I was wondering about that. When it was first on sale I would have sworn I saw it at a few cents over $8, but when I went ahead and bought it yesterday it was $6.25.

I’ve been sad that the 360’s season pass has never gone on sale, i haven’t touched the game in so long. Its ok though, they don’t give two craaps about the 360 players

Sweet week. Playing sunset and lords of the fallen now.. anyone else playing lords of the fallen find it EXTREMELY frustrating? I’ve never really gotten into the souls series so I’m not sure if this is normal. Don’t get me wrong, I’m getting through it but man oh man I’m dying and getting hit a lot. Pretty much the entire game revolves around you clicking on an enemy, walking around in a circle around them waiting for them to attack, rolling or blocking and then countering. I’m starting to get motion sickness from goi ng around in circles lol…

anyone have any tips or strategies for someone who’s never played this type of game before?

When I first played Dark Souls it was one of the most frustrating but satisfying game completions I have done in years. I gave up with the second as I couldn’t go through the frustration again. Only tip I have is stick at it and eventually you will get through it, that’s all I can offer. And master counter/parry if its in lotf.

Haha yeah:/ I never use the shield I’m thinking maybe I should start to learn a strategy with that. I usually just have the gauntlet in one hand and my staff in the other and just roll instead of block.

Rolling in DS is a weird system (not sure about lotf) you usually want to try rolling into the enemy, I usually keep a shield up for the harder to dodge attacks but I still prefer to role.

Dark Souls 2 was a good game. The original Dark Souls, however, is masterpiece.

I completely agree, it wasn’t the most difficult game ever like most people say but its a challenging, rewarding yet addictive experience.
I gave up on the Capra demon but a few years later I gave it another shot and it quickly became one of my favourites.

it is way more forgiving than souls but the fact that it is based around that type of game just makes it more difficult than your average game.

Lock on and block to stun the enemy then do a couple of hits and repeat. If it’s a big enemy that takes all your energy with a hit then just move out of the way and try backstab them. You don’t need to dodge roll as it’s slow and wastes energy.

My own strategy when I can’t get over something somewhat hard is to go play Bayonetta on non stop climax or ninja gaiden black/2.
Other games seems so easy after they stop being frustrating.

I just have to share this with everyone but i found a deal for titanfall for $20 brand new (never opened/sealed) and will be getting it tomorrow. Add the sale for the DLC this week and in total I’m only spending $26 for all of what titanfall has to offer.

This is what i’m trying to get across to people out there specifically gamers that unless you absolutely have to have the game on day one(which i admit i do for some games), you can save a whole lot of money as a gamer. So at the end of the day… not even a year after titanfalls launch and i get it for the same price as gamestop’s infamous bargain bin deals. Wow

With multiplayer games – and especially a brand new multiplayer-only game like Titanfall – it is very hard to gauge how long the community will stick around. I’m sure Titanfall still has a ton of players, but many have moved on to Destiny and plenty more will move on when COD/Halo:MCC release. Still, that’s a fantastic deal.

I’ve considered purchasing an XB1, given the recent price drop and the fact that I can get it for $250 plus tax, when trading in an old 360. However, I’m still mad about the DRM, and the fact that Maj Nelson supported the DRM, and it was anti-military “buy a 360 if you’re on a sub.” So I’m mad, and even though the leadership has changed, I’m still Never going to buy an XB1, and I’m kind of soured on MS in general. Maybe that’ll change one day, but for now, MS, #dealwithit

    • Burnt Offering

MS had a direction in which they wanted to take the future of their product, NONE of it was anti-military nor discriminatory. There were just some places the product would not work the way it was designed to. You wouldn’t say your cell phone company is “anti-military” because your phone doesn’t get reception in a sub or the middle of a desert would you? Besides, MS changed those policies before the launch. Holding on to that kind of irrational bitterness about a company’s product is not normal and should probably be addressed. #dealtwith

thanks for your replies, folks. very interesting stuff.

i suppose it’s more of a lack of trust, actually. i don’t trust the leadership to revert to their old policies, and I feel that their non-apology “some things were wrong” was entirely insufficient, in my opinion. thus my continued position on this matter – I simply don’t “forgive and forget” unless there is a formal apology or I am very clear history will not repeat itself.

      have a nice day.

      • Professor Oak

They old head of Xbox didn’t just leave, he was forced to resign his position, so MS definitely wasn’t happy with him. Phil Spencer is doing a great job reversing these policies, I doubt Phil Spencer will do anything like the past guy.

Another note, Sony really played MS like a dam fiddle. They had patented a device that would link a physical game to an account or console so even if you didn’t have the disk in, you could still play the game. The DRM policies were mostly to limit piracy and used games, the last head of Xbox was an. dumb 4$$ and didn’t exactly know what he was talking about.

        Like

      • smurf

Thank you for your insight (no sarcasm, I do appreciate the info about the patent). Also, with regard Phil reversing said policies, that is all well and good, and probably accounts for half of MS’s current sales. However, when you mention “I doubt Phil Spencer will do anything like the past guy”, that leads me to believe that it is possible that history will repeat itself. MS has not disclaimed that possibility, nor has MS apologized for their mistakes.

When Tylenol was found to have cyanide in it, Tylenol didn’t do a management shuffle and say “Some things were wrong.” Instead, Tylenol apologized, promised to do better, and offered a discount on Tylenol to get people to buy it again. Today, most people don’t know or remember that Tylenol once was tampered with and contained cyanide.

With MS’s continued non-apologies, they’ll never overcome their history in the public’s perception. Acknowledging failure and promising not to repeat it is the proper way forward.

It’s a sign of a larger problem within MS. After Win 8, people complained about the lack of a start menu. Solution? Add a start button, but not give it the functionality of a start menu. Still no apology, but people must update PC-compatible computers eventually, so MS will sell Win 10. However, no such equivalent monopoly exists within game consoles, so MS is selling approximately 1/3rd of the PS4’s sales, for XB1. That is unlikely to result in a recouping of the development costs before the next console generation appears, but that’s speculation on my part.

The above is JMHO. And to the fans of Xbox One who posted in this thread, please don’t take offense from my comments – they are not directed at you. I’m actually trying to wave a flag and say to MS – hey, I like your games, but I don’t trust you enough to avoid DRM again, so Maj Nelson – who reads some/all comments – and who talks to Phil – may decide one day to actually move forward from this debacle of a launch, given the high R&D development costs.

The biggest problem with windows 8 and 8.1 is the fact they were built based on touch screen compatibility, they didn’t mean for it to be bad, they wanted to push for something that hadn’t gained full support yet. You are right about them not issuing an apology about Don Mattrick (the previous head of Xbox). I thought they had released a statement about it, but I was wrong.

I see where you are coming from, why you mistrust them, and they should have put out a public apology, as the DRM was never meant to limit who can play the console, I also agree they went about it the wrong way. They lost a lot of support and Xbox cannot handle something like that again, so I seriously doubt they will try it again. Also, a Next gen console is many years down the line, probably won’t be another 5-10 years.

Also, I believe they stated that Windows 10 will be free to all Windows 8 and 8.1 users.

Prof, I think they were trying to out-apple Apple. But Ballmer wasn’t the visionary Jobs was, and it was a huge risk, so it flopped. (common knowledge for most analysts). Thank you for your acknowledgement about Phil – I watched, personally, his interviews where he disclaimed responsibility for the Xbox One’s failures (I wasn’t in charge of that, so I can’t say it was wrong, but I think that mistakes were made…essentially a non-apology). That’s why the public hasn’t forgiven him or MS.

RE the DRM, I understand why they want that. However, the costs to implement that would be untenable for someone like myself, who likes to buy games and then sell them when I’m done, sans the DLC. So that’s why they failed…they alienated the first-time buyers, and they’re suffering now. It was a short-term strategy, and failed.

You’re right, in that they’re unlikely to try this again. I’m almost 99% sure they’d never do this again, because they know they’d lose around 50% of their market share now, which is already 1/3rd less than what it should be. Yet, they haven’t really made that contrite statement. I can see it in Nelson’s and Phil’s body language…it’s as clear as day…they are very sorry for what happened and will never do it again! But I … personally … need to justify my expenditures, so I cannot justify such an expenditure if I can’t be sure if I can’t re-sell my purchased games after I finish those and the DLC. Others have other reasons. Yet this is why MS’s share is 1/3rds of PS4s. IMHO.

Now, my companion, I like you, but unfortunately, MS has not stated that Win 10 will be free, to anyone. As I mentioned, they have a monopoly on PC-compatible computers, so they can charge for Win 10, and my guess is, they probably will, even though Win 8 sucks, because simply they can, and thus make more money. However, if they wanted to improve their image, they wouldn’t. Yet they answer to shareholders, and the value of the image is worth less than another $1 in MS’s share value.

      • Professor Oak

Oh, Windows 10 itself may not be free, but you can help test it for free if you have 8 or above.

The thing with used games is they were trying to be Pro Developer and Publisher, while at the same time it is anti consumer. Keep in mind, they did say it would be up to the Devs and Pubs to allow, charge, or not allow for used games, this was just before they started turning everything around cause Sony announced they would allow you to sell and trade them no issues. Again, they were played like a fiddle.

I was excited for the Steam like systemsystem (with more features) they were implementing. Being able to share your game library with 10 people, being able to sell digital games, and being able to play your games on any console you log into (without the disk) seemed positive to me. I also come from a large military family, and those features felt like something they could have taken advantage of, sharing game libraries with fellow soldiers deployed, accessing games from an Xbox on base without needing to lump discs around, etc. And digital had the potential to be cheaper like steam games.
I guess its just a matter of perspective.

There are many more issues about MS that made me not buy the console.

      Like

      • smurf

There are many issues, truth be told. 1) Honesty – will MS really tell us what will happen with the XB1? Maybe, maybe not ! The history tells us that MS has told us various positions. Their current position is probably true, but they’ve lost credibility, based on the chaos surrounding the XB1’s introduction … 2) Power – comparably, and in a minor, insignificant way, the PS4 is slightly more powerful, and I suppose that is a significant consideration for the “power gamer” – though I am not a power gamer that cares about the difference between 900p and 1080p … 3) Anger – I admit I hold anger, and my grudges last a long time, the other posters were right, I’m bitter – I want to “kill” the bad guy who wronged the princess, even at the end of the adventure – and maybe that is a failing of mine, but I acknowledge it as a part of who I am, and actually I’m proud of this quality – I’m happy I don’t “turn the other cheek” and be in a position where I could get slapped again! … 4) Kinect and price – MS reversed course on these issues, and I forgive them for this … 5) Attitude – Adam Orth said #dealwithit … and I’ve never forgiven MS for not apologizing for his hurtful tweet and hashtag. I will always hate MS unless they apologize for such a hateful thing to say, and such an anti-urban thing to say. He worked for them, and he was talking about their product, and they never apologized for the content of his tweet. “We would never talk to our valued customers that way” BAH…they should have given a REAL apology. They never did, so they (MS) own, forever unless apologized for, #dealwithit

That’s why I will never buy an XB1, and why I think I’m permanently soured on MS. It’s the attitude. But again, that’s JMHO.
