UPDATE: New Xbox One 1TB Console Unveiled

Today, we’re unveiling the Xbox One 1TB console, with a new matte finish and more storage for your games and media. But that’s not all. We’re also including our newly designed Xbox One Wireless Controller, and in select regions for a limited time, Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The new Xbox One Wireless Controller now features a 3.5mm stereo jack that lets you plug a headset right into the controller. You’ll have the option to adjust headset volume, mic monitoring, and voice and game audio balance through the Settings menu on your console. In addition to audio improvements, we’ve fine-tuned the bumpers and enabled wireless firmware updates on the updated controller which eliminates having to connect the controller via USB cable to receive updates. What’s more, you can purchase the new controller as a standalone item in black ($59.99 U.S. MSRP) as well as a new camouflage design in silver and black with the Xbox One Special Edition Covert Forces Wireless Controller ($64.99 U.S. MSRP).

Xbox One 1TB consoles will start shipping to retailers June 16 in the United States and select markets later this month and will be available starting at $399 USD ERP. We’re also pleased to announce that starting today, the $349 USD price on all standard Xbox One 500GB consoles will be permanent in the United States and select regions.

And finally, we are happy to announce that starting this Fall, you’ll be able to purchase the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows to enjoy the freedom and convenience of the wireless controller on Windows 10 PCs, laptops, and tablets. The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows will be available for $24.99 U.S. MSRP or bundled with an Xbox One Wireless Controller for $79.95 U.S. MSRP and sold in most markets where Xbox accessories are currently available. (Supports up to 8 controllers.)

I posted some high resolution images and a video of the Covert Forces controller at my Flickr page. For more news related to the Xbox One 1TB console and new Xbox One Wireless Controller, check out Xbox Wire.

Cheaper = more friends on next gen. Love it

As cool as this news is, it is slightly disappointing that no announcement about upgrading current Xbox consoles was made. 500GB has proven to not be nearly enough. The amount of space these games take is mind boggling. I don’t have that kind of issue with PC. Still, love the new controller design. I always wondered why that was not option yet.

    • DailyDose

And by option I mean a stereo jack on the controller itself. I should be a product designer.

  • Thunder Cougar

Just got an Xbox One to celebrate the end of exams so I missed out on the price reduction 😦 Still, a new controller with better bumpers sounds fantastic! Can’t wait to see everything at E3, or at least online. Hopefully, it will be streamed on Xbox like last year.

with this change we gamers will be very benefited more practical with relation to the phone and more room for new games

  • Actus_Reus

Actually I am excited about the ability to plug a headset directly into the controller. I can now bring over my 360 one without buying the adapter.

  • BootsthaGod617

Glad to hear they’re doing 1TB now. Just wish they’d done it before I bought a separate hard drive lol. With the price reduction I can honestly say most of my friends will be grabbing an Xbox one now (you really can’t beat $350).

  • Roy

Exciting that the Xbox One 1TB Console has more space, but also the matte finish. I swear the gloss finish on the last one absorbs all the dust from the air instantly after cleaning.

  • Chris Kidd

The 1tb upgrade now has me considering to purchase the X-One, I am not a day one buyer so I usually wait to see what changes have been made to a system before getting it, Plus another question, is the Kinect worth it?

  • Elmo B.

Looks great Larry. Having 1tb of space is a godsend. I love the new
matte finish as well. Really happy to see support for headsets added in
for a right out the box experience like no other. Really would like to
try out the new triggers and see which I prefer.

  • Gnome Puncher

I like the update, the controller should have had that jack from the start. All I need is that controller, Fallout 4 and Halo 5 and i’ll be set for many many hours.

  • Jeremiah Greenleaf

Finally more space! Already had to hook up an external to my other one hehe. Maybe get my gf a one now =P

  • Nitrolight

A larger storage option is great, love the new controller design too!

  • daisy

I think thats awesome, I would of wished they had done this from the start though. :

  • Cristiano Leão Petronio

Esse X box One e um sonho extraordinário de consumo universal !!

  • Psavach

Glad to see the bigger hard drive, the default was just not enough. In all though, I’m really happy to see the 3.5mm jack added to the controller. I’m in a position to need the addon due to wanting to hookup to a monitor speakers and this would have really saved me some money. Now I’ll be able to get a new controller and use my RHA MA750i without having to buy a bulky addon.

  • Brandon Ollis

I love the new covert forces controller! I have the same design in blue and green already. Looking forward to picking it up in black.

  • edujglez
