Everyone should, if for no other reason to keep Microsoft and the Xbox brand honest. Without Sony or any other competition, specs would be lower and prices would be higher. If everyone ignores other brands, then we are effectively giving Microsoft a partial monopoly.

I could care less that the graphics are often marginally better on the PS4. However, if it becomes normal for games to be $5 more, that will really tick me off. I’ve been very loyal since the second year of XBL, but constantly getting worse deals would tick me off enough to consider leaving.

All of that being said, this is just one game and not a trend. We got Guacamelee for free when it first came out, which was a great deal. If we have a constant battle with each side getting their share of better deals, then I’ll give two thumbs up for the great competition.

Why does there always have to be someone who has to turn it into a fanboy sony vs. microsoft type argument? I only mentioned the difference to make a point on pricing between both day 1 releases on similiar consoles. Not like i was comparing this to a pc steam release.

Its not like i was comparing a xbox 360 to xbox 1 where the game might cost more usually. I was comparing prices on two similiar next gen consoles releasing the game within a day of each other.

Is it possible to mention a compeitior here without it turning into a petty console battle thing?

The whole thing about calling someone else a name or a fanboy is little more than a tactic of the simple-minded, so just ignore it (which ironically makes them look oblivious to the industry as a whole).

But he did ask if someone praising Sony was “great competition” for MS. I would say the PS4 has MS’ hands full and that “Yes, a customer who completely satisfied with their purchase and is very open about it does make for great competition.”

MS and Sony are competing for a place in our homes. And when a consumer is very open about why they feel one product is better than another then a company loses a foothold in more of those homes (word of mouth is the best advertisement). That one vocal individual may be lost to MS’ competition, but what about the people who have not decided yet that look at those comments and consider them when they go to make their purchase? The way any company responds to it if they want the majority of the marketshare is to take that criticism and make their product better. And if possible, to lure that vocal customer to their product.

You don’t have to go much further than MS themselves when it comes to understanding the power of the vocal consumers. Look at how differently MS markets the Xbox One (games, games, games instead of One Guide, entertainment apps and Kinect) and how different the actual system is now as to what it was when they announced it. So yeah, I would say those “Sony Ponies” are doing far more for the Xbox brand than the people who will praise MS for anything they do.

You are correct. The competition drives the industry to be better for it’s consumers. With an entertainment market, if the technology, quality, quantity, and price are not consistently challenged by it’s competition and it’s customers in some way it will almost always over-value itself into it’s own demise. As a matter of fact the video game industry has already done just that once before.

It would be silly to think that MS would have things like weekly sales, the GwG program, LIVE sharing on the Xbox One or entertainment apps being taken from behind a paywall if it were not for Sony willing to lose a little to gain a lot of marketshare. And likewise you can be sure that Sony wouldn’t have some of it’s features if MS didn’t have it’s hand in the video game cookie jar too.

The Walking Dead alot of people bought on 360 expecting it to carry over per zens allowing importing of last gen tables. Ironically enough it doesn’t even though it was released after they supposedly got the system sorted out. Claimed they were working on it for importing for free. It’s been what over two weeks and they are still selling it not warning users on the marketplace that its not a part of the deal. I’m pretty sure alot of people got deceived into believing they could import it for free and they still have no disclaimer on the marketplace warning of this. But wait on their forum or website dug deep in a thread or post you can find it mentioned

So yeah i do suspect zen does drag their feet when it comes to fixing pricing. Only time they rushed was when there was that huge outcry over not importing to next gen and they realized they had no choice. I honestly don’t buy their blame ms we are the indie sympathy ploy

isn’t the price 10 bucks last i checked since yesterday. Yeah not grabbing it personally regardless got the ps3 complete version for 5 on sale. Enough for me. Didn’t get sucked in and was so-so game.

Still curious why the ps4 is 5 bucks less though

People are complaining on Twitter and various forums its listed at $24.99 on the ps4. It should be $9.99/€9,99/£7.99 on both the XBO and PS4.
