Microsoft console exclusive content on a streaming service that’s owned by Sony? Did hell just freeze over or something?

It isn’t that hard to believe considering Sony is still offering ‘Minecraft’ on their service and that MS supported Sony and hosted ‘The Interview’ during it’s debacle. And if the movie is really bad, it has the potential to make MS look bad. Not to mention the movie is only exclusive for one week so with the advertising and so forth Sony will make money.

M$ would have to be massive idiots to remove minecraft from anything. They could make a minecraft 2 exclusibe, but that’d also be dumb. And the interview is a movie, just like all the other movies available through xbox video.

It seems like you don’t have a clear understanding of how exclusives work. MS purchasing a property like Minecraft that is so established and then saying “You can only play it here” would draw so much more revenue to the company than they could ever make being on Sony’s marketplace. That is why Sony customers that were fans of Minecraft collectively held their breath until MS announced that it would stay on PSN. The guys running the brand are anything but stupid and they know what they are doing.

I don’t know if I would have called ‘The Interview’ “just a movie.” With the press and the controversy, it was more of an event to be able to stream it. People wanted to see it. There was a demand for it. This, not so much. “Dead Rising’ is more of “just a movie” when you are looking at it in dollars and sense. -pun intended

I digress, the original point was the OP commented about Sony and MS offering services and products on each others console as though it was new, I was pointing out that when there is enough money to be made it is not uncommon for those two to come to an agreement.

Thing is, minecraft was available on everything long before M$ bought it. Taking it away would hurt them WAY WAY WAY more than keeping it the way it is. As I said, a NEW minecraft could be exclusive. Not one that people already have.

And yes, the interview is just a movie. It would have been available through M$ services regardless of the events around it.

But, you’ll probly misunderstand this post just like you did my last one…

It’s previous availability was completely irrelevant. It still sells and if it were moved to exclusive content then it wouldn’t hurt them at all.. There is far more that you have to look at beyond that particular game if MS scaled Minecraft back to it’s platforms. Take the Xbox One for example, the popularity of that game would move a chunk of consoles over Sony and Nintendo if it were exclusive. Anyone who was willing to buy that console will by more software. The more software moving on a platform, the more software that will be made for that platform. That chain of commerce is why MS and Sony fork over the big money to have exclusive titles and content. The fact that MS said they would continue to support the title on other platforms after making the purchase still confuses reputable analysts and investors alike.

As far as a proposed Minecraft 2 goes, you said “They could make a minecraft 2 exclusibe, but that’d also be dumb.” How on earth is it “dumb” to refuse to make your direct competition money and to move more of their consoles?

Again, the point of “The Interview” was that MS and Sony do work together with each other’s material when it is mutually beneficial, whereas the original poster seemed surprised. So, I am not sure what you think your point of contention is. But, MS would have lost out on a ton of money had Sony declined offering the movie on the Xbox. And the cooperation goes further, those were just the two I mentioned. At one time Xbox had a Sony Pictures App and PS has Skype. There are a ton of ways the two companies are finding ways to make money off of each other.

But keep being perfectly clear with terrible sentence structure and spelling. Dude please do stop wasting time… the time it is taking to scroll past your posts.

I checked both my Xbox one and PS4 app section and it’s not their and the only thing I can think of is it’s on the 360 app store. I’m almost 100% sure I once tried it.
