The Star Wars Digital Movie Collection Arrives on Xbox

Disney has just announced the availability of the Star Wars Digital Movie Collection – all six epic Star Wars films for the first time on Digital HD, and with all new never-before-seen bonus material. We’re thrilled to reveal that Xbox is a digital distribution launch partner and we’re offering exclusive incentives for Xbox customers who purchase the Saga on Xbox Video!

Microsoft is offering two exclusive incentives for fans who purchase the six-film bundle on Xbox Video. First, they will receive everyone’s favorite scrappy astromech droid, R2-D2, as an Xbox Live avatar companion that flashes characteristics of classic R2-D2 from “A New Hope.” Also, they will receive the action-packed Star Wars Pinball Pack for the free-to-play game Pinball FX 2, for Xbox One or Xbox 360.

In addition, Disney is offering a Star Wars featurette video exclusively for Xbox customers; only by pre-purchasing the Saga on Xbox Video will you receive an exclusive roughly 60 second sneak peek at the bonus material included in the Star Wars Digital Movie Collection. Customers will receive the Xbox-exclusive featurette when they pre-purchase the “Star Wars” saga bundle on Xbox Video, then all six epic films in the Saga will be added to their collection in all their high-definition glory on April 10.

Xbox Video is available today as a free download on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows 8/RT, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone. Verify Xbox Video availability and system requirements.

May the Force be with you!

Will it only be the 1990’s rehashing or will it include the classic cuts as well?

I think these are the latest “Han shot first” edits only.

I think any fan would already have physical copies, either on VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, blu ray, whatever. Seems kind of odd to wait this long for digital. But I suppose they gotta make more money somehow before Episode 7 comes out.

Sure hope JJ doesn’t mess it up.

Given the 15 seconds we’ve seen of the Falcon, I think it’s in good hands.

Not to mention the blu rays are triple the bitrate compared to these and are less than half the price.

Well, I already have the whole collection on BluRay. What’s a good age for a young boy to understand and appreciate? 4 might be too little.

To understand? 4 is probably to little but if they like it (like myself and now my kids did at that age), that understanding will come over time.

Great bundle for the price. Already have them, but would recommend it.

Is this the worst edited version, in which Han shoots first etc?

      That’s the proper version lol.

Yeah, the whole controversy is that in the remastered editions they didn’t want Hal to look “evil” so instead of having him shoot Greedo under the table before being attacked, they had Greedo fire a shot & somehow miss from 0.5 meters away…which is pretty dumb.

Yeah, that is Disney’s standard price for the majority of their films. I’m pretty sure that even films that have been out on digital for a while, like Iron Man, are still sporting a $20 price point.

Yup, pretty much all non sale Disney movies are $20. They need to make that 4billion back for Star Wars lol.

$100…. you can’t resell it, you can’t caress it, you can’t smell or taste it’s freshness, and I believe on the Xbox One you can’t even watch it offline…. for $60 you can get the Blu-Rays…… Why people, why???

What I want is for this to be a season pass and for $89, I get access to Episodes 1-9. THAT would be worth the price!

Have never owned the new 3 & only have SD for the 3. My boy has just taken to the Star Wars world like a duck to water. Have pre-ordered this. Lots of extras for each movie also. Cannot deny the perfect timing. Only thing more I can hope for is a stream or download option for the Xbox One. The 360 is jammed full and then some.

If I could get only the 3 good movies, it is original form.. not destroyed with “digital remastered” explosions and changed story … would be great .. now, not interesting at all.

George Lucas already destroyed Star Wars with his constant editing, somewhere in a galaxy , where his mind is far far away.

£13.99 each for low bitrate movies, when you can buy the Blu-Ray. Hopefully one day Disney will see the light and released the Original Movies on Blu-Ray and not the messed up GL versions. What was this idiot thicking when he put that hack Hayden Christiensen in RoTJ.
