Halo 5: Guardians – Pre-Order Details, Multiplayer Beta Starts Today

Halo 5: GuardiansHalo fans, today is the day many of you have been waiting for. Not only does the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta officially launch, details are emerging about the different pre-order editions you can choose from. Pre-order Halo 5: Guardians from the Microsoft Store

Fans who purchased Halo: The Master Chief Collection have access to the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta starting today through Jan. 18, 2015.

Launching in fall 2015 exclusively on Xbox One, Halo 5: Guardians continues the story of the Master Chief, and introduces a brand new central character to the Halo universe – Spartan Locke.  Peace is shattered when colony worlds are unexpectedly attacked.  And when humanity’s greatest hero goes missing, Spartan Locke is tasked with hunting the Master Chief and solving a mystery that threatens the entire galaxy.

      Exactly. I’m not willing to plunk $60 down, much less $250. If the online play is a bust like MCC, a $190 statue ain’t gonna be much consolation.

      So, I’m sure with the issues they had with MCC will not be duplicated by the end of next year (or whenever the game releases). I’m sure it will be a solid launch, they can’t afford to have it screw up. Plus, there is a TON of SP to play in MCC, plenty to keep people busy unless you are an MP only type.

        SP is having issues too. progress within each mission not being saved has happened to me multiple times and i’m not the only one.

        SP worked fine for me all the time only issue was the Mp and I’m not really play Halo for the MP thats just an Extra.

      They did a good job with Halo 4. Theres no good excuse for MCC I want a refund for my digital purchase. Halo 5 feels pretty good and works most of the time, it is a beta so that’s excusable for now.

    I don’t like that they added sprinting, a dash button, aim down sights, a very CoD like announcer and the like… they have ruined what made Halo 1, 2 and 3 great and I won’t be buying Halo 5 anywhere near full price.

        It was on sale during the PSN sale last week or two for half that. It is silly if they put it on sale for only 40% off when they’ve never had any less than a 50% sale since it’s been on XBLA.

        It probably also does a very good job of being a good representation of this years sale.

        So am I. No game has been available to digitally pre-order on Live unless it has gone gold. Also, if you are looking to get the statue, it’s physical pre-order only most likely.

    I’ve been playing Halo since 2001 and have read and experienced all the outside lore in the universe and this is without a doubt the best Halo has ever been. When I played the beta last weekend it was the best Halo had ever felt too. Just over two hours till I can play it again. Playing an amazing new Halo campaign for the first time ever this generation is going to be so good with how the gameplay is now and I love where the story is going of course.

    I have a feeling that maybe when playing as John it’ll still control like Halo 4, and then when you play as Spartan Locke you’ll have all the abilities as in the MP.

        On the contrary, I’ll be paying them hundreds of dollars next year between all the different kinds of Halo merchandise coming out.

        I can’t wait for Halo: Spartan Strike, the sequel to Spartan Assault, which should be out sometime next month most likely.

        Why is it when someone likes something and expresses that like of it that someone always think they are being payed but the people that make that thing.         I agree with you, but on the flip side I think so many people think “shill” when they see such a shining review is because there are so many companies that do just that. There is a lot of money to be made in “reputation protection” with writing empty reviews and sunny comments and this questionable practice seems to be popping up every place. But it is nice to see his excitement for this game and too share it.

    BTW, almost definitely getting that $250 version unless the statue design totally isn’t something I want to add to my Halo shrine. I have a feeling it will be though.

      I am assuming only MCC owners. I have MCC but one of my sons took it to the grandparents to play. Left it there and they are gone to other relatives until this next weekend. I did redeem all the things that came with the game but apparently you have to have the disc to install this version.

      Wish the game would have came with a code for the beta instead of requiring the disc. That way I would have been able to play it anyway. No big deal really. The MCC should have been great for me. I love the Halo universe. But I had some major problems with this when launched (including some weird campaign stuff that caused me to stop playing) and now this situation.

        I just signed in from the preview beta and it went to the message of the day and then into into matchmaking. It found a players but I didn’t start the match. Maybe I didn’t go far enough. That is cool though. It would be a slap in the face to their customers who bought the disk if they just have out the out the beta when they advertised it as a part of the disk.

    I am definitely NOT pre-ordering Halo 5 even if the beta is amazing after the debacle of a launch the Halo:MCC had. I am the biggest Halo fanboy there is but pre-ordering this game is stupid. Make sure it works before you just blindly hand over $60 to 343/Microsoft….

      I was really sure proposed that MS and 343 let the MCC out into the wild without a bit more testing than they did. To their credit the are trying to make it right with their customers though. That said, I am with you on waiting Halo 5 out to make sure it runs the way it should. I would hate to add H5 to the MCC/Unity list.

        To be honest, when Halo 2 released I didn’t know to many people that liked playing as the Arbiter right away. He was kind of an acquired taste for many. I am sure Locke will be the same for some.

    Having been in the prerelease test last week, I sure hope they fixed the matchmaking in it. If it’s still borked, I won’t be preordering at all and if it works well I will wait until I know exactly what every edition will have and it likely will only be the standard edition that I preorder.
    Last time Halo 4 screwed LE buyers over by just including a permutation of the very first armor set with very little, almost unnoticable, difference. No thanks if that’s the case this time again. An LE deserves much better stuff.

    Don’t get me wrong though, when the game connected, the gameplay was solid as a rock, but given the fact that MCC still has major flaws in both single and multiplayer two months after release, buyer beware!

      easily, the code for one small beta is probably much easier to perfect than an entire game. 4 entire games… not excusing mcc but it makes perfect sense that this would run so well

        ^This, I’m not excusing MCC either, but it’s very clear that those 4 games all have their own hacks to make them work the way they did and it’s proving a mammoth task to combine them into a functioning whole.
        That said, it’s still a miserable way to release a collection in such a state.
        The release now patch later attitude needs to go and that applies to everyone in the industry.

    I was told I could pre order Halo 5 so I just rushed over to Gamestop and pre-ordered. They asked which one and I said whichever costs the most money. LOL I know Halo has dwindled a bit and I know people like to claim to be “true fans” and say nothing 343 has done matters, but at the end of the day I love Halo it is my favorite game series and I know even if it is not good as the bungie versions I still think it is better than most other games out there
