Microsoft Stores’ Sunset Overdrive Launch Events & Pre-order Deals

Microsoft retail stores are celebrating the launch of Sunset Overdrive with a series of in-store events and giveaways. Every store will hold a raffle with great prizes on the line, such as controllers, Xbox Live Gold memberships, Xbox music passes, and the Xbox One consoles.

Additionally, six of the largest Microsoft stores locations will go full Sunset City; to match the WonderTown Land atmosphere in Sunset Overdrive, the Stores will have a Sunset City insipired carnival atmosphere with a photo opp, a DJ outfitted as the hero, as well as Surface demo tables and special raffle entries for giveaways and more. The following stores will have the full Sunset Overdrive experience: Bellevue Square (Bellevue, WA), The Streets at Southpoint (Durham, NC), Century City (Los Angeles, CA), Dadeland Mall (Miami, FL), Mall of America (Minneapolis, MN), and Metropolis at Metrotown (Vancouver, Canada)

All Sunset Overdrive launch events take will begin at 10 p.m. on this coming Monday, October 27th.

Microsoft retail stores also have the following exclusive pre-order offers for Sunset Overdrive:

  • If you pre-order Sunset Overdrive in store before Tuesday, Oct. 28, receive a $10 gift card for Microsoft Stores or $10 to spend in the Xbox Store if you order on MicrosoftStore.com. If you pre-order online and are an Xbox Live Rewards member, you get an additional $5, which is $15 or 15,000 points total, towards the Xbox Store..
  • With Sunset Overdrive pre-orders through Microsoft Store, users will get exclusive melee weapons Acordes de la Muerte and The Hangover as an added bonus to the Day One Edition. They’ll also receive an exclusive white controller holder with the pre-order of the Xbox One Special Edition Sunset Overdrive Bundle.
  • Everyone who pre-orders Sunset Overdrive bundle receives a special controller stand to match your new, white Xbox One system.

        Oh nice so did you keep your kinect ? Yeah one ps4 is more than enough for me lol I barely play it as it is. I have over 30 disc xbox one games atm lol.. just picked up shadow warrior on Tuesday I hope it’s good. Gonna start it once I finish sleeping dogs and evil within

        Yah I dropped like 150hrs or so into destiny on the ps4 since all of my buddies only play mp on that system. But I’m back and playing catch up. I have shadow of mordor to finish and I need to work on FH2. I pre ordered Halo MCC and plan on checking out Evil Within at some point.

        Looking forward to FC4 and AC:U. Also, my 2nd PS4 just sold on ebay, so I sold it just now :p

        Ahh yeah luckily my friends all play on xbox except one or two… I got pretty sick of that game though coming on the end lol. The grind is unbearable. Yeah I beat shadow of mordor really loved that game only need 2 achievements to complete it. Fh2 is amazing. I preordered sunset overdrive from the Microsoft Store and got a gift card which was nice but I’m just buying lords of the fallen in store. Next month I have like 7 games to pick up as well lol ugh so many! It’s awesome tho

        Yah, since I got the bundle I’ll have Sunset with that obviously. Lords of the Fallen looks good but I’m still not sure on it. If anything that will be a disc version so I can trade it in later.

        Yah Destiny is cool but I was expecting a lot more from it. I pretty much don’t even care for the expansion at this point as I doubt it will add a ton of new stuff to really keep me interested. We will see though.

        Yah most of my buddies were on xbox but the all switched over this gen for some reason. I can’t stand that controller for long lol, but it is now only for exclusives here on out for me.

        I’m not a 900p vs 1080p crybaby type (not saying you are) so could care less about all of that garbage. Nothing has impressed me on that system yet to be honest and I prefer the XBO controller hands down (plus I love the Ui and functionality better, they ps4 is still way behind until firmware 2.0 finally shows up).

I’d rather call myself a 1080p/900p crybaby, thank you very much!😀 I love the DS4 except that the grips on the thumbsticks wear down, unlike is even possible on X1 controller. On the other hand, I love the speaker, mood light, touchpad, and gyro sensor too much to ever willingly go back to the brutish, bulky, too strong rumbling X1 controller, despite its better triggers.

        It changes colors to match what’s happening in games, man! If you’re in stealth mode, it will darken and change color in most games. If you have a flashlight turned on it will go brighter. In Sparkle 2, it will match the color of the ball you currently have in play. In Peggle 2, it will blink with the right color depending on the peg you just hit. It’s freaking AWESOME! lol

        It’s also used for positioning purposes when matched with the camera. The camera that can also do head tracking, just like Kinect can, in Alien Isolation.

        lol at the mood light:). It’s so worthless since you can’t even see it unless you tip the controller up, which you wouldn’t do while actively playing something. I do like the speaker though, its a cool touch, though I can live without it.

        lol the only mood it makes is angry. people have been taping it as it wasn’t possible to turn it off earlier. I dont know if that’s still the case.

        Anyway snap is one of the best features of xboxone and having a 55″ TV means i dont lose much on the screen size.

        Yeah I love snap. I use it constantly. Also love all the new social features as well. Can’t wait to be able to use achievement art as backgrounds either. The achievement leader board is a really fun addition as well.

        Really because I hate snapping. I can’t imagine anyone in their right mind would enjoy having their game shrunk like that, even to help with achievements. In fact when I want to view my achievements now and it snaps it instead, it annoys the hell out of me. I find the OS cumbersome and unwieldly, but that’s just personal preference.

        Sounds to me like you need a bigger tv. Shrunk game ? Lol really it’s 3 quarters of the screen. And yeah it is personal preference but you’re obviously just complaining because you’re trying to justify ps4 being better… which it isn’t by a long long shot also you don’t have to look at achievements in snap mode.. just open the achievement app

        I can understand that. I almost switched myself this gen, just the xbox layout and the way they do software is something I love. They just keep pushing out awesome features every month. I just can’t wait until the ps4 really gets rolling with exclusives..because let’s be honest they haven’t had amazing exclusives thus far but we all know that’s going to change. Some of my favorite ever games are Playstation exclusives.

      Yeah, I don’t want a disc every again for any console. The lack of any sort of bonus or discount when I can order from the Microsoft Store and get $10 off almost every title is really disconcerting.

      This is just for their Microsoft Stores. It’s not about physical or digital, Microsoft always did launch events for new games and it helped them get sells for their store. They need to do this in order to get sales for their stores and expand across the country. Their are only like 60 MS stores I think, and in order to expand they need to get sells.

        Oh, i understand the reasoning. But there’s not much excitement or hype for digital purchases like there are at these events. I went to the Kinect launch with my wife and we both had a lot of fun even though it was an hour drive to the location and an hour back (at 2am).

        Maybe something like ‘Pre-order this game and be entered into a drawing for….’ tshirts? anything?

      Yeah, I got a black version of the controller stand (with “Xbox One” and the logo printed on it) on eBay. I guess they give them away at events or something. It is one of those things that I can’t believe I spent $20 on, but I love it–it just looks so slick! Now I’ll have to keep an eye out for auctions for these SSOD controller stands…nobody bid against me, deal? :-p

      I wish there was a sort of “Xbox Loyalty Store” where you could get cool semi-exclusive swag like this. Buy enough Xbox games and accessories and get a set of Fable pins, a Banjo plushie, a coffee cup shaped like Master Chief’s helmet or a Crackdown controller stand–you know the bare necessities. Plus, it would be one more thing to encourage people to buy new instead of used so publishers would love it.

    This game looks like fun. Just not so sure about it anymore just from the videos. Have to wait and see.

    On a side note: Major, I see that the Call of Duty AW Day Zero edition is not available for 360. I know I can purchase this from the PS3 store. Seems strange not to be able to on the 360. I want to get a copy of this and plan on playing it with my son. Would love to be able to pre-order. I know that the Day Zero is supposed to be available 24 hours early plus it has the pre-order bonuses. I was searching for information on the Call of Duty website and saw this in the forums:

    “activision told me that the release date for the digital game was up to Microsoft and to contact them about a relevate date and when I did that they said the game won’t be available to get digital until November 4th”
    I was wanting to have both the 360 and One version since my son still plays a lot with friends on the 360. And if possible I was going to try and dl the One version since there is the free upgrade and the Call of Duty site say that I would be able to use both.

      You cant always get the best of both worlds in a case like this. Most companies that sell retail and online always do “in store only”, or “online only” type deals as it helps get people to shop at both. They have to do that since we all know retail stores have been suffering for years.

    i really hope this game is as good as it is being represented to be. i have not been watching trailers for for a minute maybe or playthroughs. i don’t want any spoilers. i am going in blind. i usually rent but i pre-ordered this one. it is fun to gamble sometimes.

      Your choice is understandable.
      Of course, it is a personnal preference, but you do well to follow yours.
      How many movie trailers show the most remarquables and signifiant scenes of a story, letting us know all that we would have discovered in time while watching it ?
      Video games sometimes do the same relative mistake ; while having a preview of the quality is appealing, for some players it is like reading a book; the efforts we invest is also rewarded by the discovery.
      For others, their interest grows with their curiosity.
      Or, like “Sak Hus” said, may prefer to be sure to find a real interest in their new acquisition before to take the risk. Which is legitimate.
      But do not worry; the simple fact that you have chose to keep you the surprise will bring you the pleasure you wish to find when you will be playing it..
