There is a media app that allows you to stream content from a media pc. I know it’s not XBMC but it works for me as i have my library sorted out pretty well.

I keep hearing about kraveTV here in canada apparently it has Seinfeld, the sopranos and the wire on it and it’s like 4.99 a month.. I wonder if xbox is going to get an app for it I really wanna try it out.. I’ve wanted a streaming service that has Seinfeld for a long lol.. it’s my absolute favorite “when there’s nothing on” thing to watch.

The site for that service says it will be available soon on Xbox.

The unfortunate thing about that service is that it’s tied to having a cable/satellite subscription.

Yeah, the commercials made it look interesting, but when I looked into how to subscribe, it’s “call your TV provider”, and even if you want it, it’s only available to a few providers right now.

I guess that’s the advantage of not having a competing streaming television service. You can have the best of all worlds and just allow all of them on your platform. Will definitely be checking this out.

Compared to the amount paid for cable even in a package? Granted it doesn’t have all the channels, but for $20 and what it offers it definitely looks worth it. I for one am going to be happy to test it out for free next month and see if it’s worth it.

I was just typing something similar. I’m not sure he caught that it was free for one month. And just for ESPN (for someone like me) it’s worth is since that is the main reason I have cable.

How can you not see a $20 value here?

      • Burnt Offering

I really think this is a service whose value will greatly depend on a person’s satisfaction with their cable/satellite provider. If you watch select channels and/or do not have a service provider, this would be enticing. However, it is a bit expensive for what it offers if you were looking to supplement your services. And from what I have read there isn’t much more being offered than what is offered with many providers for free with their services.

      • bickle2

Because $6 of it is fir ESPN, when they could be including channels nit showing events with less variety than an episode of power rangers, paid for with hundreds of millions of your tax dollars to billionaires for money losing propositions (only Green Bay, who owns the team has ever profited from a stadium)

To put this in perspective, most popular cable channels carry a wholesale cost to the cable provider of five to fifteen cents per subscriber,

It’s time to make ESPN like HBO, forced seperate subscription. you should be able to swap it for one of these $5 addon packages

I’ll take the free trial, but there’s no way I’m subscribing unless I can get the major networks and some traditional cable channels. How about your bring the over the air adapter for Xbox One to the USA instead of pandering to cable and satellite conglomerates, hmm Microsoft?

Give us some true IPTV with a la carte ability to pick the channels I want. I guess this is a step in the right direction, but the channels included don’t interest me. Give me History channels and VH1 Classic and I’ll consider it.

In a perfect world the perfect service would be complete a la carte I agree. Would be nice to pick the channels I want and watch and only pay for them. Maybe we should start our own serv….. oh nvm it sounds way to complicated in my head….just someone offer it up please!!!

    • bickle2

A la carte is actually a bad thing. Many channels grow slowly, and only get picked up when there’s a hit. If you depend on direct subscription only, they die on the vine. I missed out on MST3K because it took South Park to get Conedy Central added to our local company. The channel used to be the butt of jokes, but if South Oark hadn’t propagated the channel, would we have daily show?

Plus the networks will never allow it, and without extensive regulation and control that we need, but under the current system of lobbying will never get. At this point, breaking up Comcast, and capping the ability of any one company to control more than a few percent of total customers should be the goal. Comcast used to be one of at least three cable providers in the philly metro area (Suburban and Adelphia). Now they control about half in the US, and are trying for a lot more

It’s good that something like this is happening, but it is a complete pass for me. The only channels I might possibly not mind having are TNT and TBS. And this is the base package, so if you want to add other packages, you first have to pay for this $20 package that I don’t want.
I am currently a Dish subscriber, but when I move next month, I didn’t plan on keeping my service. I will stick with Netflix, and though I am not fond of how Hulu handles commercials for paying subscribers or how they organize their library, I might give that another shot to replace cable/satellite altogether.
As much as I loathe Comcast, they recently sent me an offer for an internet based tv service, but I don’t know much about it yet.
