Microsoft Stores Celebrate the Launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection + Grand Opening Meetup in Syracuse, NY

Your Halo journey begins next week, and Microsoft stores are planning a celebration. Most of the nation’s 106 locations will begin Halo: The Master Chief Collection launch festivities on Monday, November 10  at 10 p.m. local time.

Attendees will be able try out the game with fellow Master Chief fans while they wait, and enjoy free food and prize raffles. Be one of the first 150 to pick up your copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection to score an exclusive Halo t-shirt and Microsoft canteen. You can also catch everything from the HaloFest Premiere Event, which will be streamed to your local Microsoft Store so you won’t miss the reveal of the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta or the debut of Halo: Nightfall.

What’s more, the Bellevue Square Mall Microsoft Store in Bellevue, WA, will host a special premiere event, which will have Master Chief available for photo opportunities. The Halo: The Master Chief Collection will come to life through a museum-like experience with Halo props from the archives and replica pieces on display throughout the store. There will be lots of great raffle prizes and giveaways too! We’re also hosting an event in the Austin Microsoft Store which will include special appearances from members of the 405th , in full Spartan Armor, 343 developers, and Halo level design master Max Hoberman.

Nine other Microsoft stores locations will also host Halo: The Master Chief Collection events featuring a Live DJ along with free and early game play, great prizes and much more! Bridgewater Commons (Bridgewater, NJ), Burlington Mall (Burlington, MA) Fashion Show (Las Vegas, NV), Oak Park Mall (Overland Park, KS), Pioneer Place (Portland, OR), Plaza Las Americas (San Juan, PR), Scottsdale Fashion Square (Scottsdale, AZ), University Village (Seattle, WA), and Westfield San Francisco Centre (San Francisco, CA).

Microsoft stores will keep the celebration going, all 106 Microsoft Stores will host daily Halo happy hours from 4-6 p.m. beginning Tuesday, November 11 through Friday, November 14 featuring free gameplay and swag giveaways.

Later in the week, I will personally be opening the Microsoft Store at Destiny USA in Syracuse, New York on Nov. 13 at 10:30 a.m. Then at 7pm that evening, I’ll be hosting a special fan meetup, where we’ll be raffling off a special Halo collectables package, as well as an Xbox One and other prizes.

This Facebook event page has all the details of the launch events, including exclusive grand opening day deals and giveaways.

If you pre-order Halo: The Master Chief Collection before Nov. 10, you will receive special offers including:

  • A $10 gift card for Microsoft Stores or $10 to spend in the Xbox Store if you order on MicrosoftStore.com.
  • Microsoft Exclusive Boom Skull that unlocks 2x Explosion physics
  • “My Other Car is a Warthog” throwback license plate frame
  • Master Chief window decal
  • If you are an Xbox Live Rewards member, you get an additional $5, which is $15 or 15,000 points total, toward the Xbox Store.
  • If you haven’t upgraded to an Xbox One console yet, there is also a limited-time promotion for $50 off any Xbox One. That is in addition to Microsoft Stores’ competitive trade-in offers of up to $100 toward an Xbox One.

As someone who is 100% digital this generation, I’m going to politely suggest that in the future you include preorder rewards for digital purchases as well. Other than that…

    Halo MCC FTW!

Recently started mixing it up as well. If it’s a game I will play, 100%, and likely not touch again, I’ll get physical so I can sell it when I’m done. Games like MCC are digital.

I have been pure digital on the PC for years.

However, the Xbox One just simply does not have the internal expandable storage space options that a PC has, so I’m going with Physical.
Plus with game sizes ballooning to 40-50Gb in size, my 15Mbps ADSL connection cries tears of blood.

Storage space, cost and download speed aren’t an issue for me. Having to wait nearly 48 hours to be able to play Advanced Warfare was what finally knocked my all digital dream on the head.

That really does not make a lot of sense. It does not matter if you go digital or physical, the game still has to install to the hard drive so what is the difference?

Plus you paid extra money to have a bigger drive in your p.c so $80 for a 2TB external usb 3.0 for the xbox one isn’t that big of a deal really.

I do *not* wish to have over 9,000 boxes connected to my Xbox One, complete with 9,001 cables, it’s ugly and defeats the purpose of just having “One Box”.
My PC’s drives are all internal for that very reason.

Sony took the right path and actually made their Hard Drive user replaceable, so it’s a piece of cake to drop in a 4TB Western Digital Black.

With Steam the content I download, does not affect my internet download cap, it’s data free, I will happily leave my PC on all night to download a game without having to worry that I will be reduced to dial-up rates the next day.

Conversely, it’s simply faster installing from disc than downloading and I’m not to worried about uninstalling a game to make space if I have the optical disc on hand.

Don’t over dramatize….it’d be one box, right? Or are you intending to get 1000s of 1GB external boxes!!!!?
Once your 4TB PS4 internal drive is maxed out what do you do? There’s only one drive bay right?
How exactly does Steam not impact your download cap but the X1 does?????
The only valid point you make is the final one – yes disc install will be faster.

What about me, i’m going 75% digital games and i have ONLY 4Mbps ADSL, and with the Xbox One’s poor handling of downloads and installs, it can easily take for me 24+Hour to download a 20GB game like Titanfall, just a tip: if you want to download something big like 40GB, just let your Xbox One on overnight, hope that helps, and another thing i’ve noticed, idk why but there’s no difference playing a multiplayer game with a download on or not, tried it with destiny etc. Believe me😛 So then if there’s a download going on the Xbox and you want to play an MP game, just go for it!

Especially since MS is the one who tried to promote a full digital future in gaming a year and a half ago, it just isn’t right we aren’t getting the same treatment as retail even though its still through MS.
Even if its something stupid like 2 day early access or some alt skins its still an incentive.

Anubis, read my reply to Nick above and you’ll understand what I mean by feeling ripped off. I could give a rat’s behind about the physical swag. It’s the digital bonuses we’re not getting that’s the rip off, because it’s totally within MS’s power and ability to give them to us.

Actually, you are a bit off. The original plan was to allow people to buy a game code in store that would be redeemed for a digital license. In other words, you would still get good pricing since retail stores would be competing with one another.

A decent solution would be to let stores sell the digital codes in addition to the physical copies. I don’t need to play these games at midnight, so I’d be fine getting release day shipping from Amazon for a card with a QR code on it. Retailers would compete, and we’d get digital copies. In fact, it would make manufacturing, shipping, and warehousing much cheaper. In my opinion, it is a win-win.

That’s a good solution. By digitally I meant that games could be bought retail on disc as a sort of quick install method but it links to the account. That’s the part about the X1 I liked.

      • Roujin

Yes, in total agreement with you, A.J. As I’ve said before, MS has the power to make this happen literally overnight. You can already walk into MS Stores and buy digital codes for games that have already been released, so why not allow us to pre-order a digital copy? Heck, if MS has to be stubborn and only offer the pre-order bonuses through the Microsoft Store (as a way of driving traffic in), so be it, but then at least give me the choice to pre-order a digital copy. I’ll still show up at the store physically on launch night or the day after and pick up the card along with the swag. If this had been a choice, I wouldn’t even be here complaining about it.

Why do people need incentives to buy a product these days?? I just don’t get you people. either you want said product or not, it’s no one else’s choice but yours to buy something. If you don’t like not getting swag then wait and go buy the physical copy!

I’m not sure how young or how smart you are, but ever since you could buy everything over the internet, retail stores have suffered big time. That is why you will see places offer online only or in store only deals / coupons a lot.

MS is popping up stores all over the place so they will try to entice you to roll into said store to spend some money. It’s simple how it works and EVERY store does it for obvious reasons. No one twisted your arm to buy digital, that was your choice so you will have to deal with it.

Common knowledge since over a decade ago, you buy digital, you get nothing else with it, period. Plus you are getting a few little dlc items for buying it digital anyways so I’m not sure why you said what you did about that.

I’m mixing in digital purchases with my retail purchases, I bought master chief digitally while I got evil within retail. I’m happy with my digital purchases because in the end I get to play my game.
A decade ago? Sorry but there’s been advancments in technology since then.
I am dealing with it and please don’t use that word “SWAG” every time I see or here it I feel like ripping someone’s insides out.

Nick, aren’t you being a bit ignorant? Over on PSN, several digital games have offered the same DIGITAL bonuses that physical pre-orders get. Case in point, GTA V on PS4 offers an additional $300,000 in GTA bucks in addition to the $1M all pre-orders get. Infamous: Second Son had the same digital pre-order bonuses. And while not as frequent, Sony occasionally offers PSN money back (usually $10-15) for a certain amount of money spent, as well as plenty of sales with great discounts (particularly for PS Plus members) that put the the weekly Deals with Gold to shame. I’m not asking that Microsoft do the impossible and mail out physical swag to every digital customer that couldn’t be bothered to come into their store, but digital customers deserve better treatment than this. Microsoft profits more off of them than they do retail customers, they don’t even have to ship the product to them or to stores, so why can’t they pass on some of the savings to those customers as well? Giving $25 in digital credit is not the same as the company giving out $25 actual dollars, gamers will spend that $25 in the Xbox Store and likely will spend even more, so it benefits Microsoft in the end. By not offering those bonuses to their digital customers, they are actually leaving money on the table, because those customers will be reluctant to pre-order or buy digital OR physical from them ever again, as I am now.

You can’t have the best of both worlds, make YOUR choice and pick one or the other:) It’s been pretty standard since digital downloads started (over a decade ago) that when you buy a game digitally, you don’t get anything physical with it… Just how it’s been and will continue to be.

No one is twisting your arm to buy one or the other as it’s 100% up to you to decide if you want the swag with the physical copy, or no sway with the digital one. I see what you are saying, but don’t get mad at anyone because you choose to go the other way😀

      Like

      • Roujin

Its understandable that by going digital you are not going to get the physical swag, but that’s no excuse for Microsoft not to reward digital pre-orders with the DIGITAL bonuses, namely the Xbox Rewards bonus ($15) and the $10 Xbox store bonus. Digital purchasers are among the most loyal customers at all as they are literally trusting MS with their money by buying an EULA with no physical product that they can resell. And it’s the SAME COMPANY. Microsoft could make this right RIGHT NOW by extending the digital bonuses to all people who have already pre-ordered the game as well as those who will pre-order before the deadline (at least for those in North America, where the Microsoft Store promo is limited to, I believe). What’s stopping them? Nothing. Yet they are still sticking it to us.

Just for the record, when I pre-ordered my digital copy of MC Collection the day it became available on the Xbox Store, I was under the impression that I would be getting the same digital bonuses as those who pre-ordered the physical copy from the MS Store. It was only days later when I was watching a Gametrailers podcast discussing the bonuses that I realized I was mistaken, and I went back and read the fine print and realized I’d been hosed. There are no refunds, and I want to stay digital, so I’ve had to swallow this bitter pill. This may be the last digital game I purchase on my Xbox One ever, if Microsoft doesn’t start treating its customers better.

        Like

      • Nick

Nick, while I appreciate your input, you are missing a major point. The fact is that this is Microsoft selling the product both physically and digitally. The same retailer. And they almost definitely take a higher margin on digital copies and don’t have to physically ship a disc out to me, so just by those merits they are getting a higher return for the same sale. And on top of all of this they still give out an extra $10 for pre ordering any game from the Microsoft Store. It’s just a shady business practice to offer all these incentives to buy the product physically when your company also makes the Xbox One and is pushing this new digital age.

The Don-Mattrick hate is still there, but it has finally been completely separated from Phil Spencer, Larry Hyrb and the rest of the Xbox team. They have proven to me they care about what the customer thinks and want to keep the gamer front and center. Still bring all the other features, but keep gaming front and center. It’s amazing at how blind and stupid people can really be. It’s sad actually, why not educate yourself a bit before commenting?

I’m not trying to fix anyone, but I like for people to try and at least see there’s more than one side to everything and to not just fly off the handle and cry and complain about EVERYTHING for a change.

Try not to have emotional reactions to what people are saying on the internet, it’s a juvenile activity. Also, I am leery of people who think that people are stupid and morons for having an opinion. You say you wish people would grow up, well news flash buddy, there are a multitude of ages that frequent this site and everybody is at different points in their development and understanding of the world. If I were you, I’d quit being so dismissive and critical of others views and start giving people a little more credit and respect.

I pre-ordered on the 10th and they didn’t display that it had to be BEFORE the 10th to get the goodies, what freaking jerks.
