After releasing the critically acclaimed Ori and the Blind Forest last year, we listened to our community’s feedback and created an even more feature-rich Definitive Edition for digital release earlier this Spring. We’re humbled by the reception Definitive Edition has received on both Xbox One and PC, and wanted to make sure fans everywhere can experience the game.

Following its digital debut, we’re excited to announce that Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition will also hit store shelves very soon. In partnership with stores across the US, the critically-acclaimed Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition for Xbox One will be available on June 14, 2016 for $19.99.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is already packed with additional content that includes new areas, more story sequences, multiple difficulty modes, and much more. But as a special bonus, the US retail version will include a CD of the award-winning original soundtrack, a digital copy of the original game, Behind the Scenes videos chronicling the making of the game, and much more!

“Since we released Ori and the Blind Forest, we’ve received many mails, tweets and requests from fans asking for a boxed retail release, so we’re extremely pleased to finally make everyone’s wish come true,” said Thomas Mahler, CEO of Moon Studios. “We hope that all of you will be pleased with what we’ve put together for this retail release of Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition. We can’t wait to finally see Ori and the Blind Forest on shelves and we once again want to thank all of our fans and everyone who supported Moon and Ori over the last few years – we’re deeply humbled and appreciative. Thank you so much!”

And for those who enjoy playing Ori on PC, Microsoft Studios and Moon Studios are happy to announce a partnership with Nordic Games to bring the Steam version of Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition to retail on June 14, 2016, where two different editions (Standard Edition for $19.99 and Limited Edition for $29.99) will be available in stores globally.

“My colleagues and I at Nordic Games were Ori fans from the very beginning”, said Reinhard Pollice, Business and Product Development Director at Nordic Games. “There is a fundamental connection with platformers in our team. Combine this with the unique art style, the gripping atmosphere, and the immaculate gameplay of Ori and the Blind Forest, and you’ll see our team drooling all over this amazing game. In more formal words: We are more than happy to work together with Microsoft Studios and Moon Studios and publish this gem of a game in its PC retail version and give it the physical representation it deserves.”

So if you missed it the first time around or were simply waiting for it to come out as a retail release, now’s your chance to see why Ori and the Blind Forest has won over 30 industry awards – don’t miss this very special, one-of-a-kind game!

For more information about the retail version of Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, check out the Nordic Games Press Release.

Ori and the Blind Forest was one of the most beautiful, most critically acclaimed games of 2015, with over 30 industry awards to its name. Now, Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is available on Windows 10 and Steam. Moon Studios’ amazing 2D sidescrolling platformer is a true joy to behold and to play, and we’re overjoyed that players on Windows 10 and Steam can now experience it in its full, remastered, Definitive Edition glory.

If you already own the original on Steam, you can upgrade to Definitive Edition for just $4.99. And you can even purchase official Ori merchandise at the new Ori and The Blind Forest shop. If you missed it the first time around, now’s your chance to see what Ori is all about – don’t miss this very special, one-of-a-kind game!

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is also available on Xbox One.

One of the most gorgeous games of 2015 has become even more spectacular in 2016 with Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, which hit Xbox One last month. Next week, on April 27, gamers on Windows 10 and Steam will get the chance to see how this recipient of over 30 industry game awards (including numerous E3 awards, the Golden Joystick Award for Best Xbox Game, the Best Art Direction Award from The Game Awards, Outstanding Achievement in Original Composition from the D.I.C.E. Summit, The Game Developer’s Choice Award for Best Debut, the Artistic Achievement award from the BAFTAs and more) in 2015 has gotten even better.

Ori and the Blind Forest, a 2D sidescrolling platformer from developer Moon Studios, is a true visual spectacle. Players take control of the titular Ori, a guardian spirit who explores the haunting forest of Nibel – a breathtaking backdrop that imparts the magic of classic hand-drawn art with the help of some impressive tech. We asked our partners at Moon for a few thoughts on how they approached the Definitive Edition.

“Immediately after the release of Ori and the Blind Forest, we heard cries from fans asking for even more content. Instead of ‘just’ releasing DLC, we decided to craft an entirely new package that includes both the new content as well as features that fans have asked us to add to the original game. We spent almost an entire year on this new release of Ori and the Blind Forest and hope that we have now delivered the ultimate ‘Ori experience’ for all of our fans out there!”

The Definitive Edition is all about making a great game even more accessible for players; besides new areas, music, story elements, and the additional Light Burst and Dash abilities, it adds a new Easy difficulty for those who’d like to relax a little and take in the sights of Nibel. Ori can even warp between Spirit Wells, the game’s save points, which makes for a faster and more streamlined experience. Fans can also now purchase official merchandise at the new Ori and The Blind Forest shop.

Some words of thanks from the developers at Moon: “We’d like to thank everyone for the tremendous support we’ve received, it truly means a great deal to us that we’ve seen nothing but positive reviews, won many prestigious awards and all of that really motivates us to give back to our fans and do even greater things in the future.”

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition gets even better on Windows 10, offering enhanced resolution and monitor support, and the ability to cross-save between the Xbox One and Windows 10 versions. On all platforms, Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition also comes bundled with the original Ori and the Blind Forest release for free.

And on Steam, if you already own the original Ori and the Blind Forest, you can upgrade to Definitive Edition for just $4.99!

Moon Studios’ sidescrolling exploration-platformer Ori and the Blind Forest captured players’ hearts when it debuted on Xbox One last year. And starting March 11, it’s getting the star treatment with the release of Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition for Xbox One, which delivers a multitude of new areas, difficulty options, and gameplay upgrades that should appeal to both new and seasoned Ori players.

Current owners of Ori and the Blind Forest can upgrade to the Definitive Edition for $4.99, while all new players can pick up the full game for $19.99, which includes the original Ori. Fans can also purchase official merchandise at the new Ori and The Blind Forest shop – coming soon.

A member of the Xbox Wire staff had the opportunity to sit down with Microsoft Studios’ Mark Coates, Executive Producer, to break down what fans will discover in the Definitive Edition – and what makes Ori and the Blind Forest such a special, one-of-a-kind journey. You can read that full interview over at Xbox Wire.
