worms Armageddon, etc.) which were originally released on the Dreamcast/PS2/PC at $50 a piece as was the later Worms 3D on the original Xbox. The $5 price point you are undoubtably thinking of was on the 360 for the re-release/port of those old games on Live Arcade and that made sense – they were ports of games several years old with no new content other than Live compatibility.

I would bet you were not even old enough to remember these when they first came out, or at least not old enough to buy them with your own money. At that time ALL games were pretty much $50 when released, regardless of what type of game it was. You never saw $40 or cheaper launch prices until very late in the console’s lifespan.

Worms was never considered an “indie” title until this one which they self published – all previous games had a publisher (Hasbro, etc). Even now many do not consider Team17 (Worms’ developer) to be a true “indie” due to the length of time they have been in the industry, having an established franchise with many sequels/spin-offs, and worked with publishers in the past.

Finally, if you lower the price too much you cheapen the brand and people will constantly expect that lower price point. That is why Nintendo has avoided the mobile market like the plague – they don’t want to devalue their cherished franchises. And in this case, Team17 isn’t raising the price (as this isn’t a port of a previous title many years old, it is a new game) – they are lowering it from what they previously were able to charge.

This will so not sell at that price. They will discount this shortly thereafter people would be more like yes time to buy.

Hidden Path will laugh manically thinking what idiots and saps we originally wanted it at the sale price but wanted to make sure you guys get suckered in to buy it thinking you got a deal! Customers always wanna feel like they got the upper hand in a transaction. Inflate release price +lower price later on sale = Suckered Fools

Well played minds of Hidden Path well played
