Xbox 360 Preview Program

Starting in early March select invitees will be able to join the Xbox 360 Preview program. This will work much like the Xbox One preview – and selected customers will be able to sign-up directly from their Xbox 360. Look for a special Xbox Live message then head to Settings, then account then under account management if you’ve been selected, you’ll see Xbox 360 Preview Registration. Sign up there and enroll your console. Nothing will happen yet, but we’ll let you know when the Preview is ready to begin through a Xbox Live message.

In our upcoming release will be addressing common customer issues including improving the ability to troubleshoot common network issues from the 360 and adding a Network Connectivity test including Download and Upload speed tests.

There will be even more changes coming later this year – so sign up to be a part of the Xbox 360 Preview Program.

Look for the message

Hey Microsoft, make sure to let Xbox 360s run a least 2TB USB 2.0 HDDs as an upcoming feature in this program!

why not just make all the xbox 360 games playable on the new xbox one and done that thing has a gig port the 360 isn’t even compatible with my 100 download connecton cuz all the ports have to be gig ports

Excellent, got my invitation, to go along with my Xbox One preview programme and Win10 Insider Technical Preview too.

Ooh… stream your Xbox One games to your 360 (a la plans for Windows 10). That’d be nice… I’d give that a good test! 😉

Oh well I’m guess I’m not going to be part of this preview program even though I was part of the last few on the 360.

I hope the changes coming will be grand. I’m thinking that maybe windows 10 will be coming to the 360.

major nelson the problem is the 10/100 port on the xbox 360 its outdated and useless its not compatible with my connection anymore I had to upgrade everything when I got the faster speeds to get the faster speeds I had to put a gig nic in my pc so it be compatible with my router it had all gig ports and the modem has gig port if it did not then I couldn’t get the speeds I am payin for so ya the answer is put a gig port in the xbox 360 and that’s the solution to this I solved it major nelson now gimmy a prize a free xbox one

You are either confused or have a Mickey Mouse router as there is absolutely no reason why a 10/100 port would not work with a Gigabit port on a router/modem as it is backwards compatible with slower speed ports. That port would be limited to the 100mbps but would still work fine. What you are asking for is yet another 360 iteration/redesign and I don’t think that is economically feasible for the console at this late stage of its life cycle. A gig port is in no way needed on the 360, and the only further upgrades you will see in the console is possibly a larger hard drive as that will not require a redesign. The only advantage would be slightly faster download speeds to the console.

Hopefully, the next system update for the 360 will accept 64GB USB Drives. If Microsoft updated from 16GB to 32GB a few years ago, they should up it to 64GB.

I got nervous too. This is my 4th 360 due to red rings. They always seemed to have problems after updates. Started overheating and what not. I wish I could opt out of updates all together. I still have my old xbox and have never had any problems out of it.

I got the message. I’m worried about system failure. I still have my original xbox (that I still play at times) and have never had any problems. I got the 360 and it seems that with every update there is some kind of set back. I’m on my 4th 360 console now. Granted, I did have the first 360 models at first and now I have the slim. I know a lot of people had problems with the older models. And not that I’m thinking “conspiracy theory” or anything, I understand that dev’s and programmers come and go all the time. Picking up on a project at the last minute is always a recipe for bugs. I would just like to keep this console for a while without red rings and what not. I do plan on getting an xboxone, just not right now. Rendering this console obsolete will certainly not speed up the process. I’m just sort of broke at the moment. Haha!!

The slim model is much better than the old model, a extremely low chance of Red rings. I actually have never gotten red rings on the Slim.

I hope they do a simple redesign of the GUI to match XB1 a bit more. For instance, I would really like Pins layout to replace the Bing menu. I have no use for Bing, but would love to just press left on the stick and see 20-30 of my favorite games for quick access. Would also love transparency on the tiles.

Wish I had been picked to be part of the Preview program, since I am now part of it for Xbox One, but either way, I am glad that MS is continuing to support 360 and enhance the experience for old and new users!

There is a pins menu on the 360 but not exactly as you are asking for.

      • The Geminii23

Yeah. The Pins on 360 is not as nice as the XB1. Basically I think it saves one step in the menu navigation by accessing in the home menu instead of the Games menu. But I like the way it is on XB1, you just press left on the stick and there they are. Much nicer I think.

And the One the page is filled with numerous pins so there is no need to shift through them four or five at a time the way that you do on the 360.

That would be awesome! Especially if the XB1 gets an App one day to optimize 360 pass through from the HDMI in instead of using the TV App. Not sure how possible it is, but it would be nice to have a seamless experience jumping back and forth between the two consoles when connected together.

If no backwards support from the one that would be at least a decent solution to me.

Thanks….the first one worked but the second one got to about 90% then just froze there for 15 mins. I tried a second time and it did the same thing so I gave up on that one.

I was able to achieve just short of 10mbps on the d/l and 5mbps on the upload and I’m paying for 100 d/l and 5 u/l. I achieve near those speeds on several test sites on my computer but when I tried to use both those you offered up on my computer I got much slower speeds but near as slow as it showed on the 360. So my guess is the 360 is achieving a little higher than the numbers indicate but still not satisfactory all things being considered.

I’ll run these tests from time to time and keep track because for some reason that interests me. I achieve different speeds on different formats. My computer is wired in but my phone and tablet achieve different speeds and now I’ll be able to track what my console gets. Thanks again for providing those sites.

You gotta be careful, some sites measure in megabytes, while others measure in megabits. there is a difference. A byte is 8 bits, so you may be seeing a value 8x greater than it should be.

Thanks for that info. All I compare is the same site against the same site due to distance to servers can make a difference in the recorded speed. Never compare apples to oranges but I’ll keep that in mind if I ever do. LOL

speedtest. net is by default set to megabits I noticed, but I am to lazy to check others.

OK fairly simple to tell the difference. Mbps vs MBps. Just a difference in weather the b is lower case or the B is capitalize. Small b is bits Large B is Bytes. Perfect sense to me.

I feel so great now, and hopeful for my Xbox 360, I lost hope when the dashboard was broken for months in my country and I said this is the end, and now they fixed it! I am having so much hope for my Xbox 360! Thank you so much Microsoft for all of your support, now looking forward for Xbox Video support in my country and many countries which is unsupported as well!
