UPDATE: New Xbox One 1TB Console Unveiled

Today, we’re unveiling the Xbox One 1TB console, with a new matte finish and more storage for your games and media. But that’s not all. We’re also including our newly designed Xbox One Wireless Controller, and in select regions for a limited time, Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The new Xbox One Wireless Controller now features a 3.5mm stereo jack that lets you plug a headset right into the controller. You’ll have the option to adjust headset volume, mic monitoring, and voice and game audio balance through the Settings menu on your console. In addition to audio improvements, we’ve fine-tuned the bumpers and enabled wireless firmware updates on the updated controller which eliminates having to connect the controller via USB cable to receive updates. What’s more, you can purchase the new controller as a standalone item in black ($59.99 U.S. MSRP) as well as a new camouflage design in silver and black with the Xbox One Special Edition Covert Forces Wireless Controller ($64.99 U.S. MSRP).

Xbox One 1TB consoles will start shipping to retailers June 16 in the United States and select markets later this month and will be available starting at $399 USD ERP. We’re also pleased to announce that starting today, the $349 USD price on all standard Xbox One 500GB consoles will be permanent in the United States and select regions.

And finally, we are happy to announce that starting this Fall, you’ll be able to purchase the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows to enjoy the freedom and convenience of the wireless controller on Windows 10 PCs, laptops, and tablets. The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows will be available for $24.99 U.S. MSRP or bundled with an Xbox One Wireless Controller for $79.95 U.S. MSRP and sold in most markets where Xbox accessories are currently available. (Supports up to 8 controllers.)

I posted some high resolution images and a video of the Covert Forces controller at my Flickr page. For more news related to the Xbox One 1TB console and new Xbox One Wireless Controller, check out Xbox Wire.

    Wireless Headset???

The matte finish does look nicer than glossy black, but I’m still waiting to see if Microsoft can solve the bitstream audio issue for movies. Yes I know the Xbox One is a game console first but I sorely miss proper DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD (Dolby Atmos) output. the 1TB size is great but I want a more future-ready entertainment machine.

Also, I’m interested in upgrading to 4K real soon, but don’t want to buy a ‘Ultra HD Blu-ray player’. I’m wondering did Microsoft update some of the internals for HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 here as well? It’s a very long shot for these things but I really want to pull the trigger on an Xbox One.

And thank god there’s finally a 3.5mm jack on the controller, you know, one of the most universal audio inputs ever made.

1tb was inevitable. The price drop is surprising. I like it.

1TB – more games. New design is awesome and I think wireless adapter will change the way I play PC games.

I love the expanded storage! The main reason I love it so much is because I’ve begun pretty much exclusivley buying digital games and you *really* need a lot of space! ;P Thanks 55 GB ESO download! ;P Also the fact that you’re getting MORE for LESS money is another great thing! The new controllers look pretty cool, but I’d need to get one in my hand to see if I like it better or not.

I really want one of these new controllers. I have 2 controllers and both of them don’t work with headset mics. It would be amazing to be able to just plug in my Turtle Beach into the controller and use it to talk and have it work. I currently have to use my Kinect to talk and my headset for sound. I really hope I win one of these!

I Need an Xbox One in my life

I think the Xbox One 1TB console is amazing and is a much needed improvement as far as space is concerned. I’m really liking the Covert Forces Controller and it’s sleek design! The wireless adapter is pretty convenient and the price reduction is really good news for those who are still on the fence of getting an Xbox One!

I know a lot of people don’t like the propietary wireless adapter, but Wifi-Direct is so much better than bluetooth in terms of range and latency. Looking forward to hopefully getting one of these for my Christmas PC build.

Question, will the headphone jack work on windows as well? That would be awesome.

The 1T xbox one is big step in the right direction so is the Xbox One Special Edition Covert Forces Wireless Controller. For the 1T Xbox One thats a no brainer more space is more space fore games and apps thats always a plus. and for the Xbox One Special Edition Covert Forces Wireless Controller less attachments is also a plus. and then talks about the bumpers also been tweeked is also great even though i love the xbox one and the controllers i have but an up grade is always a plus. so i would love getting my hand on one of those new Xbox One Special Edition Covert Forces Wireless Controller. and thanks to you Major Nelson and the XBOX team for putting good content and positive content. and lets not for get the xbox update and having me a part of the preview program xbox,pc program. both are great. keep the good content coming out and wow me at E3!!! cause I’m a die hard GAMESTA
