        A rather interesting quiz. For someone that grew up in the south (although a military brat), spent the majority of my “formative” years there, 15 years in the military myself in South Carolina, Florida and Nebraska, and the last 15 years in the south again (it’s home, what can I say?), I wasn’t terribly surprised that my results showed right in the middle of the country (Wichita, KS). I neither have much of an accent, nor speak most terms like a lot of us Southerners do. :-)

    This may be a little off topic, but is there a setting to keep my wife from coming in and saying “Xbox Watch TV” in the middle of an online match? I’m terrible at BF4 and this isn’t helping.:-/

    My top games for 2013….. I’m still playing Halo Wars a lot. I got into Minecraft a lot during the summer on the 360. Zelda Wind Waker and Super Mario 3D World for Wii U were great. And I have been playing a lot of Forza 5 and Need for Speed
    Rivals on the Xbox One. I have also been playing a lot of Halo Spartan Assault on the Xbox One also. It’s fun. I can’t wait for all of the great games coming in 2014!

        Halo Spartan Assault is a new style of playing Halo, but it’s fun. It’s a top down twin stick shooter genre version of Halo. Think of it like a fun little different take on Halo.

    I grew up all over the US, but primarily in California, Michigan and Arkansas, but the dialect quiz stuck me firmly in Florida. I spent one year there in the Military, and I was too busy to really soak up the local culture, so I don’t see how it placed me there. In many cases, I use multiple terms for the same thing, so this probably skewed the results.

        But we live in the uk, we have rights! Take that bad boy back and get it replaced, you get 12 months, it’s been 5 weeks!

        Guy on support tried to do this advance exchange process. In which I needed to have the cost of my console in my bank £430, and they would send me out a new console and I would have to spend them out my broken console.

        Obviously I’ve just paid £600+ for my new console and don’t have another £430 just laying about in my bank.

        So I said what about if my retailer replace my console and he said it’s still in warranty so they should. Now I just need to get in contact with GAME and see if I can get a replacement console.

        I’ve recently had mine replaced using the Advanced Exchange. They don’t take any money out of your account unless you don’t send back the faulty console within 14 days of receiving the replacement. You do need the money in your account, they put a ‘hold’ on cost of one, but if you send it back in time, you incur no charges. You don’t have to pay for postage either.

        Another point, mine almost didn’t get sent back in time, and I had a chat with MS on the phone, they said even if they were to charge me, when they receive the console, the money would be returned.

        Hope this helps others.

        Yes but you still need a spare £429 laying about in your bank, even if you have every intention of returning the broken console.

        My brother has the same problem with his console, controller and xbox support. His contoller keeps on disconnecting for no reason so he called xbox support and they said they would replace it, so anyway they were meant to send him a new day one controller but guess what he only got 1 part of the contoller which was a battery pack cover! Are you serious microsoft this is taking it too far!

        Now he called support again today and now they’re saying it will cost him pretty much the same price as the controller is right now just to deliver it for repair which is a complete utter joke! My brother has already said its the console and not the controller that is the problem but guess what xbox support wont listen.

        Tempted to sell mine now just in case something goes wrong with my console I am not going through this rubbish no chance.

        Yea Microsoft won’t allow you to send our console or controllers in for repair, we can only get sent out a new controller or console, meaning we need the money in our bank for that. So £50-70 for controller in our bank to get a new controller then you’ve got to send your broken one back and same with console, £429.

        I can understand in a way why microsoft are doing it but the way the support are dealing with it with my brother is just ridiculous. Microsoft need to understand that people do not have money growing on trees and that people are not loaded with cash

      people still call for help? wtf… all you have to do is go on a chat you dummy. waaaaaay better than an actual phone call. and the agents who are operating the chat are so freaking cool and awesome ^^ i had a problem with my internet once, and after 5 mins the guy helped me resolve the problem and for the next 30 mins we ended up talking about football xD

      So yea. I need to do this…. http://supportxboxcom/en-US/xbox-one/system/reset-console-to-factory-defaults but due to my Xbox one having a complete system failure ( green screen logo – black screen E303 error ) I’m unable to get to the UI / dashboard to be able to do a factory restore on my console. I need to do this if I’m able to get a console replacement tomorrow, otherwise my old broken X1 will have all my details and profile on it.

      Anyone got any ideas?

        I made a research and found nothing about reseting without going to the dashboard. This is an important thing you pointed.

        what about change your password at xboxcom?. Doesnt that prevent somebody to log into your account at your old xb1?

        No because my profile on my “old” Xbox one signed me in automatically so any password change would take effect.

        Got a new replacement console now and GAME did tell me they will wipe the hard drive of my old broken console.

        I still putting a pass key on my new console anyway so whenever I sign in a pass key will need to be entered.

        I think all of the game saves automatically store a copy online (which is why you see that waiting screen sometimes when you load a game up). Not positive though😀

        Yah, all of the games do an auto upload of the save data so I’m pretty sure that’s what it’s doing. When my net is running slow I will see the “please wait while we work” type message sometimes.

        Saves are cloud based so no all my digital games and saves were backed up to the cloud.

      Im REALLY enjoying it. I bought all the DLC for it since it’s on sale currently. I just finished AC2, and loved that as well. Those are the first two games I didnt already own on the 360 that were given away on GwG.

    Hey Major Nelson, three of my games Deadpool, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions have been removed from XBox Live (and from other digital distribution services as well, from my understanding).

    1. Are there any plans to bring these back to XBox Live eventually?
    2. Do I still have the license to these games? If they do come back can I download them again?
    3. If the answers to 1 & 2 are uncertain or a definite no, can I get the 56.25 CDN I paid for them credited back into my XBox Live account? That would be great.

      If you purchased the titles, they belong in your downloads history under account history. They will no longer be shown in the marketplace. You have the licenses so long as the XBox Live servers for the XBox 360 are up. Also, no refunds is in the agreement upon purchasing titles from the marketplace. This includes DLC/Avatar items.

        I know there’s no refunds for DLC/ Avatar items or digital download games which have already been purchased (I have been using XBox Live for many years now), but since the games in question have been removed on account of Activision making a decision to that effect , and I can’t be certain whether or not Activision will authorize XBox Live to carry them again, what use is the licence or download history to me?

        I think Microsoft should rethink their refund policy, at least insofar as digitally distributed games getting removed from a service are concerned. This is why I was hoping Lord Larry (a.k.a. Major Nelson) would see fit to bother with the queries of us little mortals. Thanks for your input anyway, MoocaHero.

        The pulled them because the licensing ended. You can still play and DL them though like Moocahero stated. It’s not MS’s fault and of course they can’t tell when it’s going to happen, which is why they state no refunds for stuff like this.

        I do agree, I think when something gets pulled that company should then compensate the people that bought the digital versions something. Like Prometheus on Xbox Video, I bought it when it came out and it hasn’t been available for many
        months, not happy having spent $20 to not be able to watch it…

        There are a lot of things that need to change for digital licensing imo.

      OK then, the games I spent the most time in and enjoyed the most in no particular order: Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Dead Space 3, Gears of War Judgment, Grand Theft Auto V, Diablo III, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Castlevania LoS: MoF, Dead Rising 3.
      Lately I’ve also been enjoying Super Mario 3D World and The Legend of Zelda: A Link between Worlds (which I hope you guys are paying attention to as the Xbox needs similar franchises with those fun mechanics IMO).

      I’m bucking the trend here. The game I played the most was Zuma’s Revenge! But Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider are certainly contenders for best of the year. Planning to work through backlog this year: Max Payne 3, another pass at Naval Assault, some others.

    I dont even use my xb1 for the time being. Have not seen anything amazing yet besides ryse. And i appreciate my friends more on 360. The 360 just works for me man. From wat i hear is that the ps4 is like a 360, dont kno how true that is.

      I’m using my Xbox One constantly, but I still find myself yearning for the 360 with it’s time-tested UI, friends lists, and back catalog. It’s still a viable platform while the Xbox One goes through it’s growing pains.

      Likely not there, because of copyright issues. People would illegally watch videos that are copyrighted on the XB1.

      In saying that you can use your PC on the xb1, by using HDMI out. A really cool feature.

    Even though Gears judgement was the worst of the series. I enjoyed it when it came out March 2013 and probably was my most played game that year. I played other games, but Gears has always been my favourite game on X box 360. I love the unique nature of this game, there is no other FPS game like Gears.

    The lack of content with Gears judgement, lack of maps for traditional multiplayer, lack of characters, locust taken out and other stuff, annoyed Gears fans enough that they refused to buy the game, like they did with Gears 3 which in fairness was a great game with lots of content.

    I’m hoping for Gears on xb1, because i like to see at least one Gears game for next gen and see how fans respond to it! This will least tell us if fans are ready for more gears or prefer if it went away for a while.

    After a week of playing the xbox one I am pleased overall. I do believe the system will get better over time, but it will be hard for the xbox one to compete with the PS4. I had to split my hdmi from my cable box because I was not getting surround sound (7.1 onkyo receiver) and yes I turned on the beta surround sound. I tried watching a blu ray movie via the xbox one and we had to switch over to my regular bluray player because the audio was not in sync via the xbox one- plus no 3d support from the ONE. Not quite the all in one system (yet).

      Given how E3 went I would say work that would’ve went in to prepping these missing features had to go in to getting rid of the moronic requirements the Xbox One had. It’ll get there. It just had to take the scenic route. Look what was added to the 360 over its lifetime.
